Matt's Life

   ' Alright, today's the day. Please God let this go right. '

I waited in an ally way. A prisoner stood to my left and leaned against the wall smoking a cigarette.

   " When is your friend getting here little girl? "

   " Just wait. He'll be here. "

   " I'm sure. "

I walked up to the prisoner and grabbed the collar of his jacket. Watari was able to contact the prison and they let me have someone due to execution soon. I dressed them in normal clothes and right now I was holding the collar of his jacket and pressing him against the wall.

   " Just shut up or you'll regret speaking up. "

The phone in my pocket started vibrating and I let go of the prisoner. I grabbed my phone and answered the call.

   " Hello? "

   " Y/n, Mello has Takada in his possession as we speak. " Lawliet said

   " Okay, good. Where is Matt? "

   " He's making his way to you. Get ready. There are cars on his tail. Once he reaches the ally you need to get the prisoner inside and he needs to leave immediately. You and Matt need to hide as well until the police cars pass with Ms. Takada's personal bodyguards driving them. "

   " I understand. How far is he? "

   " He is two minutes away from you. "

   " Alright. Keep an eye on him. "

I hung up and looked at the prisoner and started to explain to him the situation. I brought out a map and showed him.

   " You'll leave here and travel through this way and that's it. You can go where ever you want after that okay? "

   " What do I get out of it? "

   " Freedom. If you can escape the cop cars along with the bodyguard's cars then you are free to go. "

   " What about my criminal record? "

   " We can't clean that. All we can do is release you from prison. Did you get it? "

   " Got it. "

   " Good, because I'm not explaining that again. "

Then I heard the roar of an engine speeding close to us. I saw Matt's 1968 Plymouth Road Runner 383 pull up ( That's the actual car from the anime btw. ). Matt got out and he had a cigarette between his lips. He tossed the prisoner the keys. 

   " She's all yours. Go tear up the streets with her. "

   " Thanks. Man, she's a beauty. "

   " She is. Now go have fun. "

The prisoner got in the car and started driving off at full speed. Once he was gone I heard the sirens from the police cars coming. I knew the police and Takada's bodyguards were driving this way. 

   " Matt we've got to go, now. "

   " Alright, beautiful. Let's go. "

Matt grabbed my hand and we started running out. We ran out of the alleyway and down the streets. The sirens were getting louder and louder and I was afraid that they were following us. Matt's grip was tight on my hand as we continued to run. 

   " I have an idea, but I need you to follow up with it. "

   " Alright. Let's do it. "

He pulled me close to him and pushed my back against one of the buildings. He took off his goggles and his fuzzy jacket. He handed them to me and he got really close to me. His hands were on my head and he put our foreheads together. The cigarette was on the ground and he was crushing it with his foot. To anyone, this would look like a romantic scene between a couple but for us, it was a hiding position. I listened as the sirens flew behind us along with the jet black cars of Takada's bodyguards. Once we couldn't hear the sirens anymore Matt pulled away from me. I handed his stuff back and we started walking to Lawliet's hotel.
