(time skip to after school)(Marinette's POV)

Finally, school ended! It was a long day! But there is a big event happening at my house today; Adrien's coming to my house. He even got permission from his dad to come and I can't flop this! Just then I saw Jessica on her way back home. I went to her and pulled her to one side.

Me: Hey! Where are you going?

Jessica: Home. Where else will I be going after school?

Me: No, no, no. You are coming to my house to help me prepare!

Jessica: Prepare for what?

Me: Don't you remember? You promised to come to my house to prepare for Adrien to come!

I dragged her by her arm and went to my house.

Jessica: Wait let me text my mom and let her know!

I entered my parents' shop and went upstairs to my room, with Jessica in tow.

Me: Ok. I'm sorry but I did not practice the song even a little bit and I need your help. Adrien's coming at 5pm, which means we have 1h 30 min to make my voice sound awesome.

Jessica: Ok. First step; listen to the song. Second step; memorise your parts. Third step; sing! Simple!

I have to do this for Adrien.

I took my phone and played the song, One I've Been Missing, until it was engraved into my mind.

Me: I think I can move on to the lyrics.

Jessica: Ok. I'll sing Jade's part to you and you try to get the hang of it and sing it back to me, alright?

I nodded as she started singing.

Jessica:

Me: JESSICA! You never told me you had a great voice!

She just shrugged like it was nothing. I tried to sing it to Jessica. I know I was not as good as her, but she said I was good. Just then, my dad called from the bakery.

Dad (Mr Tom): Marinette! Your friends are here!

Me: Ok dad! Let them up!

Jessica: Friends?

Me: I asked Adrien to bring Chloe with him.

Jessica: Urgh Bourgeois is here? I can literally feel the arrogance in the air!

Adrien came up to my room with his friend.

Adrien: Hey, Marinette! Hey, Jessica! I would like you to meet my friend, Zayn. We go to the same fencing class. He is good at singing so I thought he could help us. My dad and Zayn's dad are close friends. The only reason that my dad allowed me to come here was the fact that he is 3 years older than all of us.

I noticed Jessica awkwardly waving at Zayn. Then I realised that this is the Zayn who lives next to Jessica; the Zayn that she has a crush on.

Zayn: Oh, come on, Jessica! You know we are thicker than that!

Zayn went to hug Jessica.

Adrien: Do you know Jessica, Zayn?

Zayn: Know? We are practically best friends! Our families moved to Paris together. We knew each other in America!

Me: Adrien, didn't you bring Chloe along?

Adrien: Sorry, Marinette. She said no.

Jessica: Just no? She probably said 'I'm not stepping in Dupain-Cheng's house'

Me: Anyway, how about we start.

Adrien: Ya, sure.

I noticed Jessica staring at Zayn. I nudged her to get her out of it.

Jessica: Yes, let's start! Marinette starts first.

She mouthed to me 'you can do this'. I took a deep breath and started singing. She gave me a thumbs up in the middle of my solo.

Zayn: Wow! That was good Marinette! After Marinette will be Adrien's turn. Have you memorised your lines, Adrien?

Adrien: Kind of. I'm not very sure about it though.

Jessica: Its fine, Adrien. We can all learn from our mistakes. Besides, just have fun and let the words flow!

Adrien started singing. I have to admit; it was not the best but that doesn't make me love him less. Zayn told him that it was good, but his face was telling a whole different story. Zayn told him some improvements and some areas that he needed to take note of. Time started to fly as we started practising the song. Then, my dad came up to my room.

Dad: Marinette, it is 8pm already. You and your friends must be hungry. So, I brought you guys a plate of chocolate croissants. Enjoy!

Jessica: Mmm! I love me some croissants!

Me: Let's have a little break and eat these croissants.

Adrien: Ya, I'm starved!

Everyone took one croissant and started eating them.

Zayn: Let's play truth or dare!

We all agreed. I took a plastic bottle from my table and put in on the floor for us to spin during the game. The first turn was Jessica to ask me. I was kind of curious to know what he going to ask me.

Jessica: Ok Marinette, truth or dare?

Me: Truth.

I know Jessica would have something big planned out for me and I wouldn't want to fall into one of her traps.

Jessica: I still have something special just for you, Marinette... Who is your crush?

That rendered me speechless. She did not just bring that up!

Me: I'd rather keep it a secret. It's kind of personal.

Jessica: Oh come on!

Adrien: It's fine, Jessica. If Marinette doesn't want to say, then it's her decision and we have to respect it!

I didn't expect Adrien to defend me but that was really sweet of him. How could any girl not have a crush on him? I spun the bottle for the next round. The next round was for Jessica to ask Zayn.

Jessica: Truth or dare?

Zayn: Well, I'm no chicken! So I choose dare!

Jessica: I dare you to be my boyfriend!
