Hoseok woke up to metal pans clanking outside of his bedroom.
He groaned, quite confused. Rubbing his face off of sleep, he patted around his nightstand, finally getting ahold of his phone to check the time.
It was still around five in the morning. What was Namjoon doing in his apartment this early in the morning? And why the hell was he in the kitchen? The brunet specifically told him to stay away from anything that involved preparing food. He didn't have enough trust for the clumsy giant when it came to those things.
Lifting himself up and out of the comfy, cloud-like sheets, Hoseok took a quick look at his puffy face (as a result of a good night's sleep) in the mirror. He shivered from the cold air, cursing himself for failing to get his broken heater fixed sooner.
"I hate adulting." He mumbled to himself, dismissing the thought of putting a shirt on out of pure laziness. It was just his best friend anyways.
Opening his bedroom door, fully prepared to smell something burning from the kitchen, he did not expect to scream when someone immediately started clapping two pans together just inches from his face.
"Wake up, sunshine!" Yoongi greeted, throwing the pans on the mattress behind the exister.
"What the hell are you doing here?!" Hoseok screeched, feeling like death just flashed before his eyes... maybe because a dead person actually was in front of him.
"Came to see you before you headed off to work." The older smirked, shamelessly checking out the taller male's lean frame and prominent muscles. "You work out? Nice body, Seok."
"Oh my God, get out! Let me put a damn shirt on first!"
"Fine." Yoongi rolled his eyes before walking out to the kitchen. "I made you breakfast, come to the kitchen when you're done."
Hoseok covered his chest in embarrassment while he watched the ghost stride out with the two pans following behind him like obedient puppies— one of them pulling the door closed with it's handle on the way out.
He scoffed in disbelief. This was definitely not normal.
"Are the pancakes good? I couldn't really taste them since I don't eat and ghosts don't really have a sense of smell."
Hoseok nodded like a happy squirrel. "Really good. I don't usually eat breakfast before heading to work so thanks for this."
Yoongi displayed his gummy smile. "Guess I'll make you breakfast every morning now."
"Who said you could break into my house every morning?" The younger raised a brow, shoving a large piece of syrup-covered pancake in his mouth. "That's trespassing."
"As if the law applies to ghosts." The white-haired male snickered. "And fine.... every other morning."
They sat in oddly comfortable silence for the next few minutes, Hoseok finishing his breakfast while Yoongi watched him enjoy his rusty cooking skill's results.
"Can I ask more about you?" The paranormal investigator spoke up after swallowing the last piece. The ghost nodded. "Where do you live? In that abandoned house we met in?"
"No." Yoongi laughed. "I don't even know who's house that was. I just go there to scare the living to pass time. I'm not really sure where my house is but me and my three friends can sort of just 'teleport' there. I don't really know, I've been dead for decades but I was too lazy to actually look into it."
"You were lazy for decades?" Hoseok questioned in amusement, chuckling when the male nodded again.
"Can I know who your friends are? Did you four... die together?"
Yoongi shook his head like a thoughtful kitten. "We didn't die together— well, not all of us. Two of my friends, Taehyung Kim and Jungkook Jeon, apparently died in the same private jet when the engine stopped working. They died months before us so they watched over me and my best friend, Seokjin Kim when we were still alive. From what they've told me, Jin and I were shot in a night club while we were out partying together. Both of us still don't remember our deaths nor our lives and Tae told us that our shooter was never found."
"So all of you guys were friends when you were still alive?" Hoseok asked curiously, checking the time on his phone screen to make sure he had enough chitchat time before propping his arm up on the table to support his chin. "Were they also famous?"
"Yeah, everyone knew about the close bond between the four of us during our times." The ghost informed him. "All three of them were also well-known singers. Tae and Kook were always seen together because they were dating which was a very controversial thing at the time. There were multiple times that Jin caught himself in scandals between the two because they kind of had a thing for each other. They didn't make their poly relationship official until after they died though."
"So you're a fourth-wheel?" The paranormal investigator laughed at the realization.
"Shut up, you're a third-wheel to your friend's relationship too." Yoongi reminded him.
"And how would you know that?"
"Same way I knew were you lived, sunshine." The older winked. "Went to your work place to look through your files and coincidentally overheard pink frosting talking about date plans with his little Minie."
Hoseok squinted his eyes, pointing a finger at the other male. "You're good."
"'Course I am." Yoongi giggled. "You should get ready before you're late for work. I'll clean up here."
"No, no. It's fine, I'll clean up myself."
The ghost refused, reaching for the younger's plate, offering to wash the dishes, until Hoseok unexpectedly grabbed his wrist to stop him.
Yoongi flinched away.
"Oh, fuck. I'm sorry, did I hurt you? I didn't mean to grab you that hard." The brunet apologized but that wasn't why the other looked so stunned.
"Y-your hand grabbed me. It... I-it didn't go through my skin like it's supposed to." The older stuttered out in shock, slowly examining his wrist.

I didn't notice that Hobi wore this hoodie in one of the Run episodes and the way I gasped because I started writing this book before even seeing thisKXBSKXJSJXKS
P.S. I wrote this book because there was a day where I spent the whole afternoon watching paranormal investing shows even though I usually never watch TV these days 😅 the ideas just came flooding my mind 🤥

Not really a ROTC but how's the book so far? Are you guys enjoying it?
I've been feeling really unmotivated to write this book so I'd have to apologize for that :/ I'm just not used to writing a sope book that's not sad... which is very concerning in my part LMAO but I'll hopefully get used to it soon :)
If you want me to include anything in this book or improve something, do tell <3
Stay safe, I know the world's gone to shit so we need to make sure we have each other's backs 😔💕
