Jennie opens her eyes, her arms crossed on her chest tightly, the blanket wrapped safely around her small frame. "Gosh." she breathed out. She grabs her glasses which is sitting on top of her bedside table and wears them before sitting up. Jennie scrunches her face as she remembers her dream. "There's no way in hell." She mumbled.
Scoffing, she continued talking to herself, "My God. That doesn't make any sense at all." She sighed and grabbed her own small table that is beside her bed and her precious notepad. She stares at it before finally writing the details of her weird dream.
FEBRUARY 10th, 2016
On the road...
As she was writing, her mother, Soyeon, walks inside her own room, carrying her newly-washed clothes on her arms. The woman walks in front of her window and spreads the curtain apart, letting the bright sunlight enter her premises.
"What is it? Did you have another dream?" Her mother asked.
A tall, black haired woman I've never seen before...
"What's that smell?" Soyeon asked as she sniffed around, "Jennie Kim! Stop lighting scented candles! You should just let your own room breathe instead, who would think that a person lives here? It's like a damn pigsty." The woman scolded Jennie.
I was crying... and I hugged her.
"This can't be!" She loudly exclaimed as she wrote the last sentence. Soyeon whom is fixing the cluttered things on the side, flicked her finger on her daughter's head making the latter whine. "What are you talking about? Take a look around you, it's a damn war zone!" She exclaimed, not knowing that her daughter was preferring to the dream she had.
Jennie let out a huff and Soyeon continued on scolding, "This is why I can't eat pork, Jennie. It reminds me of you and your damn mess. I'm suffering here." The older woman knows that Jennie knows that she's only kidding when she talks this way.
Then the younger answered, "No, hear me out, Mom. I hugged a woman I've never seen in my dreams. And I hugged her first! Don't you know that I'm not the type to hit on any woman first?" She ranted making Soyeon scoff.
"Of course, how could you hit on anyone looking like that? You couldn't if you had an ounce of conscience left in you." She replied, making Jennie's ramblings stop. Her daughter looked at her and pouted, puffing her already chubby cheeks out. "Mom. Are you sure that you're really my mother?" She asked jokingly, making her receive a smack on her head, Jennie groaned in reply of the action.
"Is this what I get for raising you?" Her mother replied before making her way out of her daughter's room, making Jennie smile and think, "These really are the times where I wonder if she's really my own mother." She thought and sighed before finally going out of her room to eat some breakfast.
Grabbing a box of cereal on the cabinet and a pint of milk inside their fridge, she sat them down together with her bowl to fix it. Knowing her mom already had her morning coffee, she didn't bother asking if she had eaten. As she was pouring cereal, Soyeon spoke up.
"How did she look? Was she beautiful?"
"That doesn't matter. I have a girlfriend, you know?"
"You only went on two dates and she's already your girlfriend? Will you get engaged on your third date?"
She sighed, "I hate seeing two girls at once so don't even try to bring the girl in my dreams into my life."
"I won't have to, it will just happen, Ruby Jane. Whatever happens, whatever your dream is about, it will always happen in reality."
Jennie sighed once again, bringing her bowl as she finished preparing it, she made her way to her mother to eat beside her on the living room.
"That's not true!"
She answered before stopping on her tracks as she looked at the window. Her eyes widen as she kneels down, still staring outside.
Fuck! I spoke too soon!
Soyeon stared at her, confused of her daughter's actions before staring back at the direction Jennie was staring at. "I did hear someone was moving in. I guess it's today." The older spoke as they both stare into a moving truck and two girls standing out.
"Beautiful girls. Are they sisters?" Soyeon thought out loud, whilst Jennie stayed hidden behind their white curatins, her head peeking out on the side.
Meanwhile outside...
"Come on, take this already!" The blonde-haired girl exclaimed at her older sister, who is looking rather grumpy than happy.
"Seriously, Lisa. Who the hell gives out rice cakes when moving into a new neighborhood? It's lame." the black-haired answered, rolling her eyes. Her answer making Lisa gasp dramatically.
"It's not lame, Ji! It's called a way of being a friendly neighbor."
"Damn you and your manners." Jisoo grumbled. Lisa pulls Jisoo's wrist and pushes the plate that has the rice cake on top to her hands. "Go now!"
You owe me this one, hoe.
Going back inside...
Jennie lets out a breath and kneels down on the floor, she stared at Soyeon, "That's the woman!" She whispered, "The woman I hugged in my dream!" Making Soyeon look back at her. "What?!" The older exclaimed, their conversation being interrupted by a ringing on their doorbell.
Jisoo who was outside their door, boringly looked around before putting up a charming smile once she hears the static sound coming from the speaker of the receiver of the doorbell, indicating that someone is listening to her. She brought the rice cake up in her hands before speaking, "Hello! Good morning! We just moved into the house in front--"
Her speaking interrupted by a voice, a woman's voice specifically. "Please leave. And don't come to our house again." Jennie who was looking at the screen, seeing the girl on the other side, continued. "We will not accept greetings or free stuffs. My apologies." Before clicking the button, indicating the woman outside that their conversation is over.
Jisoo who listened to the woman's rants, stayed put at her position, her mouth repeatedly closing and opening, not knowing what to say.
"It's early in the morning and someone's a grumpy ass." She mumbled to herself before pouting and called Lisa out.
"Ya! I told you no one would take the rice cake!"
"You didn't smile, right?"
Jisoo scoffed, "Damn it." She grumbled before walking towards her younger sister.
"I smiled, I really did! I even smiled like a was a fool!"
"Really?" Lisa asked "It's hard to be that mean... Oh! Is she a girl?"
"Yeah..."
Lisa smirked and looked at Jisoo, nudging her shoulder, "You should date her, Sooya. I think you guys will hit it off." She joked.
"You little shit." Jisoo answered before kicking Lisa on the legs lightly.
She then stared back at the house, seeing two women. An old one and a young one staring at her through their windows. She scowls in annoyance as she sees the younger close the curtains, blocking the both of them from seeing each other longer. She blew some air upwards, the air coming from her mouth, making her bangs fly to the other side of her hair.
"Aish." She mumbled before turning and kicked Lisa on her butt who is picking something up from a box and gave her the rice cake their neighbors were supposed to have once she turned around.
