After We Clashed

Chapter 24.

A tall handsome guy called everyone's attention to the front stage.
"Hello well wishers and loved ones,we really appreciate your gracious presence in this wonderful gathering tonight".

He continued saying something I didn't bother to listen to meanwhile jessie was already screaming in utter surprise,drawing attention to her.

'Wow,how does grumpy girl handle such a friend,i will have sent her packing if it were me,thankfully it's not.

The speaker said."Happy birthday Jessie,this song is for you.
Jessie became tearful,as she scanned around for who I think is her friend.

I put my hands up,Common seriously what's with the drama,I shake my heads to prove my point.
Miles chuckled and continued with his phone.

I check the time,she has been gone for thirty minutes or so,what is keeping her and what did she go to do?
I was becoming more and more restless by the minute.
I look at jessie,she was into the song the guy and some band was singing to remember she didn't see her friend around and after a while Miles offers her a dance.

This is one of the time i wish I could use earphones,i shook my head and continued waiting for grumpy girl.

Ten minutes pass by,twenty followed obediently but still nothing.
I stand up in annoyance and said.
"Okay that does it,I'll go search around for her,I don't care if she likes it or not.

I got to the other side of the party but she was not there,so I hurry through the cool early night down a walkway, nobody was in sight but I decide to give it a try.

For God's sake it's her friends birthday,does she have to be out that long.
I continue walking quietly looking around for any sign of her.
The house is more than big,where exactly does it end and where do I start from?

I was about to take the left route but I hear someone screaming.......

Kate!

I stopped and look the other way,there was a small cabin afar of so i ran as fast as I could to the cabin..
Entering the open way I see a drunk guy probably from the party.

He staggered nearer to her saying something,"Don't be scared,he vomited near her a little cleaned his mouth and continued, "you look to beautiful to be overlooked",he eyed her erotically.

Rage filled me instantly,grumpy girl looked weak and so scared,she was shaking like a compelled leaf.
I move closer to the guy,held him and gave him a swift punch in the eye.

"That's for looking at her like that".

I punch his nose again and said
"That's for thinking of assaulting a Girl"

And I punch him in his cheek bones.
"This if is for making kate the girl you thought you could mess with".

I couldn't control myself,i gave him several more punches while he grunted feeling the full force impact of my hands.

I heard Kate's silent cries and I let go off the guy,he must have passed out.

Grumpy girl sat down holding her legs tight,she looked like she was in a horrible trance...

'Hey',i say softly,going near her,I took her hands but she jerked away in fear.

"Calm down,take it easy it's just me,the annoying guy".
I never thought I'll call myself annoying but that's what she knew me as so I said it to reassure her.

She looked at me,her blue eyes piercing my soul,I use my hands to set her rough hair,it must have gotten that way in the bid to wiggle free from the physco guy.

I blamed myself for not coming earlier,the next action she exhibited was shocking.
She pulled herself to me and hugged me,crying her eyes out.
I could have sworn,i heard my heart beat more than usual.

I get over the shock and held her,we were still in an uncomfortable position.I was kneeling while she sat down.
"It's going to be okay",'let it all out.i patted her back.
We maintained the position for few minutes,all the while she continued crying and didn't let go from the embrace.
I didn't need her to because she fitted perfectly in my arms.

She pulled out after she became sober but to my dismay.

"Uh,"I'm sorry about that",she lowered her face in dejection and full force embarrassment.

This girl is full of surprises,"who needed an apology?
i thought grinning from ear to ear.

"Thank you"......she looked confused and undecided.

"I'm Drake,I cut in removing my suit jacket and wrapping it around her shaking body.it was quite cold out here and her knuckles were reddish from the cold.

Thanks Drake,"I don't know what would have happened if you didn't show up here at the nick of time".
She said sadly.

It's okay,'I'm glad I came'.she looked like she was about to say something but she instead panicked touching her neck line.

"My necklace!she stood up and Started looking around,i understood she lost her necklace so I joined to help her look around but there was no necklace in sight.

"I'm sorry but we've been searching for sometime now,let's get back to the party,before everyone becomes worried.

She nodded tearfully and with a sad expression,the stuff meant a lot to her and by the looks of it,seems it was given to her by someone special.
"I wonder who is the lucky guy.

Anyways I knew I didn't like that expression on her face.
I became determined to get back her necklace.....
