Chap.1

It was 7:30 am. Megan had her iPhone the whole time we were transported to this island while ours didn't survive. That iPhone was our only way of telling time. I had my belt around my waist with my telescope on it like I always do. I wore a pink t-shirt that was a little dirty with gray shorts that were barley up to my knees. My shoes were my old sneakers I always wore that were now completely filthy.
I walked down to the beach with 2 buckets. I finally got to the beach and plopped my buckets down on a big rock. I found a strong stick and a rock nearby. I sharpened the stick with the rock and then ditched the rock in the ocean. I dived into the ocean which was a clear, teal blue. I swam further out into the calm current. I spotted a fish and studied its features. Medium size, porgue, and eatable for 2. I swam after it with my stick and finally got it with my 'spear'. I popped my head above surface and swam back to the beach. The fish was put into the bucket and I put my still strong stick into my belt.
I ran barefooted in the jungle. Katie never ran in the jungle, her saying that who knows what you will trip on and fall down a cliff or something. But the rest of us didn't listen. I ran down to a waterfall that was about 12 feet that lead to a small pond. This was where we got our water. I filled the second bucket up with the water and looked around for any eatable insects. 3 months ago, I thought eating insects was the most disgusting thing you could do. But now that I'm not surrounded by other people or television or a stop and shop, this was our way of getting food. With no luck, I made my way back to the 1 floor house we made. Pretty impressive actually. I'd never thought that I would be one of the 4 people who made it. It looked like it was made by 4 adults that would take 5 months to make. But it really took four 13 year old girls to make in 2 months. I waked through the door made out of tree wood. When we first came here, A lot of trees were down, do we used them to make the walls for the house.
"Hello?" I said.
"Hey Olive could you..help me with this?" Jess said from the side of the house where we had dinner because there was a fire.
"Sure what do you need?"
"This!" she held up a dead fish that was a little bigger than the one I caught before.
"Megan told me to,like, skin it!"
I sighed. "I'll do it"
"Good, because if I do it, I'm not eating it"
It was 12:45 now and I was looking for Katie. I had just baited the fish Jess caught and the one I caught. I looked up and saw Katie on a tree, back facing me. We all claimed our own trees. We carved it in. That was Katie's tree, which was the best tree on the island because it had a great view of the ocean. I climbed up a tree 3 trees down from her's. I got up on it. I put my feet on circle metal platform that had a rope on it. I hung on to the rope and swung off the tree. This was our fast transportation from getting to one tree to another. It was processed by a line that hung from the strongest branch and the highest branch of the trees. It was 16 feet down or more, so we had to be careful. I made it to Katie's tree and got off the platform and sat next to her.
"Hey"
"Hey" she turned to face me.
"Whatcha doing?"
"Nothing. Just looking for dolphins" Katie loved dolphins. She always waited for them in the middle of the day.
"Do you want lunch?"
"What's for lunch?"
"Fish. 2 porgies me and Jess caught this morning. And until I find Megan, we might have something else to eat too" did I mention we never had breakfeast? We can't really have pancakes and bacon. Fish would be weird. On rare occasions did we have eggs we find from chickens on the island. Usually we would eat the eggs and the chicken. But today was not one of those days we found one.
"Uh sure. I'll meet you back at the house in a few"
"Alright. While your here, you should look for boats or planes or something" I handed her my telescope. "Where's yours?"
"Left it at home. I woke up in a rush because Jess needed help finding fruit" she rolled her eyes and I chuckled. I went back on the platform and made my way back to the other tree. I climbed down it and walked back to the house where Jess was cooking the fish over the fire.
"Hey where did you get all this fruit?" I asked, my attention on a woven basket filled with mangoes, oranges, bananas, and dragon fruit.
"Megan got that this morning" Jess said. All the fruit plants were at least 2 miles away.
"Is that where she's been all morning?"
"Yeah. Now she's looking for some cotton to make a pillow"
30 minutes later, Megan joined us for the fish and we all thanked her for the fruit she walked 4 miles to and back for. Megan was wearing a red and yellow tye dye shirt with her long, straight brown hair In a ponytail. She wore black gym short shorts that we're pretty dirty. Jess wore a blue bandana around her dirty blonde hair. She wore a green t-shirt that sleeves were cut off and black shirts that went down to her knees. Katie wore a purple tank top with white shorts and her medium length brown hair in a fish tail braid that was over her left shoulder. Me and Jess split the fish I caught and Katie and Meg split the one Jess caught. After that, we all swam in the ocean and went to look for some tree bark to make surf boards. Then we all took pictures with Megan's life long lasting iPhone that still never died. We had a laptop which Rose brought with her, and a charger. It was the computer that had to be immediately shut off to save battery. Then at 5:00, we all started to find something in the ocean to eat. We caught fish and snails and cooked them and ate them. Then we played soccer with a coconut on the beach and looked for animals around the jungle. At 8:00 is when we came back. We all went to the bathroom and freshened up in a pond a mile away that wasn't salt water. We hung our clothes on a line in the loving room and changed clothes. We all had 5 outfits with us. Some we made, some we just had, and some Rose had. We all said good night, and I went into my room I shared with Megan.
"Night Megs"
"Night Liv"
I pulled over the quilt blanket Rose had and laid my head on the cotton pillow I had made. This was just a regular day that we would usually do. But we never got sick of it. This was our life.
