After coming to New Jersey, I was feeling a bit positive. Wedding preparations can be hectic, but there's enjoyment in that. All families coming together after a long time, chit-chatting and stuff. Even mom and dad arrived the next day after I came. The preparations were on a boom. Everyone was in kurtas and sarees, it's been 2 years since I wore a kurta. The wedding day had finally arrived and I was excited, as well as nervous for Kabir.
"Dude, it's time to go to the mandap, you ready for this?" -Ayaan
"Yeah, I guess" -Kabir
"Feeling nervous? I have a car waiting outside, we can still escape. Your freedom is in your hands" -Ayaan
"Instead of consoling me, you're telling all this" -Kabir
"Chill, it's going to be fine, it's time for you to have your own family. Have kids and all. Bachelors life is over for us" -Ayaan
"Hmm, you're right" -Kabir
"Yeah, and we can't keep telling people we are single. At least if we get married, no one will ask our relationship status" -Ayaan
"I know right, I didn't think of that at all" -Kabir
"Kabir, everyone has come, come out" – Kabir's dad
"Yeah let's go" -Kabir
The wedding ceremony begins and seeing Kabir getting married made me a bit emotional, because we won't be able to hang out as we used to, during the college days. Life has many stages and we have to cope up with them.
After the wedding ceremony was over, I had to greet the guests and make sure they had their dinner. The usual stuff we do at weddings. Finally, the wedding was over and everyone had left. The next day, Kabir and Suhana left to Paris for their honeymoon while I was visiting tourist places in New Jersey with my parents. After 3 days, Kabir came back as he had to get started with his work. I was going to leave for Canada with mom and dad but, Kabir forced me to stay for a few more days, get to know Suhana, go out together and have some fun. So, I decided to stay for a week.
While all relatives were gone, the fun began. No restrictions or anything. We were still enjoying the bachelor's life. Staying up all night, watching horror movies, having a pool party, it was so much fun. The other day, Kabir and Suhana left early for their work while I was still sleeping. In the afternoon I got a call from Suhana.
"Hey Ayaan" - Suhana
"Hey Suahan, tell" -Ayaan
"I'm stuck at school, and I can't find any cab. Can you come and pick me? Kabir is busy at the office" - Suhana
"Yeah sure, I'll be there in 10 minutes" -Ayaan
Then I left to pick Suhana from school.
"Thank god you came, else I'd be struggling to get a cab till evening" - Suhana
"That's fine, but we got to go fast, we have to finish the movie" -Ayaan
"Ohh yeah, we slept while watching it" - Suhana
"Yeah, hop in" -Ayaan
"Ohh no, I forgot to get my file from the office. Stay here, I'll come in 2 minutes" - Suhana
"No problem" -Ayaan
While I was waiting, I saw a small toddler crying, standing alone. I couldn't resist myself and went to her.
"Hey, why are you crying?" -Ayaan
She got scared to talk in the first place as I was a stranger to her. With a smile on my face, I went to her and raised my hand for a handshake.
"Hello, my name is Ayaan. What's your name?" -Ayaan
She slowly felt comfortable and came to me.
"My name is Ruhi" -Ruhi
"What a nice name, why are you crying?" -Ayaan
"My mommy hasn't come yet" -Ruhi
"Ohh, she'll be here soon. You know her number?" -Ayaan
"Yes" -Ruhi
She gave her mom's number and when I was about to call, Suhana comes,
"What's going on Ayaan?" - Suhana
"This small kid is waiting for her mom, but she hasn't come yet" -Ayaan
"Ohh, wait, I'll leave her with the caretakers of the school, you bring your car near your gate" - Suhana
"Ok fine, bye Ruhi, take care" -Ayaan
"Bye Ayaan" -Ruhi
It was cute to hear my name from a small kid.
Later, Kabir joined us for the movie and we all went out for dinner as it was my last day with them.
"So, what plans after going back to Canada?" -Kabir
"I don't know. I think I'll find a job there. I just don't feel like working around here anymore. I want to go back to India. I know the place is nice, the lifestyle and all, but I miss celebrating festivals at India" -Ayaan
"Yeah, that's right. You can see only Christmas celebrations mostly in boom here" -Kabir
"Yeah" -Ayaan
"Now, since your friend also got married, when are you planning to do the same?" -Suhana
"I don't know, but I should do it soon" -Ayaan
"Yeah" -Suhana
"Anyways, let's get going, I should wake up early" -Ayaan
"Why?" -Kabir
"Flight is at 7 in the morning" -Ayaan
"Ohh, then let's go" -Suhana
After we were done with the dinner, we came back to the hotel and the next morning, I was prepared to leave.
"Ayaan, I'll drop you till the airport" -Kabir
"No that's fine, I'll take a cab" -Ayaan
"Dude, come, don't act like that" -Kabir
"You should drop Suhana at school and go to the office. That's ok, I'll go on my own" -Ayaan
"You sure?" -Kabir
"Yes, just get me a cab" -Ayaan
"Ok" -Kabir
After the cab arrived,
"Ok man, see you soon" -Ayaan
"See you soon Ayaan, stay in touch" -Suhana
"Yes I will" -Ayaan
"Call me once you land" -Kabir
"Yeah sure, bye, take care" -Ayaan
"Bye" -Kabir
