As Jisoo wandered around on her room's floor, she stopped in the middle as she saw a woman turned around on her back.
She smiled and pulled the pole of dextrose she has with her, walking closer to the female. Stopping just behind her, she wrapped her arms around the female's shoulder and placed her head beside the smaller's ears.
"What took you so long? I really missed you."
The smaller dropped the scarf she was holding and her hands left being empty mid-air.
Jaeyong who just got up from the escalator, was wide-eyed when he noticed the scene. "Gosh, is that how women nowadays are?" She mumbled and turned around, only to see Jennie who looks like she's already killing the woman Jisoo is hugging on her mind.
Jisoo looked up, only to find a panicking Jaeyong and a Jennie who could kill her there right in this moment.
"What? Why is she..." She trailed off and looked down to the person she was hugging.
Turned out, it was Hyangmi.
"It's Hyangmi-ssi." Jaeyong whisper-yelled as he ran towards the two women but ended up slipping right in front of them. "You're hugging Hyangmi-ssi!" He screamed to Jisoo who only realized what the situation is when the male screamed at her.
Hyangmi turned around at her with a blushing face and a sweet smile. "Prosecutor Kim. I mean... Should I call you Jisoo now?"
Jisoo gulped as she saw Jennie walking closer from the corner of her eye. "Hyangmi, no. I-I..." She trailed explaining but her co-worker hugged her once again making her look immediately at Jennie who stopped on her tracks.
She had her hands formed into a fist and her lips twitching.
The prosecutor looked at her with wide eyes. Seeing Jennie like this made her wish she had just stayed on her room. Saying she's scared is an understatement. The best way to describe Jisoo was terrified.
"I'm sorry I'm late. I didn't know you were waiting for me." Hyangmi said and it made Jisoo felt her intestines twist and turn. Jaeyong held onto the girl's shoulder and tried to get her off of the injured prosecutor. "I don't think you know what's going on. Let go of her." He whispered but the female kept her hold on the prosecutor. "You're the one who knows nothing."
"Just let her go!"
"No!"
Jisoo bit on her lip and looked at Jennie, waving her hands frantically. "J-Jen, it's all just a m-misunderstanding."
The reporter crossed her arms and raised her eyebrows, "A misunderstanding?"
"Jennie--"
"Your name's Hyangmi right? I'd like to apologize. My mom said a misunderstanding begins when two people don't understand each other well. This misunderstanding happened because her and I don't understand each other well enough yet." She said with a sarcastic smile and looked at Jisoo before looking back at the paralegal.
"We'll try our best no to let the same thing again. Thank you for your understanding. And could you get your arms off her?"
Jaeyong looked at Hyangmi before he pulled at the sleeve of her shirt, pulling her away from the prosecutor.
Jisoo looked at the two of her workmates and bowed at them. "I'm sorry." Hyangmi then laughed uneasily. "Then why did you do something you'd be sorry for?" Jaeyong coughed and tried to drag Hyangmi away only for the female to take his hands off of her and looked at Jennie in a challenging way.
"Are you Jennie Kim? As in the restaurant?" She asked and Jennie smiled before answering her question. "Yes, I am. Oh, is this scarf yours?" She questioned, and this time, she showed that she is not someone who you can mess with or challenge to something.
She slid her bag on her shoulder before she turned to the side and positioned her legs where they can see them, especially to the prosecutor who had her eyes wanting to bulge out of her eyes.
She picked up and intentionally threw her head back, making her hair go wit the flow.
As for Jisoo, it looked like everything was happening in slow motion. It was like a scene from a commercial or a movie where Jennie is the leading lady.
Has she always been this beautiful? She thought.
Jennie handed her the scarf and plastered a wide smile on her face. "Here." Hyangmi, who's rather speechless, took the scarf out of her hand harshly.
"Alright, she's the one our dear Jisoo is waiting for. We should get going now." Jaeyong announced and waved at Jennie and Jisoo goodbye, also flashing a smile of sorry in which the Jisoo answered with a bright smile. He put his hand tightly around Hyangmi's ear and dragged her out of the scene, making the female whine in pain.
"I mean, I saw her from behind and really thought it was you. Or maybe I'm still not right on my mind. I still confuse things." Jisoo said as she explained with hand motions as she and Jennie both walked at the park of the hospital. Hearing a chuckled, Jisoo turned to her side. "Stop it. You're rambling."
The prosecutor blushed and looked down, putting a hand inside her shirt's pocket. "Yes, ma'am." While she looked down, she happened to look at Jennie's hands and she was confused to not see a ring on her finger.
Did she receive it? Oh God, I'm gonna kill Lisa if she didn't give it to her.
"You got the ring, right?"
Jennie stopped on her tracks and looked at Jisoo, nodding her head. "Yes." And that answer made the taller breath out in relief. "Oh, I put the note you wrote me in the box. Did you see it?" The smaller looked at her confused. "I'm the one who wrote it?"
This is better this way. Yes, I should keep pretending that I don't know a thing or I forgot about what really happened 13 years ago.
"W-Well... You wrote the note and gave it to me 13 years ago. You don't remember?"
"Did we meet 13 years ago?"
"Your dad was killed by an army deserter, right?"
"Yeah."
"My dad was too, so we met at the funeral home. You really don't remember?"
"I don't remember anything like that."
Jisoo frowned at her answer and looked down and remembered her she-don't-know-if-it's-real-or-was-she-just-high-on-the-medicine encounter with Jennie on the ICU.
"Do you remember me?"
Jennie smiled and held her hand.
"Of course, I do. How could I forget someone like you?"
She was brought back to present time when she heard Jennie clap her hands. "I don't even remember things from a month ago, what more from 13 years ago? It's weird you remember it." She said as she started walking first, leaving Jisoo behind.
The prosecutor followed her quickly and grabbed her arm, turning her around. "But you said you remembered it when I was in the ICU." Jennie frowned at the statement. "I didn't visit you in the ICU."
"But that's impossible. I definitely saw you there."
"I think you were delirious. I heard that it's common among patients who just got right out of surgery. Maybe you were. I'm sorry for not remembering it." She showed the dark haired a tight lipped smile before turning around and walking away, leaving the prosecutor behind once again.
Jennie knows it's wrong. It's wrong to lie that you forgot something that you clearly remember.
How can she even forget that day?
It was the worst day she ever had.
