War: Training

"You will be learning to fight! Not against each other but together, Evers and Nevers, against the School Master and his zombie army!" Roared Yuba.

"And we have no time to waste. Anyone who dares to disobey the orders and  muck around will straight away go to the doom room." Added Lady Lesso coolly.

"Even the Evers?" Chirped Kiko brightly, expecting the answer to be no.

"What part of  'anyone' do you not understand?" Answered Lesso.

Gaping, Kiko shut her mouth.

"Ever boys and Never boys, you'll be trained to fight with weapons as you all know fairly enough for spells. I'll be teaching that." Yelled Yuba.

"Ever girls and Never girls, you'll be with me and Dovey, learning to use strong spells and hexes." Said Lesso.

"That's not fair!" Groaned Beatrix.

"We should be learning how to fight with weapons too!" Millicent complained.

"And how come the girls get to learn to use dark magic and cool hexes?" Vex yelled. Soon, everyone was complaining that what they were learning wasn't something they wanted to do.

"Silence!" Screamed Lesso and Yuba. Nobody heard and continued to protest.

"SHE SAID TO BE QUIET!" Agatha bellowed shot out a bright jet of golden light to the sky. No one spoke.

"Er thank you, Agatha. Now, if you all don't shut up about your training, we won't train at all and you will all be killed. Do you want that?" Hissed the Evil's Dean.

"No." Everyone answered quietly.

"Good. Now, girls! Come with me!" She called and began advancing towards the school for evil. Both Ever and Never girls followed without a word.

"Won't the School Master see everyone training?" Whispered Sophie to Agatha.

"No, he's probably training his own army." Agatha whispered back with a scared smile.

"Which we have no idea where." Said Hester walking quickly to catch up with them along with Anadil and Dot.

"Maybe near the graves." Suggested Dot.

"Where he belongs." Muttered Anadil.

"We better defeat him for good." Sophie seethed. She and Agatha clasped hands.

Tears filled good Dot's eyes as she watched Sophie and Agatha walk hand in hand. Two best friends bonded by sisterly love. The kind of love she would want to have with Hester and Anadil, except they wouldn't want it with her.  She turned and looked at Anadil and Hester. They also had clasped hands and were tearing up a little at the sight of Agatha and Sophie, too. She sighed and shuffled back slowly so they could all be ahead of her. Hester and Anadil noticed and stopped

"What are you waiting for? Come!" Hester exclaimed and grabbed Dot's hand with her free hand.

"Yeah. We have no time to waste." Said Anadil.

"Besides-" Began Hester.

"You're the last of our coven." Concluded Anadil. Dot didn't answer, silent with shock, but quickly recovered and straightened up from her hunched position. She glared at them confidently.

"That's right. We have no time to waste." She pronounced fiercely, referring to Anadil's first comment. Pulling her hand away from Hester's tight grasp, she stomped off to the front of the line, screaming: "Hurry up! Hurry up! We have no time to waste!"

Anadil and Hester stared at their friend as if she had gone without any chocolate for a day(they had experienced this when Dot couldn't make her finger glow and had decided the day very unpleasant), realized that everyone was already climbing the staircase and ran towards them.

"I hate..." Panted Hester as they followed everyone else(who were also chanting with Dot).

"This war practice thing." Anadil finished as if she'd read Hester's mind.

"This is going to be so boring. We're probably only going to learn simple hexes, like, stunning spells, a booty trap spell, a good-turning spell and, well, you get my point." Hester muttered.

Neither spoke again until they walked into a vast, windowless room filled with dusty mirrors, ripped sofas, and old helves filled with books of dark magic and curses.

"Amazing, isn't it?" Agatha breathed when she and Sophie reached the witches' side.

"Mmm." Anadil sighed and grabbed a book out of a nearest shelf: Dark Magic to Use In a Real Fight! Curiously, she flipped the book open to the first page. Hester, Agatha and Sophie read over her shoulders.

Be aware that this book contains very dark magic that you probably do not want to know about.

"Very dark magic?" Agatha gasped excitedly. She grabbed the next book on the shelf which turned out to be: Strong Hexes and Curses. Immediately, she flipped over to the first page. But, just as she was beginning to read the warning, the book was snatched out of her hands. Startled, Agatha looked up to see Professor Dovey standing right in front of her, and for once, looking fierce.

"You should be paying attention to Lady Lesso and not reading books that you won't be able to  learn out of." For the first time, her eyes did not have the familiar twinkle as she glared. Instead, now, it had turned almost identical to Lady Lesso. She didn't see Anadil hide her book behind her and turned to storm back to the front of the room.

"How come we can't learn out of these books?" Called Sophie. "We can read, you know."

Dovey stopped, sighed and returned.

"Listen, none of you are going to understand any of the spells the books teach you. You know why? Because they are not for beginner students." The Good Dean snapped. Sophie gritted her teeth angrily as she watched Dovey walk back to the front where Lady Lesso was explaining spells.

"We'll see about that." She muttered, grabbed a book from a shelf and opened it up to the second page where it began listing the spells and what page they would be explained in. "Stunning hex, page five." She flipped the pages over to page five where at the top in bold writing said: STUNNING HEX. Below had all the information on it and how to produce the hex.

Look directly at the place you want to cast the hex on and point your finger at it. Your finger should glow with all the emotion you will be feeling. In your head, repeat the words: i want to stun them. Once you say it three times, a jet of black light should come out of your finger and hit the person or animal you are looking(and pointing) at which will stun them.

Taking a deep breath Sophie looked directly at the animal-Lady Lesso had conjured to show them the spell she was explaining-and pointed her finger at it. Immediately her finger glowed hot pink. I want to stun them. I want to stun them. I want to stun them. She thought, her brows furrowed in concentration. A jet of black light shot out of the tip of her glowing finger and hit the poor bear right in the chest. The animal's eyes bulged out and its body froze. It fell to the floor with a loud thump and did not come back up.

Everyone turned to the direction of where the spell had come from. Both Lady Lesso and Professor Dovey looked impressed and shocked.

"Which," said Lady Lesso, "talented student just produced the stunning hex?"

For a minute, no one said a word, and finally, Sophie, trembling, raised her hand.
