Chapter 10 ( Ross and Sage )

Mackenzie's Pov

I woke up from my alarm clock. I groaned and hit the snooze button. I rolled out of bed and got dressed and did my normal morning routine. After I put my hair in a side braid and went downstairs to see my dad and another man with his son on the couch talking to my dad. Bruno and Faith follow me as well as the pups. They all looked up at me and my dad smiled. The kid smiled and pet Faith as she sat down next to him. Jade came up to me from behind and we walked to the stables outside.

I walked to Angels stall and got him all tacked up. I walked him out of the stables and climbed on him. Jade got Jack and tacked him up. Before we left, the boy that was in my house came out. "Hi" he said. "Hi" I said back. "Where are you going" " On a trail ride" Jade answered. "Oh,...may I come?"He asked. "I guess" "Thanks" he said. "I'm Luke and this is my horse Arlo" He said as he began to pull a white horse with black mane and tail out of a trailer. The horse was all tacked up and everything. Luke climbed on Arlo and began to introduce himself more. We started to walk the horses.

"I'm 15 and my favorite kind of horse is a thoroughbred," "And this is my dog Maisy" Luke said as a Australian Shepherd pup ran up to Arlo. Jade gasped and stearred Angel towards Arlo so she could pet Maisy. She took Maisy from Luke and cuddled with her while on Jack. I quietly rode Angel while Luke starred at me. "How old are you" Luke asked. "I'm 14" "What's your name" Mackenzie but I prefer Mack" "My dad found two Mustangs and put them online and your dad bought them,"

My phone began to ring. "Hello" I said into the phone. "Mack come here please" "Kay be right there dad bye" "Bye". I put my phone in my pocket and turned Angel around and so did Luke to Arlo. "My dad wants me home" "Okay" Angel began to run home and so did Arlo. I was riding Angel properly like how I'd have to in the race. Once we got home I saw Jade playing with Maisy. "Wow your horse is incredibly fast and your a great rider" Luke said. "Thanks, yeah Angel and I signed up for a race next month"

"Oh". I climbed off Angel and hooked him to the gate by the stables. My dad stood by the trailer Luke got Arlo out of. "Yeah dad" "So George here, found two Mustangs and showed me some pictures of them. I wanted to know since you love Mustangs, if you would like to keep them." "Yeah!! P.S. Luke already told me about them" "Oh" " George trained them very well. " George began to open the trailer and he walked out a dark bay horse and handed the lead rope to me that was hooked to his halter.

Then he pulled out a chestnut horse and handed the lead rope to my dad. "There you go" "Those are both my own" I asked my dad. "Yes" He said back. I loved them but nobody could beat Angel. " What are you going to name them" My dad asked. "Sage for the girl which is the one I'm holding and Ross for the one my dads holding which is the boy" I took Sage to meet Angel and they actually got along pretty well. Then I put both Sage and Ross in the poddock and took out Thunder and put him in the paddock. They got along great. I rode Angel in the paddock and made him run since it was humongous. All three of them ran after. It was cute.

I got off Angel and took off the tack and set it on the fence. I got Sage and walked her towards the fence. Then I stepped on the gate since I had no stirrups and climbed on Sage. I had the bottom half of her mane in my hand to stear her. She rode really , really good. My dad was still talking to George. Luke brought Arlo in and he rode next to me. "Want to race"Luke asked me. "Sure but I can't seem to choose which horse to ride" I said in a sarcastic mode. Luke laughed.

"Ride Sage, I dare you" "Bareback or with tack" I asked. "Bareback" Luke challenged. " Got it". I held tightly onto Sage's mane and got in ready position. "Go" I yelled. Sage began to run and it was fast. Luke and Arlo started to get ahead. Then Sage started to speed up but Arlo and Luke won before she could pass them. We started to walk back on the horses and once we got to Thunder, Angel, and Ross, I slid off of Sage and went for Ross. My dad and George went to run to a couple stores leaving Jade, Luke, and I here. I got on Ross using the gate and I walked him around so he could get used to me.

Then Luke and I raced again. Ross started to get out of control almost freaking me out. I gave him a good pat on his neck to calm him down. Then all of a sudden he started to get out of control again and bucked me off of his back. I flew off and hit the ground only remembering one thing, Luke screaming for help. Then I blacked out. I woke up a few minutes later in my room. I guess my dad was still at the store because only Luke was there. "Where's Jade" I asked. "She's balling her eyes out and was to sad to see you" "Oh". Luke had tears streaming down his cheek. We just starred at each other for some odd reason.

I sat up and gave Luke a hug. It lasted for a while considering the fact of how much he was crying. We pulled away and he said, "So, I'm guessing your not going to ride Ross ever again" I sighed and spoke. "I will but he just needs trained, he's a yearling" I stood up and a flash of pain hit my body making me jolt back. Luke helped me up and said to lay down. I layed on my side and wished the pain away. I then fell asleep.

A few hours past of sleeping and I woke up. "My dad and your dad are at my house" luke said. "Okay". I stood up and walked to my door. Luke followed behind as I opened my door walking downstairs and outside. I walked to the paddock and saw Angel, Sage, and Thunder. "I put Ross in a stable" Luke said. I walked to the gate and Angel ran up to me immediatly. I gave him a hug and put the tack on him that were on the fence still. After I climbed onto Angel and walked him. Thats what I did the rest of the day with Luke.
