Kida-Rose POV
Peace was something very rare in the chaotic world we live in. Everyday was constant pain and loss, everyday there was another tragedy that the world and the people around us were forced to face. Mentally and physically many people around us were drained and very tired and ready to give up. Regardless, they put their best foot forward and fought with everything they had in them to ensure that one day, if not tomorrow or next week, everything at some point in time would be alright.
It was a positive outlook on all the dark and demented things happening around us, but at a particular time everyone has that part of their brain, that pessimistic little voice at the back of their head beating and badgering telling them that they're wasting their time trying and fighting so hard when deep down they knew the outcome might not be what they want.
I didn't know if I was dead or alive. I did recognize the familiar feeling of being in a void of nothing thought, like the one I was trapped in when I first got a taste of death. The only difference was this void wasn't a pitch black room of nothing. I was surrounded by nature, luscious scenery stood all around me, colorful flowers and tall green trees surrounded me and ever so often a soft breeze would pass by. The sounds of crickets and frogs croaking filled the air, but yet still I felt empty.
Beyond the trees, the sun was setting, decorating the sky with colors as it disappeared behind the trees quickly being replaced with the full moon as stars adorned the sky. Despite it being nightfall, it was still warm. It was so calming here, so serene but yet still my mind was moving at ten fold.
Where was I? What was this? Is this what real death was? Beautiful? Calm? Confusing? What was happening?
There was a scary feeling creeping up my spine. Something was wrong, something wasn't right. My mind was running at ten miles per hour, reminding me of this fact and all I could was take a seat on the soft grass as I took in harsh breathes. My chest constricted and tightened and my hand instinctively went to my belly. I closed my eyes, trying my best to calm myself down as anxiety and panic riddled my body, it felt like someone was sticking me with a million pins and I twitched slightly at the combined pains all over my body.
Tears prickled my eyes, recently it felt like all I've been doing is crying and wishing things were better, different, normal. The river flowed down my face and I allowed it as a small sense of calm waved through my body as I felt something drape over my shoulders. My eyes snapped open and my head whipped back, looking over my shoulder as someone loomed above me.
My eyes trailed up the person's frame until I was faced with eyes identical to mine.
"P-Papa?"
I searched his eyes to see if it was really him, reaching out to see if he was a hallucination or not and when my hand grasped his jeans I broke down like I never did before. I was so confused in that moment and I only cried harder when I felt his arms wrapped around me and all I could do was sob into his chest.
I felt something hit my shoulder as I felt a kiss on my forehead, my father rocked us side to side like he would do when I was little. The day before he died, I remember us doing exactly this, 'I'll always be here sugar' his words echoed in my head as memories warped through my head and I gripped his shirt as I sobbed.
"You left! You left us! You left me! I felt so alone papa. You left!"
He only held me tighter when I started fighting in his hold.
"I'm sorry sugar. I'm so sorry"
Dehlaney POV
I had a pounding headache and nothing put pain was shooting throughout my entire body. My heart hammered against my rib cage, reassuring me that I was in fact still alive and the fact that every time I took in a breath there was a crippling feeling in my chest, so yes I was still alive, very, very alive. My eyes slowly peeled open and I was met with what looked like a hospital room, everything was weirdly sparkly and I raised an eyebrow confused.
This definitely wasn't hell and it also definitely wasn't death. I mustered up enough energy to sit up, despite the agony going through my frame, leaving my body against the headboard as I took in my surroundings.
It was your typical hospital room. I was connected to an IV with drips and a heart monitor, the blood pressure machine, wearing a polka dotted gown, the whole nine yards. The walls were a ugly beige color and I laid on a surprisingly soft mattress. A clock on the wall showed that it was exactly one a.m and I looked over myself seeing all my wounds were treated and bandaged.
A door was right in front of me, the blue structure had a little window in the middle of it and through I saw Kida laying as still as a statue in the room across from me. Her heart monitor moved steadily and another stood next to it also moving steadily and I'm guessing that was for her baby girl. She looked okay, her chest rose up and down calmly, but calmness always meant something bad in our situation. Being saved from the depths of hell by who knows what or who also wasn't a good sign.
My mind drifted to the figure I saw before I passed out back with the night crawlers and the weird glow that came from Kida. What was that? and most importantly who was that? Out of the goodness of their hearts they just appeared and decided to save to random women being attacked in hell? They didn't question or get skeptical? I didn't trust this one bit, not even a little bit.
Every hair on my body was stood up and my eyes darted around the room at any sudden movement. I didn't like this in the least, but the point of the matter was. Kida and I were very much alive so the danger was still very present and accounted for, and maybe just maybe a new threat has been added to that list.
