Percy was very confused to say the least. Luke's cheating on Annabeth with her dad? he thought. Maybe that's how the rich people do it.
"What?" Annabeth exclaimed. "Why is he talking to you? He hasn't even spoken to me in months."
Luke sighed. For the first time ever, he seemed very uncomfortable, almost guilty.
"He felt bad for leaving you on the street," Luke admitted. "When he heard you were living with Percy Jackson..." he gave Percy a look of disgust, "he knew he made a mistake. He told me to date you to get you out of here, but-"
"So this was all a lie?" Annabeth asked. "This was all my father's plan?"
"No!" Luke cried. "The thing is, I have always liked you. I want you, Annabeth. Just, move in with me."
She scoffed, laughing bitterly. "Are you serious? You want me to move in with you, after you conceived this master plan with my dad?"
"My feelings for you are real!" he argued.
"It doesn't matter." Annabeth stood up from her seat. "You lied to me, went behind my back with the man who left me homeless, and you repeatedly disrespected Percy. I'm done with you."
Suddenly, Luke's entire demeanor changed. He was no longer a desperate boy in love. His expression grew angry, like a madman.
"See, I knew it. This isn't about me lying to you. You want an excuse to decline my offer."
Annabeth narrowed her eyes and crossed her arms across her chest. "What are you saying, Luke?"
He took a step closer to her and got in her face. "I'm saying that you like living with Percy. You're so in love with that worthless piece of shit that you can't see I've been here all along."
Before Annabeth could respond, Percy stood up from his chair. "Hold up," he said. "I may not have money like you, but I've worked hard for what I have. I lived in the same apartment building as Annabeth, and her rich dad paid for it. I earned it."
"Yeah," she agreed. Luke turned his attention back towards her. He didn't acknowledge Percy's statement, he just stared at Annabeth.
After a few tense moments, Luke said, "we're going home, Ann. Pack your bags."
She stepped closer to him, glaring at his icy blue eyes. "I'm not going anywhere."
What happened next would change Percy's personality forever. He usually didn't fight anyone, ever. He was known as a peacekeeper amongst his friends; the guy who always found a way to talk things out. He didn't want anyone hurting anyone.
But when Percy watched as Luke slapped Annabeth across the face, using all his power...Percy lost it.
She looked up at her childhood friend in shock, a red handprint on her face. Luke stared down at her, expecting her to obey him. Instead, at the same time that Percy charged at him, Annabeth punched Luke in the face.
It was only a matter of seconds until Luke was on the ground, Percy repeatedly punching his stomach, and Annabeth slapping his face.
"Get- off!" he pleaded. Percy stood up, grabbed Annabeth's hand, and put her to his side. He proceeded to grab Luke by the collar of his shirt, lift him up, and slam him against the wall.
With Luke pinned against the wall, Percy got in his face and hoarsely said, "get the fuck out of my apartment and don't you dare contact her again."
He dropped Luke on the ground, and the blonde-haired boy stumbled towards the front door, limping. He had two black eyes (and probably had his ribs bruised). Once he was gone and the door was shut, Percy turned to Annabeth and cupped her cheek in his hand.
Her face was still stained with Luke's handprint, and her eyes were filled with tears. Percy wrapped his arms around her and let her sob as he held her.feel like i should say this. there's never a reason for your partner to slap you, hit you, punch you forcefully, etc. NEVER. if they do, call me and we can destroy their entire career
