[Romans POV]

It had been maybe just over a week after Virgil had moved in with us. I had kept my promise to myself of keeping a close eye on him but despite all my vigilance I still remained empty handed day after day in regards to any proof that something strange was up with him. Which I guess was a good thing, the fact i had no proof of anything bad was proof itself that maybe Logan was right and I was being slightly childish or maybe even paranoid in my accusations about him. Nevertheless, I still had myself convinced I needed to keep a strict eye out on him, at least for a little bit longer. Until I could confidently come to a conclusion. Even if I still wasn't even fully sure why I had this suspicion about him, I wasn't just gonna abandon it. I mean, a little extra clarification never killed anybody.

It was a late Friday afternoon and up until this point I had never been solely alone with Virgil. Patton was usually with him most of the time if he wasn't in his room and if Patton was busy Logan would provide company to him. Well, i don't even know if you could call it 'company' as words were barely ever exchanged between them, I would really only end up calling it a shared presence honestly.

Anyway, due to the very limited amount of time I had spent interacting with Virgil, it really shocked me when Patton and Logan came to me telling me that they were going out for the night by themselves which would leave me and him home alone together for a large portion of the night.

"I'm sorry, did I hear that right? You want to leave us alone together?!" I exclaimed in objection, folding my arms together and taking a more defensive stand, "with all due respect, I barely know anything about him which leads me to believe we wouldn't be the best at getting along."

"Well kiddo... don't you think that if that's the case, it would be good for you to spend some time with him?" Patton calmly suggested, "I mean who knows! Maybe you'll get along better than you originally thought you would?"

"Patton's right," Logan interjected just as I took a deep sigh in, "making quick assumptions on less than substantial evidence is never a good thing, theres countless chances for error to be made ."

"Well why can't I just come with you? Or you take him with you and I do my own thing?" I suggested.

"You see... Logan and I are actually meeting up with one of our old friends, his named Emile! It's like- a close friend catch up kinda thing! Which is why we didn't invite either of you. Sorry Roman..." You could see the slight guilt start to fill his expression along with worry. Worry for if me and Virgil would be alright by ourselves.

"I- Tch..." I choked over my own words a few times trying to form the right response til a rational and sensical option came to mind. "..Fine," I sighed out, "i'll stay here with him, and i'll try to talk with him, nicely"

The moment the words exited my mouth I saw the light in Pattons eyes return and relight his cheerful spirit once again. "Really? You mean it!?" He smiled widely at me as Logan gave me a nod of approval for my response. His way of saying 'thank you'.

"Yep, I mean it. You and Logan can go out and enjoy yourselves with your friend without worrying for me and Virgil. I promise! Everything will go great!" I proclaimed with a great confidence.

"Aslong as you're sure? I mean, you both have our numbers incase anything really bad happens if you really need us to come home!" Pattons bubbly smirk glowed across his face as he turned his attention over to Logan, giving him a look of pure joy and youthful excitement.

A few more reassurances were thrown back and fourth between us three for a few minutes before Patton trailed off to update Virgil on the news. According to Pat after he returned from the JD-Wannabes room, Virgil seemed willing to speak with me too, which was a slight relief to know it might not all be one sided attempts at communication.

The rest of the day passed as a regular one would, until finally, late afternoon hit.
