Okay, so this is the scene where Bella goes to Ben's house for the first time. I HIGHLY recommend reading this after you finish the book or else it might spoil some stuff.

Although I kept checking my watch, time seemed to slow. Every second that passed, my hopes of Bella joining me tonight diminished.

I needed to get information from her. I needed to know what she would say about Dean, how much she'd let on.

How much she knew.

There were other reasons I wanted her to come, of course. Reasons I wouldn't dare to acknowledge.

Just as the thought came, it disappeared. She was walking toward me, her phone plastered to her ear. I couldn't help but wonder who she was talking to, more so when she ended the conversation with "I love you."

"Who was that?" I asked as soon as she was within earshot.

"None of your business," she flatly replied, her eyes flashing with annoyance. I'd be lying if I said it didn't hit me right in the heart. "Alright, now what's the deal?"

I shook off the weird ache in my chest and pushed myself off the wall. "Since this Dean guy is a force to be reckoned with, I think it'd be best to go to the one place he'd never find us." I hope. If he was anything like me and did thorough research, I'd expect the doors to bust open in a flash. If he was willing to punch me for her, I had no idea what he'd do if he found out we were hanging out alone.

I forgot how short Wilks' legs were until she struggled to match my pace. Silly girl still tried to play it off. "Okay. Uh, where's this?"

My beautiful Veneno came into view, her exterior glimmering in the sunlight. The poor thing deserved to be parked under a shade, away from the leering eyes of the student body, but we all had to make sacrifices.

Plus, I was hoping this day would come. I wanted to make a good impression on Wilks.

A small force came from behind, followed by a soft groan. I turned and scowled at Bella before gesturing to my car. Her annoyance overpowered mine and before I knew it, she was pushing me out of the way to get a better look.

Her eyes widened as she drank in the exquisiteness of my Lambo. Normally people's admiring stares really irked me, but there was something about hers that was different. She looked genuinely impressed and it did nothing to increase my humbleness.

"Veneno?" she asked, her eyes skimming over the silver lettering.

I beamed at her. I was proud of my car, and even more proud I managed to astound her. I patted the roof, the metal scorching my hand, but I made no indication of pain. "Yup. Get in."

Please get in so I can finally have a visual of my daydreams.

Wariness flickered in her hazel eyes and I felt my heart being crushed with her hesitation. All I wanted was to see her in my car, but something told me we weren't on the same page.

The thought almost made me laugh. Of course we weren't on the same page. She was sniffing around for her ex-boyfriend while I was sniffing around for her.

"What about my car?" she asked, gesturing to the general vicinity of her Jeep. The same one I sometimes watched pulling in like an absolute creep.

Still, I couldn't help but be annoyed. It wasn't her fault she couldn't trust me, but that didn't mean she shouldn't. If I wanted to hurt her, I would've done it by now.

I rolled my eyes. "I suppose I can drive and you'll follow." Just saying that sucked. Really bad.

But then she longingly looked at my car again and I could practically feel the desperation oozing off of her. I knew she only wanted to sit in it because it was pretty, but I stupidly hoped it was because she wanted more one-on-one time with me.
