I had the crew from the company, waiting for me near the exit after I landed at the London airport. Then I realized that I had lost my phone while I tried searching my pockets, I might've left it at India's airport before boarding the flight. Then they took me to the apartment where I was going to live. The apartment was in the Greenwich town of England which was beautiful. They kept my luggage in the apartment and gave me a new phone to contact if I needed something. I took out my diary and searched for Kabir's contact number and made a quick call to tell that I've reached safely. Then, I made a video call to my dad.
"Hey dad" -Ayaan
"Hey Ayaan, did you reach safely?" -Dad
"Yeah dad, I'm in the apartment now" -Ayaan
"Yeah, I can see that. The place seems to be decent and classy" -Dad
"Wait until you see this" -Ayaan
I showed him the outside view and the neighborhood from the balcony.
"It's amazing Ayaan. Which place is this?" -Dad
"It's a town in England called Greenwich. The office is at a walkable distance from here. So, they thought this is the right place for me" -Ayaan
"Hmm, sounds good. When are you coming here?" -Dad
"Not at the moment, I have loads of work to start. Tomorrow is my first day at the office as the Senior Engineer. I'm getting nervous dad" -Ayaan
"Then remember what I told you on the day of your interview. Remember we had a 'Dad to Son' talk?" -Dad
"Yeah, I remember" -Ayaan
"All the best then" -Dad
"Thanks, dad, tell mom and others, I said hi to everyone" -Ayaan
"Ok, I'll, take some rest. You have a big day tomorrow" -Dad
"Ok dad, I'll call you tomorrow" -Ayaan
"Fine, take care, bye" -Dad
"You too, bye" -Ayaan
The next morning, I was called by the General Manager to report at 10 AM, to introduce me to my team with whom I was going to work. I got dressed up, had a quick breakfast, and decided to walk to the office so that I can see how the neighborhood is. After reaching the office, I went to the General Manager's cabin.
"Hello sir, May I come in?" -Ayaan
"Yeah, Ayaan, come come. It's a pleasure to meet you" -Manager
"Pleasure to meet you too sir" -Ayaan
"Come, I'll introduce you to your team" -Manager
"Sure sir" -Ayaan
"Everyone, meet your new Senior Software Engineer, M.r Ayaan. He's from India. A year back, he and his team convinced the investors to have a branch in London too. They are the reason why we all are working here. I hope Ayaan will cope up and coordinate with his team. Can I hope Ayaan?" -Manager
"Yes sir. I'll do my best" -Ayaan
"Great, start working then. Paul will show you the cabin, you can operate from there" -Manager
"Sure sir" -Ayaan
I introduced myself to my team and spoke about my former experience in India. I was able to easily make a relationship with everyone. I had 5 junior engineers in my team who reminded me of my old teammates. As they say, time just flies, it's really hard to catch up with the time. I got myself busy in work-life so much that, it was hard to believe that I spent 2 years working in London. After a long time, we got this big project from an E-Commerce company which was based in New Jersey.
