Waking up to an early morning alarm was nothing new to you, in fact it was almost comforting to have that constant in your life. Almost. If you had gotten enough sleep the night before you probably would have welcomed the intrusion, but this was not one of those times. You had a vivid dream that was on the edge of your memory as you try to recall exactly what happened, either way you were still exhausted.
You peeled back your sheets and headed to the tiny bathroom attached to your little room, you took a look at the mirror and scowled. You really did look as gross as you felt, your hair was matted to your head from sweat and tossing and turning in your sleep; and you had sleep lines all over your face. You ripped a hair brush through your hair and put it in your everyday hair style, two thick French braids turning into low pig tails at the nape of your neck. You sighed, trying to shake the feeling of the impending day away. It was going to be different but you couldn't tell as to why just yet. You put on your Padawan robes, and clipped your Lightwhip to your belt; and headed to the gym to meditate and stretch before lessons began. It was relaxing to walk the halls before anyone else was awake, it was like a calm before an inevitable storm. It was almost meditative to hear only your footsteps on the hard floor while you headed to your destination.
Once entering the gym, you looked around just seeing how empty it really was. The room was lined with padded walls and concrete grey floors. Inside the room there were plenty of practice sabers to use, a line of dummies used as target practice or to practice new moves on, a meditation corner with cushions, weights on one side of the room, and a square arena to spar in. You took a seat on the padded cushions in the corner and crossed your legs and rested your arms on top of them. Trying so desperately to clear your mind of any unwanted thoughts or emotions; you always felt like this was the best part of your day, to clear your mind of all the noise. Just as your mind started to settle you heard footsteps enter the gym, no need to guess who it was. You could tell by their strong force signature, almost immediately trying to consume you. Your eyes flicked open, and standing right above you smirking was the only other force user beside your master who could knock you on your ass. Ben Solo. "Good morning early bird" he whispered not looking directly in your face but smirking as he talked. "Have you ever heard of not bothering someone while they're in the middle of meditating?" you taunted. Ben seemingly unfazed by your accusation, answered back with no hesitation. "Well princess how was I supposed to know that you were gonna be here, huh?" You hated that he called you that, deep down it tingled in your very bones but you would never let yourself admit that. Now his eyes were piercing into you, like trying to consume you and learn everything they could. You shivered and then shrugged it off, "Well I assumed that no one else would bother being awake this early". He snickered, "You ASSUMED wrong princess". You rolled your eyes and bit the side of your tongue as you spoke next, "Either way I'm meditating, so stay out of my way, okay hot shot?" Ben rose his hands up in defense "Hey I'm just here to get my morning workout in. You won't even know I'm here" He replied trying to hide a smile, "I guess I'll just leave you to it then, you know where to find me." He winked in your direction and then walked over to the dummies, getting ready to practice. You shook your head in annoyance but didn't bother to answer.
Trying to quiet your mind once again from the noise of the world, it worked for a few minutes; you felt the muscles in your face relax first, then your shoulders, and slowly everything else. It felt as though you were floating, not thinking anything in particular, just focusing on the day ahead and the training you were to do. That was violently interrupted by a loud "thunk", you dropped back down and looked up furiously. It was Ben, practicing with a dummy, running through different attack tactics, you could tell how focused he was by the grip on his saber and the tension in his jaw. Watching him reminded you why everyone in your class envied him; he had perfect form and jumped without hesitation, like he knew the exact right thing to do at just the right time. For a little while you watched in awe, looking on as his toned arms swing his saber in the air and into the dummy, memorizing how his brows pulled together when he was concentrating, and how his lips were slightly parted and panting. His amber eyes so focused on what he was doing, you could almost swim in the amber liquid and delve deeper in. You could hear his thoughts, you could feel his anger and something inside that was tearing him apart but you couldn't quite reach far enough to see until you were snapped out of it.
"Enjoying the show sweetheart?", you jumped not realizing how far gone you really were. You looked up through your eyelashes to look at Ben, he talked in a light hearted manner but in his eyes you saw something else, you saw a growing fire. You almost touched something inside him that you weren't supposed to see, and you could tell it made him nervous. You were dumb founded and you weren't quite sure what to say, you most definitely couldn't say "Sorry Ben I just got lost in your eyes." No that would give him too much power over you, and you had worked so hard to be considered his equal in combat. "Well?" he questioned and you realized that you still hadn't said anything, you probably looked like such an idiot, you thought. "Solo if I hadn't been so rudely interrupted by your feeble attempt to do a sneak attack on that dummy I would still be meditating. But instead I decided to watch and take mental notes. So I can kick your ass when we spar next, it's my turn to win." He snickered, "Very convincing gorgeous, but why don't you put your saber where your mouth is." He changed his position with his feet spread apart and his saber over his head, eyes lowering and brows coming together in concentration. Your breath hitched, "Shit!" you thought to yourself, trying to normalize your breathing you responded "You're on Solo"
You got up from where you were meditating, over to the square arena used for sparing, Ben followed closely behind you. Once settling on different sides of the arena you both got into a fighting stance, waiting for someone to make the first move. You looked at Ben, studying him to see if he was going to move or if he was waiting for you. "Ladies first" he chided, his lips tugged into a mischievous smirk. "Awe gentleman as always Solo." You whispered as you unclipped your Lightwhip and ignited it, a long stream of purple light lit up your vision as you looked at Ben. You twirled slightly to get closer to him, being able to feel what he's thinking, you try to surprise him. Instead of throwing your whip right onto his saber, you lashed your whip towards Bens' feet. But Ben was fast and saw it coming, jumping out of reach of your whip and slashed his saber in the direction of your head. You ducked and kicked out your leg to collide with Bens' knee, bringing him to the ground. You jumped up high, pushing off hard on your feet, and you flicked your whip in the air egging him on. Your whip hit the ground with a hard thud, you gasped surprised that it didn't collide with anything. You felt a tap on your shoulder, "Nice try princess." You felt his breath in your ear and that's all the confirmation you needed, as you cracked your whip behind you in his direction, it connected with something. As you turned around you saw your whip wrapped around Bens' saber, he pulled against you hard sending you forward and releasing you of your grip on your whip. Your chin hit the ground and you grunted on impact, picking yourself back up immediately. Seething at the iron taste in your mouth and the searing hot pain in your lower lip, you turned around in the arena trying to find your opponent. You spotted him and ran towards him with no hesitation, and as your right fist was about to collide with his right cheek, you hear the familiar sound of the first bell. You stopped in your tracks and looked at Ben, smiling back at you this goofy toothy smile that you rarely saw on him.
He stepped closer to you and out stretched his hand toward your lip, his hand now cradling your chin. His thumb brushed against your lip with light pressure, wiping the blood off your face. You were surprised by his gentle touch, and couldn't help but melt a little bit into his hand; wishing he would stay there just a little bit longer. Behind you, you heard someone calling you for text reading with Master Skywalker, It was your best friend Wes. "Y/N you coming or what?" you turned around and looked in his chocolate brown eyes. Wes was one of the very first people you met when you came to train to become a Jedi. You were kind of a loner and he was the only one who put up with how shy you were when you first got here. Wes has curly dark brown hair, silver oval glasses, pink cheeks and lips to match; he was taller than you but slender. "Coming!" you responded, turning back to Ben one more time before heading over to Wes. "I guess we'll have to pick this up later Y/N." he winked and picked up his bag and walked out of the room. "Y/N" echoed in your head, he never calls you by your first name; you were so taken back by it. But you didn't have time to think, you walked over to Wes and headed to your first lesson. You spent the rest of your lessons trying to rid your mind of the annoying but gorgeous Ben Solo.
