Chris
When I was a child, my granny used to say that 'Thursdays are lucky days'. Since then I used to believe that 'Thursdays are supposed to be a good day'. I'm not wishing to win a lottery ticket, I just want today to be peaceful.***
So far it went peacefully, this is what I want, a peaceful day. I went to meet Leah after finishing my project. She was sleeping when I went. I stood beside her looking at her, "How long are you gonna stare at her?", someone behind me asked. I turned to see who the person was. I saw Rachael and smiled.
"She looks so peaceful, Rachael". I continued to look at my baby. Rach stood behind me. "Yeah! Babies look peaceful when they sleep", she agreed with me. "But you don't know, when they wake up in the middle it will be a ruckus..", "actually Leah is an adorable one, I'm not telling about her you know?", she looked a little flustered at her little revelation. "Yeah, I know about Leah". Yet, she didn't come back to normal. How can she? She just revealed that the kids she take care cause trouble. "Don't worry, I get it, I know how other kids can be, believe me, I've seen many kids like you said. Thankfully, Leah is not like others, otherwise it would be a little difficult for me", I said seeing my little bundle of happiness sleeping in her crib.
"What is Leah's mother doing? Is she so busy?", she asked me after a moment of silence. I turned to see her. Actually, this is a topic which I don't want to talk about.. to anyone. She was expecting a reply from me, now I don't have any options, do I? "Her mother... actually her.,", I stopped hearing a ringtone. Rachael immediately searched for the cause and answered her mobile before it can wake the kids sleeping here. She looked at me and mouthed 'sorry', I just nodded and waved her goodbye. I left the place not before kissing my baby's forehead. That's really a close call. Thanks for the caller, now I don't have to talk about her mother to anyone, atleast for now.

I was halfway through my tuna wrap when someone sat opposite to my seat. The girl from the elevator, to be clear. "Hey Chris", she smiled at me. "Hey, Stranger. What brings you here?", "Obviously to have a little nap.. you know, since its a cafeteria, people do come here to sleep", now I couldn't control my snicker. "You don't know that?", she looked a little offended at my sudden outburst. "I'm sorry, next time I'll make sure to bring some pillows", I winked. She laughed and started eating her sandwich. Now being seated across from her, I noticed her deep blue eyes. It looks just like a deep ocean.
She smiled at me with one eyebrow lifted, as of questioning me. She caught me looking at her. "Can I ask you something?", I pathetically tried to change the current circumstance, she nodded at me still smiling. I thought for a second as to what to ask her and then I started to blabber. "I'm Chris..", I looked at her lifting my both eyebrows, "I know.. you said it yesterday in the elevator, right?", she smiled at me confused. "Chris Wood", I said again. Now she is for sure confused, "okay?", "And?", I asked her rising my eyebrows. "And what?... Ooh!! I'm sorry, I forgot", she laughed again. She seems to laugh a lot. I like that though. "I'm Camilla Hale", she said taking a bite of her lunch. "Its a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Camilla Hale", "Oh, just call me Cami", she said, swaying her head every-time she tells me something.
"Tell me about something, Cami", I asked her to ward off the silence enveloping us. "Okay.. What do you wanna know about?", "Anything.. actually, I'm new to this place. It's roughly been a week since I got settled and I literally don't know any places around here except the grocery shop near my house and this building". "Okay, Where are you staying exactly ?", she asked me. "Its actually less than half an hour from here, the Park Street". "Okay, I don't know much about your location but it has a handful number of bars you can go to. umm... There is a couple of malls located in ... am hour travel.. maybe. But its located in two opposite directions, though. You'll have the grocery shops in almost every few streets, so you don't have to worry about that... and..", she continued, but I didn't actually listen to her. I don't know why I asked her this question when I can search it in my phone. I guess this was the first thing popped up to clear the silence, I internally shook my head.
"Tell me about any famous bar around here?", I interrupted her. "We have got many famous ones. But my favorite, no, everyone's favourite in this place is Dezire, everyone loves that place, believe me, when you go there, you'll never wanna come out of that place. It has been the talk since it started. Its been five years, still I've not visited it once", I can see the way she is excited when she talks about this. "You said, its your favorite, why haven't you..", before I could finish she started. "Yeah! I know, I haven't but its worth every penny", I nodded slowly smiling at the excitement in her eyes. I started to strike another conversation but soon interrupted by her phone. Whats with today, me getting interrupted by the calls?
She immediately answered it and kept on talking, arguing? with her caller. I don't know, I tried not to hear anything to give her a little privacy. Since it became a little impossible task, I took my phone and scrolled the news-feed. "Sorry, Chris. I've to go", she said slightly irked. "That's okay", I smiled. "Nope, am sorry. I've got some work to do. Gotta teach someone a lesson", she said a little distanced. "Yeah. Take care, will meet you tom", "Sure, ofcourse", she smiled back and stormed off.
She is like a storm, coming when you are least expecting and storming off the same pace she arrived. Even though, it is our first official meeting, it felt like I knew her for a long time. We talked like some long-lost buddies, even its for a very short time.
