After Ruhi completed her Kindergarten, I decided to take her back to India.
"Kabir, I think it's time I take her back to India" -Ayaan
"Yeah, she'd do better over there, where will you stay by the way?" -Kabir
"I spoke to my old landlord, to find a place for me and guess what, he still has our old house. There were some issues with the property, so he didn't demolish the house" -Ayaan
"That's great" -Kabir
"Yeah, I'm happy to return back to India. Anyways, when is your project finishing?" -Ayaan
"I'll be done within in a month, and even I'd be returning back soon" -Kabir
"Good. I'm booking the tickets for tomorrow's flight. I'm done with traveling. Once I reach India, I'd never travel anywhere" -Ayaan
"Yeah, I know, home is home" -Kabir
The next day, before going to the airport, me and Ruhi went to the place where Riya was resting in peace. We both stood in front of her memorial and prayed for her soul.
"Riya, I promise I'll take care of Ruhi for you. I'll love her the same way I loved you. I never felt like I lost you. Ruhi's face reminds me about you and I feel your presence all the time. I hope there was a way where I could tell that we are alright, I know you're looking us from above, I'd hope you'd rest in peace" -Ayaan
After standing there for a while, me and Ruhi left the place and headed back to the airport. On reaching India, I called Ria, my friend.
"Hey Ria" -Ayaan
"Oh hi Ayaan, long time, what's up?" -Ria
"I'm standing here outside the airport but I can't see you. You told you'd pick me from the airport if I come to India" -Ayaan
"You're in India?" -Ria
"Yeah, I just landed" -Ayaan
"Give me 30 minutes, I'll reach as fast as I can" -Ria
"No no, that's fine. I just wanted to get in touch with you. I'll send you the address of my old house, you can come and meet me there" -Ayaan
"Yeah sure" -Ria
"Ok, see you later" -Ayaan
"Yeah, bye" -Ria
We took a cab and went to our old house. After entering inside, memories started hitting and I was feeling like young again. When I saw my room, I felt so nostalgic, felt like I never left the place. I called Shyam to come back and work for us. While I was showing the place to Ruhi, Ria came.
"Hey Ria" -Ayaan
"Hey Ayaan, it's been long. How are you?" -Ria
"I'm fine, here meet Ruhi" -Ayaan
"Oh she's so cute, Hi, my name is Ria" -Ria
"Oh, even mommy's name was Riya, but nice to meet you" -Ruhi
"Ruhi, go and play in your room, me and Ria have some work to do" -Ayaan
"Ok Ayaan" -Ruhi
Me and Ria came out in the balcony.
"Who is she Ayaan?" -Ria
"She's Riya's, I mean Riyanshi's daughter" -Ayaan
"Oh, but you told she wasn't in contact with you, I don't understand, what happened?" -Ria
I told Ria about everything. From the start where I helped Riyanshi with her relationship until the recent incident. We both were quiet for a while.
"Before she died, I promised that I'd take care of her daughter" -Ayaan
"Hmm" -Ria
"And I thought bringing her back to India was a good idea. For both of us" -Ayaan
"You did the right thing by coming back. Anyways, did you eat something? you guys look hungry" -Ria
"I want to eat pasta" -Ruhi
"Ok, let's make pasta for Ruhi" -Ria
"Yaay" -Ruhi
Soon, Ruhi got attached with Ria, I think more than me. But Ruhi was happy, and that's what I wanted. Ria used to visit us every day and we all used to have fun together. Kabir and Suhana also joined us when they returned after a month. I joined my company back and they were happy to welcome me back. Ruhi joined a new school and visited her grandparents every weekend. Even my parents returned from Canada to live with us. Everything had become the same, as it was a few years back, and that's what my fate had decided for me.
When I was hanging out with Kabir, he posed a question,
"You miss Riyashi don't you?" -Kabir
"Yes, I miss her a lot. When I miss her, I go up on the terrace and look at the moon. When the moonlight falls on me, I feel it's her, I feel her every time I do that. Besides, when I'm with Ria and Ruhi, I never felt like she's gone. They both remind me of her and I'm happy, having them both in my life." -Ayaan
"Hmm, I'm happy for you. By the way, let's go to our place, it's been a long time since we visited the café. I heard they have renovated the place. Come, let's get something to eat." -Kabir
"Like old times" -Ayaan
"Yup, like old times" -Kabir
All things had become the same as they were a few years back. Returning to India, moving back to the same home, joining my company back, hanging out with Kabir, feels like nothing changed except, now I had two new people in my life. Maybe this is how it was meant to be.
