The football game was pretty uneventful. We won, obviously. Ever since Dylan and I patched things up, he'd been playing much better. If he kept this up, the loss from our first game would soon be forgotten.
After the game, Dean and I split up. I hadn't told him about the party tonight. It was at Andrew's house and I knew if I went, he'd want to come. At least I hoped he would.
Okay, maybe I didn't tell him at the off chance he would still choose to hang out with Skylar over me.
But I couldn't risk the mission. If he came, it would ruin everything. Ben wouldn't come near me with him around, not to mention he probably wouldn't trust me.
Since Andrew only lived next door, I went home after the game to change. Jaz accompanied me because she was sleeping over after the party, so we figured it would be better for her to drive over now. After all, tomorrow was the senior trip.
"Damn, Bella, you're really dressing to impress! Dean's a lucky guy," Jaz laughed as she checked out my outfit. I wasn't wearing anything too fancy. I went with a black bodysuit and maroon denim skirt, paired with black high-heeled boots.
"Dean's not coming," I replied, trying not to give away my real feelings on the topic.
It's for the mission.
"Oh..." she trailed. "Well, whatever. You look good either way."
I faked a smile. "Thanks. You too."
She went with skinny jeans, a crop top, and a leather jacket. It went really well with her purple hair. She looked pretty badass.
She got off the bed and stood behind me. She made eye contact through the mirror and put her hands on my shoulders. "Okay, I know we have a lot of issues within our friend group, but we really need to solve them after our lake trip. Until then, you'll have to pretend."
"Don't worry, I will." I hoped I could.
"Good, because you've been acting weird and everyone's been catching on. Even Will, who's the least observant person in the world."
I turned to her with a curious look. "Speaking of Will, do you know what he and Emma were fighting about before their last breakup?"
She furrowed her brow as she thought about it. "No idea, actually. I wanna assume it's because he wasn't affectionate enough."
"Hm, okay," I sighed. I made a mental note to ask one of them about it someday. Right now, I had bigger things to focus on.
I finished getting ready for the party. My blond hair rested in waves right above my shoulder. I put on light makeup, but enough to make it seem I tried. Jasmine hogged the vanity, finishing up her makeup too.
When I was done, I made sure to spritz some perfume. Then, I grabbed my purse and shoved the cigar box in it without her noticing. I could only imagine the questions she'd ask if she saw.
"Kim's coming tonight, right?" I distractedly asked as I peeked out my window. I could see the raging party at Drew's house.
Kim was an important part of my plan. The only person who'd think of my absence as weird would be Jasmine. With Kim there, she'd be distracted. Dylan would probably be too busy with a girl and I've already been ignoring Emma and Will, so they weren't a problem. I just hoped the girl Dylan hooked up tonight wasn't Emma.
"Yup!" Jaz chirped excitedly. I glanced at her lit up face. She was so whipped. "Ready?"
I grabbed my purse and took a deep breath. "Yup."
We walked over to Drew's house because it was so close. In fact, we went through the fence. It was an easy journey and soon we were in his backyard. Some people were lingering outside but most of the guests were inside.
