After returning home, I got a message from Diya that the boss was happy with the deal we made back in London and gave us a week off. I was relieved with the thought that I didn't have to go to the office the next day but I didn't know that my mom had a big surprise for me after my return from London.
"Hey mom, how are you? Where's dad?" -Ayaan
"He's gone to meet one of his friends, he'll be back soon. How was the meeting trip?"-Mom
"It was great!" -Ayaan
I was able to sense that there was something fishy as my mom kept smiling the whole time she spoke to me. She used to have the same smile when she had to take me to the doctor when I had to get vaccines.
"Mom? What and all happened at home in my absence?" -Ayaan
"About that, why don't you take a seat"-Mom
"Ok, now tell" -Ayaan
"I have sent your biodata to one of my friend's sister and guess what? The girl's parent liked you and they want to come to our house this Sunday"- Mom
"Whaaaaaat? Mom, I said you not to force me into this and you have already chosen a girl for me without my consideration?" -Ayaan
"Not to worry, if you don't like this girl, it's fine, there's a list of girls I've made. We can choose from that."-Mom
"I seriously don't know what to tell, I'm going to sleep now, I need some rest, I'll talk about this tomorrow morning, but this doesn't mean that I've agreed to this." -Ayaan
"Yeah, we'll see, ok go now and take some rest."-Mom
The next morning, I woke up and went jogging as usual. After returning I saw my dad sitting outside feeding our birds.
"Son, when did you come? I had gone outside to meet one of my friends and by the time I came back you were in deep sleep, so I didn't want to disturb you." - Dad
"I came at 8:30 PM and it was a long journey so I needed some rest. Apart from that, what is going on? Mom has sent my biodata to one of her friend's sister and the girl's family is coming this Sunday?" -Ayaan
"Ohh yeah, be prepared my son, your gonna have an amazing weekend."- Dad
"Why didn't you mention this when I had called you from London?" -Ayaan
"I didn't want to ruin your trip, and besides your meeting was more important for you at that time. So, I didn't mention it because you'll take unnecessary stress, and also who can stop your mother when it's about your marriage"-Dad
"Ok come in, let's talk about this" -Ayaan
I and my father went inside the house. My mom was busy preparing breakfast. I went to my room & came back and sat at the dining table. Even dad joined me after a few minutes.
"So, mom, about this Sunday visit, I think" -Ayaan
"Don't utter a word, I'm not going to listen to any of your reasons. I gave you enough time but not now, that's it."-Mom
"Dad, why don't you tell something?" -Ayaan
"What can I do my son? And besides its high time that you start to think of having a family"-Dad
"I have you both. What more do I need? Mom, I'm not ready for this, I'm sorry" -Ayaan
I was pretty loud and furious when I spoke. Mom went inside the room without telling a word. Dad went behind her to console her. After getting stressed up, I called my friend to meet up, as usual, I do whenever I'm stressed. So, I took my bike and left my friend's house. Then we went by the lake for a walk like we usually do.
"Hey Kabir, wassup?" -Ayaan
"Hey Ayaan, you seem low. What happened?" -Kabir
"Nothing, I argued with my parents." -Ayaan
"About what?" -Kabir
"You know right, about my marriage and how my mom is mad about it" -Ayaan
"Hmmm, but she's right. Look Ayaan, things change over time. After I get married, I don't think so we'll be able to spend time like this" -Kabir
"What?" -Ayaan
"I mean priorities change. We'll be friends, best friends, that's for sure but you know, we get all kinds of responsibilities after getting married, it's hard to take out time for friends"-Kabir
"But why are you telling me about this? I didn't get you"-Ayaan
"Assume that u got stressed and u called me as you do in 'future' and I'm out with my family, do you think I'll be able to make it to you as I did now?"- Kabir
"Hmm, no, no you can't"- Ayaan
"And your parents aren't going to be there with you forever. That's why your mom is so worried about you. Try to understand, and besides, I won't be able to get a bachelor's party until u decide to get married so.."- Kabir
"Ohh come on.."-Ayaan
"Yeah"- Kabir
After returning home I went and spoke to my mom about it and agreed. She was really happy after listening to my decision.
"So, at what time are they coming? Wait a minute. Usually, a guy's family goes to the girl's family's house to meet. Why are we doing it oppositely?" -Ayaan
"Their daughter isn't at home. She has gone to Mumbai to attend one of her friend's wedding." -Mom
"So?" -Ayaan
"There's no one except her parents at home. So, we thought we shouldn't give any trouble to them. So, I called them to our house for dinner." -Mom
"Hmmm, ok fine"-Ayaan
"Let's start the preparation"-Mom
"Ok your highness"-Dad
