Guilt danced around in Agatha's stomach as she sprinted into her dorm and flopped face down on her bed. She had dumped Tedros. A boy she thought she had loved, but didn't. Now she had gone and hurt his feelings. She had seen his devastated expression. But then, you can't be with someone who you don't truly love, can you? She thought of Hort. How he always stared at her with those loving, adoring eyes. Then, Agatha remembered how he had been gazing at Sophie and her dazing smile disappeared. A envious frown replaced it.
"Sophie. You ruin everything." She growled under her breath, annoyed. If it wasn't for Sophie's remarkable beauty, she and Hort could be together right now. Happily! But Sophie's face was wrecking all the chances. Though Hort loved her, he was always mesmerized by Sophie. Her stupid, smooth white face. What was she, Agatha, compared to Sophie, the breathtakingly pretty one? An ugly goat? Agatha's face went tomato red and tears smarted out of her eyes. Maybe, Hort didn't love her anymore? Perhaps it was Sophie he loved after all! A mixture of a sigh and a sob escaped her mouth. Soon, Agatha was howling into her mouldy pillow. All over the weasel. Hort. His cute brown eyes, his small red lips and his folded ears. Suddenly, she thought of...home. Gavaldon. The graveyard. Her mother, Callis. Reaper, her beloved wrinkled cat. With...with...Sophie. Agatha bolted up, deep in thoughts of her long forgotten home she had just remembered. Oh, did her mother miss her? Was she lonely with just Reaper? Oh, Reaper! Was he fending alright? Did he at least miss her? It was decided. Together, she and Sophie would go back home. Back to Gavaldon where they would be safe forever.
Don't worry, mother. I'll be home soon. We'll be home soon. Together, me and Sophie. Agatha thought and immediately began packing her tattered trunk. She ran out of her room and peered around, making sure no one was watching. She leapt out of the nearby window and sprinted to the halfway bridge.
"Evil with Evil. Good with Good. Go back to your castle before I call you know who." Her reflection chanted. Agatha groaned. She had forgotten about the process to go through the invisible barrier. She sucked in air and attempted, knowing this would be her only chance to get through. She plastered a smile on her face which she hoped was a kind one.
"Oh, my teachers must be worrying. They must wonder why I am in black. Oh dear!" Agatha sighed, acting like she was panicking. Her reflection arched an brow, not believing any of her act.
"Acting won't do." Her reflection shook its head.
"But I don't do anything that's bad! I don't do anything that's evil!" Agatha lied.
Again, her reflection arched a brow. "Is that so. Then why is it that you're acting so...good?" It inquired.
"Because I'm good!" Agatha almost yelled. Her reflection winced and disappeared. Agatha placed her finger where the barrier was and felt her fingers going right through. She smirked, satisfied and ran through the barrier and sprinted across the rest of the bridge. She crept into the castle, silent as a mouse and tip toed up the empty staircase. She snuck to the dorms and found Sophie's room which she knocked on the door.
"Sophie?" She hissed, impatiently. She heard footsteps come to the door and expected to see Sophie when the door opened. But, it was only...Tedros? "T-Tedros?" She gasped, horrified that her now former prince was standing at the door, clearly looking like he was crying with the puffy, red swollen eyes.
"Sophie's here." He mumbled without meeting her eyes and stumbled back into the room, leaving the door opened. She strolled in and shut the door behind her. She quickly took in the huge, clean blue and pink room. When she got over her shock, she walked over to Sophie and plopped down on the floor next to her. Sophie glared at her.
"What?" Agatha frowned as Sophie continued to glower.
"I should be the one asking you that! What are you doing here?" Sophie snapped, obviously furious at Agatha for hurting Tedros. Agatha leaned over.
"Listen, we have to go home. To Gavaldon where our families are waiting for us." She whispered into her ear. Sophie's face went red and blotchy with anger. Her nostrils flared.
"Home? Home? You think I would go home with you? You think I have a proper family? A family that loves me?" Sophie shrieked, causing Agatha and Tedros to flinch and cower. Well, Tedros enjoyed this all anyways as Agatha did deserve it. Agatha ogled at her friend.
"Of course! You do have a family! Stefan, your father and by the time we get back, he'd have married Honora which means you would have two step brothers!" Agatha exclaimed which was clearly the wrong thing to say as Sophie went even more mad.
"My father doesn't love me and you know that and how dare he if he married Honora! My mother only died five years ago! He got over her that quick? And brothers? Those boys are to be my brothers? I'm out of there! The School For Good is my home! I'm not going back!"
"What about me? I miss my mother and my cat! Why do you only think of yourself? Don't you care about me? I don't want to suffer anymore here! I want to live happily in Gavaldon forever!"
"But I don't want to suffer at Gavaldon forever! I want to live here where I belong and choose to live in. I want to be with my friends not fake friends who hurt people! Go home by yourself! But I'm staying here." With that, Sophie leapt up and stomped into her bathroom, leaving Agatha and Tedros alone in the room(Beatrix, Millicent and Reena were at the book club). For a while, Tedros glared at Agatha while she awkwardly squirmed on the spot. Then finally, he broke the silence.
"Listen. Did you even...love me?" He whispered and buried his head in his shaking hands. Agatha stared down at the floor guiltily.
"I thought I did. But...I didn't." She bit her lip. She looked at him and found his whole body shaking as he sobbed. What she had said had impacted him even more.
"Just go. Go. Get away from here." He sobbed and shoved her out of the room. He then slammed the door in her crestfallen face. Sighing with disappointment, Agatha wheeled around to find...the school master standing right there with a mask concealing his real face.
"The School Master." Agatha gasped and trembled with fear. She knew this severe looking man would punish her. Punish her hard.
"Don't worry. You'll be back in your graveyard before you know it." He whispered with a chilly, hostile voice which sent shivers down her spine. Suddenly, the door behind her opened loudly and Sophie sprinted out, screaming.
"Aggie! No!"
Agatha stared at her friend and shook her head.
"I won't be happy here, Sophie. I have to go somewhere I belong in and that's home. Gavaldon. you have a choice. To stay or to go." She gently said.
"Aggie, stay! We could be happy here together! Aggie!" Sophie yelled desperately.
"Sophie, you're staying, right?" Tedros asked, walking out of the dorm.
"Of course! But Aggie. Stay." Sophie sobbed and fell onto the floor.
"Goodbye, Sophie. Tedros." With that, Agatha was gone. She had gone...home.
