Kate's POV

I looked at the guy that saved me with so much appreciation as we walked back silently to the party.

Why me? I'm beginning to think I'm caused.
I'm the only one at the receiving end of bad luck and today will have repeated itself only in more different circumstances.

I would have been assaulted,I fought back more tears that threatened to spill.

Why I'm I facing all this,who did I offend?this time around he came like an Angel in human form.

Why did he come looking for me?I had so many questions but it was something for another time.

I sighed sadly remembering my granny's necklace that got lost during the struggle.it was the most painful thing actually out of my miserableness.

Will she forgive me?
I couldn't protect her given treasure.
I looked at Drake again not knowing I could smile and not just only roll my eyes at intervals.
I chuckle remembering our constant throwbacks.

We've never really been on good terms,it's funny how circumstances makes you see a person from a different perspective.

Now I see him as an Angel and the fact he thought about my whereabouts makes my wounded heart flutter.

"Thanks for the coat and Drake,I'm Kate by the way.....

'Ellison' he cut in
Yeah I know,I've heard your name more than thrice he said deep in thoughts.

I nodded and said "but I just heard yours today".

'Perfect timing huh',he said smiling.

"I've been a little grumpy I guess",I admitted the grumpy part reluctantly.

He smiled with glee,"so now you agree with me?

I shrugged equally smiling."I do owe you one Drake".

He stare at me smirking,"I'll add it to the list".

I stop and also meet his eyes both of us lost in oblivion.

Jessie shouted running to our direction Making I and Drake cough in embarrassment.

"It's not fair, where have you been?
she frowned looking at Drake suspiciously.

Drake was about to say something but I didn't want to tell Jessie the truth,I can't ruin her birthday night so I cut him before he could speak.

"I'm sorry Jessie,'I lost my way and Drake here happened to be walking past,so we are here"........

I gave Drake a side eye so he play along.
"Yeah that's what happened",he rubbed his hair uneasily.

Okay, Jessie said buying the story.
You missed my brother,"Elton's performance".
"It was so great! She said happily.

Her brother Elton must have arrived with her dad but didn't show up knowingly to surprise her with his band.
He followed their mother's footsteps in the music industry.

I smiled without saying anything.
Thankfully her birthday went well and that was all my today's wish for her.

Miles came around,"Drake where have you been?he had a worried expression.

I couldn't help but pity him,who knows what he thought about his missing friend and it literally my fault but still I'm grateful he took it upon himself to look for me.

You Know,Drake scratched his head again."I decided to take a stroll".

Miles looked at him in disbelief but nodded,he then went over to Jessie to probably say one or two things.
