"So you're telling me—" Yoongi narrowed his eyes, staring intensely into the lady's unbothered ones. "That you've been watching over us since the day we died?"
She seated herself on the recliner while the two oldest males sat on the couch with the other two standing behind them.
Doori nodded with a smile. "I was assigned all four of you."
Yoongi looked to his right, glancing at his best friend. Seokjin turned behind him, giving his redheaded boyfriend a confused look. Taehyung looked to his left, raising a brow at his younger boyfriend. Jungkook looked to his left, only to realize that no one was there, immediately breaking their staring chain.
"So what? You just— you just watched us?" The youngest of the four questioned.
The woman nodded again. "I've seen every single thing you've done."
All of them turned a deep red.
The ones in a relationship blushing for different reasons than their white-haired friend.
"What are you? A guardian angel for the dead?" Seokjin scoffed, face still heated from embarrassment.
"You could say that." Doori giggled lightly, finding the group of friends hilarious in person.
"Is there a reason? Does every dead person have someone looking over them? Is this like a job? How much do you get paid? What do you even get paid with? Can I work too?" Taehyung rambled on, exciting himself over his own thoughts.
"Tae, baby." The oldest called softly, gently holding his boyfriend's hand. The younger looked down at him with full attention, urging him to go on. "Shut up."
The redhead gapped, pulling his arm away, clearly offended. Jungkook only laughed, patting his boyfriend's bum who swatted his hand.
"He doesn't know when to staple his own mouth. Ignore him." Yoongi advised the lady who shook her head fondly.
"It's fine, really." Door insisted, crossing her legs with her hands on top of her knee. Her appearance seemed so elegant and intimidating yet her aura was overwhelmingly welcoming— a complete contrast to her own self. "And to answer Taehyung's question, yes, there is a reason, no, not every dead person has someone watching over them."
"But what about my other questio—"
Jungkook manifested a piece of tape, slapping it on his second oldest boyfriend's mouth.
"What's the reason?" Seokjin asked skeptically.
"Well, I might have lied about having all four of you assigned to me." The lady sheepishly admitted. "Only Seokjin and Yoongi were the ones who were actually given to me. As years went by, I became fond of Jungkook and Taehyung while looking over you two. So I couldn't help but take all of you guys under my wing. You could say my mother instinct kicked in."
He didn't know what it was about the older woman that easily earned his trust but Yoongi found it adorable that she saw them as her own kids.
"But why only Jin and me?" The white-haired ghost questioned curiously, his suspicion towards her slowly dissipating.
Doori hummed. "Have you two ever questioned who shot you that night?"
Both males shook their head.
"What about the fact that you only remember your ages?"
The two best friends glanced at each other before shrugging.
The lady laughed fondly. "Have any of you heard of the 27 Club coincidence?"
