"Sweetie, you look beautiful."
I beamed at the compliment and kissed my mom on the cheek. Instinctively, I flattened down my dress and looked around the hall.
Tonight was the night of the charity ball that my parents were hosting. It was being held in this beautiful banquet hall that looked more like a mansion in my opinion. There was a huge area for the main space, along with the kitchen for caterers, bathrooms, and even a balcony. The hall was decorated for tonight's occasion with sparkly themed items. There was even a photo booth set up in the corner.
"Your friends are coming, right?"
I turned to my dad and smiled. "Yup! All are bringing a plus one too, except Dylan I think." I still wasn't sure what my best friend was doing about his date but I didn't want to know. It was better to be surprised when it came to Dylan.
The hall had a small amount of people lingering around. The event was just starting up. Since I was the daughter of the hosts, I had to come with my parents in a fancy limo. My friends were going to come by the time the event started. It sucked a little because I had a full night of introductions ahead of me while they got to eat an endless amount of food.
We began making our way down the marvelous staircase that led to the main area. It gave the room a dramatic flair and the guests could feel like Cinderella as they walked down.
My red satin dress fanned around me as I walked down. Justin almost stepped on it so I forced him to walk in front of me. The slit on my leg would widen every time I took another step and it honestly made me feel pretty badass. Not only that, but my entire look was pretty stunning if I do say so myself. I was dressed in a beautiful red, satin gown that touched the floor. The v-neck top was held up by two sets of spaghetti straps that crossed in the back. The slit ran up to my mid-thigh but didn't expose too much. The back part of the dress was exposed until my lower back. And the skirt flared out just enough to make me feel like a princess. My dress was complimented with silver jewelry, including a pendant necklace and bangle bracelets. Even my hair managed to be elegantly styled into an updo with pieces fanning my face.
I looked classy.
"So, is Erin coming?" I asked Justin as I finally reached the bottom of the staircase. My parents went to speak to different people to make sure everything was in order while Justin and I stayed back.
During winter break, the two of us were so engrossed in hanging out with our grandparents and exploring the upper east side of Manhattan that we hadn't really had much time to talk.
"Yeah, I convinced her to come," he softly smiled. Man, this boy was whipped. Every time he talked about her, he got this dreamy look in his eyes.
"Aw!" I cooed, fighting the urge to pinch his cheeks. "Don't worry, I'll make an excuse for our parents so you can hang with her." That was the big sister urge in me.
Justin rolled his eyes as he brushed his foot against the floor. "All of their guests want to see you anyway."
"Why me?"
He mischievously grinned. "They all want to set you up with their sons."
"Shut up," I laughed, playfully pushing him.
We both made our way to our table. Our parents forced us to sit with them for dinner, along with some of their biggest clients, so that meant neither of us could sit with our dates. It sucked a little but they promised we were allowed to leave as soon as dinner was over so I wasn't too mad. I'd just have to eat super fast.
"Bella!"
I turned around and a big grin formed on my face as Dylan walked up to us. His hair was slicked back to make him seem put together. He wore a tuxedo just like every other guy would be tonight.
