Will You Come Back

I woke up and realized it was my last day here at the hotel. I felt sad about leaving Sukii. She was really nice. I got another shower and slipped my clothes on.

   ' I need to go to the gift shop and get some new clothes. '

You took the elevator this time to go to the lobby. You walked to the gift shop and purchased some clothes. You ran to the bathroom and changed into the clean soft clothes and you put your old ones in the recyclable bag. You walked to the cafe and got behind the counter with Sukii.

   " Good morning. "

    " Morning, A/n. "

   " Hey, I wanted to tell you this is my last day here in the hotel. "

   " Really? Aww, I liked working with you. Maybe I can talk to the manager and he can talk to the lady at the front desk about letting you stay longer if you help me every day. "

   " You don't have to do that for me. "

   " I want to though. I like working with you, plus you make some pretty food pastry. "

   " Thanks. Let's get to work now and then we can talk more at lunch okay? "

   " Okay. "

I went back to the kitchen and started baking all of the pastries and setting them in the display case waiting for the customers to buy them. I was focused on my baking all day that I stopped paying attention to the customers that walked through the door. I had just finished baking a strawberry cake and I was cutting it up into slices. I set the cake on a tray and carried out to the display case. I bent down and placed it neatly inside.

   " I would like two slices of that strawberry cake, please. "

   ' I've heard that voice before. '

I closed the case and stood up, looking over the counter at the customer. My eyes widened when I saw who was standing there. He was standing in his usual crouched position with the same white long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans. He was wearing light brown slipper-like shoes on his feet and his hands were stuffed in his pockets. His eyes were focused on me as I felt time stop.

   " I will get it for you. "

Sukii walked over to you and tapped your shoulder.

   " Are you okay, A/n? "

   " I'm okay. "

I walked back to the kitchen and continued to bake cakes and pastries. I watched as Lawliet took the cakes, paying for them, and walked to a table. He sat down and started eating the cakes. I saw him set a laptop down on the table.

   ' Of course, he's working. Why is he here? I thought he didn't trust me. Maybe he's just trying to get me to go back to the task force building to make sure I don't talk. '

I continued to work and when it was time for lunch I asked Sukii if we could stay in the kitchen and hangout. She said it would be fine but I had a lot of explaining to do.

   " So, who is that guy? He keeps buying a lot of our sweets and I notice that he stares at you from time to time. "

   " That is one of the guys I got in an argument with. "

   " Oh, that explains a lot. "

   " I don't know what I should do. He won't leave until I do. "

   " Maybe you should go talk to him and try to settle things. "

   " I will once we are done with work. "

   " A/n you need to talk to him now. You've already baked enough cakes and goods for the rest of the day to be done. "

   " Uhhh..."

   " Go. " Sukii demanded.

I nodded my head and left the kitchen. I walked to the table he was sitting at and took the seat in front of him. He didn't look up at me, he continued to type and eat his cake.

   " I'm assuming you're here to take me back? "

   " You would be correct, A/n. "

   " What has happened so far? "

   " Aizawa left the Task Force, Matsuda is safely back at the task force building, and we are training Misa to act correctly for the Yotsuba group. "

   " I see, things are coming. "

   ' Lawliet is destined to die soon. '

   " Important things? "

   " Very important things. "

It was quiet for a moment before I asked him the question that was swirling in my head.

   " I thought you guys didn't trust me? "

   " Light has always trusted you, Matsuda regrets what he said that night, Mogi wasn't sure when the situation was being dealt with but now he does trust you, Mr. Yagami misses your presence and realizes that you were trustworthy because you haven't broken yet and told us everything. "

   " And you? "

   " I have always trusted you. "

   " Did you trust me because you had to or because you wanted to? "

   " Both. "

   " Elaborate. "

   " I had to trust you because you know my name and you know everything about the Task Force. I did trust you genuinely because you provided me comfort and kindness when you didn't have too. You kept me from being lonely when it wasn't part of the story. So, I do trust you. "

I was speechless at this point in time. It's like the air around me stilled and all I could think about were his words.

   " So, will you come back to the Task Force? "

Now he was looking up from his laptop. His black eyes found my E/c glass orbs and stared. I saw an emotion flash in his eyes and they looked hopeful. Lawliet was known as emotionless in the anime and manga but to sit here and see him show emotion surprised me. I nodded my head and he stood up. He held the laptop in one hand to his side while his other hand was held out for me to take. I set my hand in his and it felt slightly cold. He pulled me up from my chair and we started walking out of the cafe. I set my key card on a table and looked back at Sukii. She held her thumbs up and mouthed ' I'll return it. ' I thanked her and we left the hotel. He didn't let go of my hand the entire time. 

   " Why did you come here yourself? I thought you would send Watari. "

   " I did but when I discovered where you were myself I realized that I needed to come to get you myself. "

   " Why? "

   " To put my mind at ease seeing you were okay. "

I felt a slight redness come to my face and I looked away from him.

   ' What am I doing? I can't have feelings for him! '
