Hinata POV
Its almost been a week since I've joined the team.

My official MSBY number is 21 and my official debut will be in the V.League tournament.

Although I'm not a regular, it's great to be playing indoor volleyball again.

The team is really, really good and there's even a guy who's 207cm! (6'9.5)

That's some good news anyways...

Ever since the first day of training, Atsumu and my relationship has just gone downhill.

It's not bad bad it's just... awkward.

I'd get so jumpy whenever he'd speak to me and just dumbly apologise straight after.

I haven't looked him in the eyes since he set to me for the first time.

I thought we'd be fine by now.
I hoped we would at least.

He's good at keeping his cool.
No, he is cool about the whole thing.
I'm the real issue here.

Most of the train rides home are quiet.
I can tell he wants to talk but he stops himself from doing so.

I would ask him why but I'm afraid of his response.

"What am I? A kid" I mumble to myself.

I stare out my window and to his building.
His apartment is on the other side of my view.

I wonder what he's doing right now...

Atsumu POV
"Over here Inunaki!" I called, waiting for the ball to be above me.

Like clockwork I saw the it about to fall into my hands.

I jumped slightly, taking control of it and set it to the wing spiker behind me.

"Shou- Uhh Sakusa!" Before I even had time to look back, he had passed our blockers and hit the ball to the floor.

"N-Nice kill" I said awkwardly, hoping nobody picked up on my misnaming.

"Shouyo, huh?" I jumped as Sakusa teased "Is he the reason you've been so spaced out recently"

"I have not" I say as we walk together back to the sides for a break. "H-Have I?"

Sakusa just scoffed.
I looked over to Hinata.

He was still praising Barnes-chan about his height.

"So how tall were you in high school?!" he gushed.

Barnes seemed flattered by the sudden praise; I guess since a lot of people were jealous of his height he never got straight up compliments.

I know how he feels right now.
Hinata can make anyone feel like that.

"Okay" Sakusa sighed snapping me out of my thoughts "I don't know what kind of 'history' you both had but maybe you should talk to him about it"

"What good would that do?" I asked.

"If we get to a real game and you guys are messing up because you can't look each other in the eye, that's going to be an issue for everyone"

I didn't think about that.
I guess that would be an issue.

"I don't think I can" I sighed "This kind of thing is not something people 'talk' about"

"Don't be a baby"

"I'm not!"

"Just have a conversation with him"

"It's complicated-"

"Doesn't matter. Just talk like adults. Unless you're still children of course"

I avert my gaze as he smugly looks at me.

Just talk to him.
Talk...

Hinata POV
I talked to everyone to avoid having a solid conversation with Atsumu.

I didn't feel a need to have to talk to him.
Or maybe I was just trying to avoid him all together.

"Hinata..." he called softly as he walked castle toward me.

Great.
There's no avoiding him now.

"W-What's up Atsumu?" I said, still not looking at him.

"Can we talk?" he says softly, almost like a whisper.

"Depends" I say shyly "What about?"

"I think you know exactly what I want to talk about"

I did.
But the thing is I really didn't want to.

Our whole situation has been buried in the back of my mind for all this time and I find no reason to dig it back up.

"We don't need to" I say "Nothing's wrong"

"Of course something's wrong!" he says "You won't even look me in the eye"

I didn't even realise I was trying not to look at him.

I slowly do however just to prove my point.
It's awkward for me yes, but it's not as bad as I thought it'd be.

"Is high school still on your mind?" he says

"So what if it is? Unlike you I'm not exactly an expert in this particular situation"

"But you were fine the first day"

"I was just happy to see you again"

"And you're not now?"

"That's not what I said!"

"So why are you finding this so difficult?!"

He raised his voice a little and I guess a few people started looking our way.

"I'm sorry, ok!" I said back, ignoring the eyes of the stadium. "I don't hate you I just don't feel the need to talk about what happened!"

"It's not going to go away until we talk about it!"

By now the whole gym was looking at us.

"Easy there" Meian said tapping Atsumu on the shoulder.

I guess he didn't realise what he was saying since his expression completely changed once he'd calmed down.

"Hinata" he said to me "Why don't you take a break"
