For a brief moment, an almost eerie silence filled the room, setting itself into the atmosphere, before it was quickly disrupted by the voice of a seemingly happy-toned boy.
"Logan, Roman! Thank you both for coming here!" The boy smiled , glancing forward at the two other boys sat on the sofa infront of him.
One of the boys didn't seem to appear very interested nor concerned by the sudden need for a 'household meeting' that his friend called abruptly, that was Logan. But the other boy, Roman, seemed slightly sceptical of how impulsive the meeting was called.
"Patton, what's this all about?" Roman asked his roommate that stood before him.

"Well..." Patton paused for a moment to give a warm smile "you know how we've struggled to find someone to move into the empty room in this apartment? Good news! I managed to find someone and he's coming tonight!"
"Excuse me-?!" Roman raised his eyebrows as you could hear the immediate confusion in his voice.

"Patton, forgive me if I've made an error or missed out on something here, despite the fact I'm quite confident I have not, but did we not agree that we wouldn't allow someone to move into the spare room unless all three of us approved of them?" Logan asked as he pushed his glasses up ever so slightly, "they're coming tonight, and neither me nor Roman know anything of him?"

Another moment of silence filled the room as Patton glanced down, slight guilt in his eyes. "I know... I know... but the thing is-" he interrupted himself to take a deep breath in "I promise you two, he's a good guy! He's... a friend of a friend! Anyways, it's too late to turn him away, so that's in the past!" He gave a nervous giggle. It was clear to see Patton was trying to brush off the fact he had just invited a total stranger to live with them and didn't want questions to be asked about it

"This isn't very typical behaviour of you, Patton?" Logan mentioned as he scrunched his brows ever so slightly, "is there something we should know about this boy?"

"Nope! Not at all!" He responded quickly, almost too quickly. It was clear on both Romans and Logan's face they were not convinced. Their expressions were plastered in caution and suspicion, causing Patton to take a deep breath in and continue his sentence, "well, his name is Virgil Avenel. He's our age! He's more on the quiet and reserved side but if you get to know him, he's super sweet and funny! But, I'm sure you'll get to know him more once you meet face to face!"

"So we don't even get a say in it?!" Roman raised his voice and straightened his back,"it's nice and all that you think he's a good guy, and no offence, but even if someone punched you in the face, you'd think they're a good person!"
Logan gave a cautious glare over to Roman, showing clear distaste to his outburst of emotions that was on display.
"You shouldn't automatically assume the worst, Roman" Logan mentioned calmly, "in my personal opinion, it is quite strange that Patton would do such a thing without our prior approval, but, Patton is also not the type to put us in danger or do something he didn't believe would be best for everyone, no? So maybe, just have some faith in him?"

Seeing Logan stand up for him put a large smile on Pattons face as he intertwined his hands together and held them to his chest,
"Please Roman! I promise everything and everyone will be ok! You... you have my word on it!" He let out a small chuckle. The natural good vibes that Patton was prone to giving out started to travel across the room, such true sincerity and honesty was evident in both his eyes and tone.

Roman was at a loss for words for a brief moment, switching his gaze between Logan and Patton a few times before opening his mouth to say something & having to wait for the words to come out.
"I... f-fine, Jeez. But, if this kid does ANYTHING sketchy or strange, I will not hesitate to protect you both!" He declared grandly, with that same elaborate gusto he typically had in his voice.

"Awe, that's our Roman!" Patton laughed cheerfully, taking a deep sigh of relief that things had turned out okay, "well, I should probably make sure the house is clean enough for later! Good first impressions are crucial."
