Chapter 12

Annie

"What are you thinking about?" Jaden asked scooting close to me

"Nothing just nothing" I answered, my thoughts today have kind of been all over the place ever since Blaine informed me he's ready to free my father from his Limbo prison.

"You can always tell me anything and I won't judge" he offered.

I really like Jaden, over these past few months, I've taken interest in him, he's really easy to talk to and a great listener but although sometimes I feel he's hiding something like the fact that I barely see him eat and he always shields away from telling me much about his family.

Today's Biology class was the worse and I've never been so confused in my life, Mrs Lawson kept blabbing about how the left ventricle and aorta did this and that. But my mind was far away and I began to reminisce over the nightmare I had. I could see my dad struggling and in pain, bitter pain and he didn't deserve being punished in whatever place he was stuck in. His cries were loud in my ears and I just wanted it to end.

I needed to clear my head so I decided to skip lunch and take a walk outside of school but instead I got caught.

"Where are you going?" She asked me pulling me away from my thoughts

"Oh, it's just you" May was looking at me like I had grown to heads.

"Is everything alright?" She asked

"I'm fine, just wanted to clear my head" I told her

"Yeah, sometimes high school can be too much, I'm glad is finally coming to an end" she added

"Yeah..." I muttered

"But explain this to me though, how are you and Max in the same class like isn't he like older than you or something?" She asked

"Max is actually adopted but we don't talk about it and besides he's my brother and I've known him like forever so it doesn't really matter" I explained.

"Never said it did" she smirked trying to be a wise ass

"But you were thinking it" I argued

"But I can see some resemblance though" she added

"Well yeah, I guess when you live with someone for so long you begin to like each other and why are you asking me about Max so much, why don't you just talk to him and ask him about this kind of stuff" I asked, I know Max and May have been having some issues but they are like the perfect couple and their names I mean, it's a match made in heaven

"I don't know if you know this about your brother but he's kind of standoffish and I know my limits with him plus we're not seeing each other anymore" she said with sadness on her face

"Why?" I asked

"I don't know, I really don't know, I guess we just lost touch and disconnected from one another but I've got a new boyfriend and he's absolutely perfect" she said smiling

May had managed to take my mind off everything going on in my life, despite her making the entire discussion about herself and Max, I think deep down she still loves him but sometimes love is not enough or so it seems.

"Hey honey" my mom greeted as I strolled into the house.

"Hey mom" I replied her.

"I know I haven't been around these past few weeks, things have been crazy at work and I've been busy with all the cases I've been handling. My assistant Natalie has been an angel with all the organising an-" yep, that's my mom.

I love her so much but sometimes she can be a little too much, only my Dad could tolerate all her talking but now he isn't here anymore and she turns to us instead but not today, instead I decided to take a hot bath and calm my nerves and wash away today's mess.

Today just keeps getting weirder and weirder, like something is tell me not to free Dad from Limbo, I don't want to even imagine what kind of daughter doesn't want to see her dad's soul free from eternal torture. I must be sick in the head or something.

"Max is everything alright" I asked entering into his room but he was lying on his bed and his hands were on his head like he was having a headache.

"I'm fine, what going on with you" he asked

"I heard about you and May, I just want to say I'm sorry it didn't work out, I know you really liked her" I offered

"Don't worry about it Annie, she's just been acting weird, that's all" he said

"She's wasn't that weird" I said

"You spoke with her?" He asked as he say upright.

"Yeah, she looked and fine and kept talking about you too" I explained some of our discussion to him

"Did you notice anything weird about her, like any mark on her neck" he asked

"No, not really why?" I asked, trying to understand where he was going with this

"No reason, just wanted to know" he said quickly

"Are you asking if she had hickies on her neck" I giggled about him being jealous

"Of course not, I know she's seeing someone but I don't really care" he muttered but his face showed interest

"Yeah, right. Anyway I'm going to Blaine's place" I offered

"Cheating on your boyfriend?" He smirked but his lips showed he was only teasing.

"No, and I don't have a boyfriend" I laughed

"Of course you don't have cause you belong to what's his name again, uh.. Jaden, Blaine, oh and Andrew" he joked at my expense.

I could feel my cheeks reddening but I'm not interested in all these guys except maybe Jaden and besides Andrew is just my stalker whereas Blaine is like my hot friend.

Blaine opened his door and let me sit on his bed

"So this is how it's going to go, I'll need to go with you into Limbo and free your father, I'll act as a guide to make sure you and I get out of there safely and liberate your father's soul"

"Okay, let's do this" I said

"Are you ready?"
