Albus had contacted him when Minerva had left without a reason. She had just paused after hearing what Hagrid had reported to them in the Headmaster's office, he was told. Then she'd left almost immediately afterwards.
But Remus hadn't been told specifically WHAT Hagrid had told them.
The young werewolf was beyond confused when he apparated to Albus's office, "What's happened?"
The old wizard looked up from the mess of scrambled papers strewn across his desk, "I've no idea, Mr Lupin. But perhaps, I should start with the most horrible news..."
Remus swallowed, a huge sense of dread weighing deep in his gut, "Yes?"
"Several hours ago, my boy, James and Lily..."
"Oh god..." the brown haired young man stumbled back as he covered his mouth with both hands, tears burning the back of his eyes, "And Harry?"
Albus seemed to shrink in on himself, but something else was niggling at the back of the werewolf's mind. There was...something about the old man that didn't feel right...
But in his miserable state, feeling the weight of the death of his friends could think nothing of it.
"Harry has gone missing. Sirius as well."
"What?" Remus spluttered, before a sudden rush of heat hit him, anger flooding his system.
"Hagrid said that when he got to Godric's Hollow, finding Lily and James's bodies, then having gone up the stairs to Harry's nursery, a blonde woman was leaning over the two. She looked at him a monstrous face, terrifying poor Hagrid."
The werewolf stormed up to the old man's desk and threw the papers of his desk, then slammed his hands down, "What have you done, Albus? Two of my best friends, dead. Another missing and their son, his godson, stolen. Why did you even think it would be such a great idea to put them there in the first place? They're all gone because of you!" Remus could feel the wolf itching to get out and rip the man to shreds.
The Hogwarts professor nodded again, his face hidden while he silently berated himself of how his plans had failed.
"And Minerva?"
Albus looked up without that grandfatherly glimmer in his blue eyes, "After Hagrid had left, very much shaken, I had noticed Minerva acting strange. I asked her what was wrong, but without a word, she was gone."
Remus rubbed his temples, his body twitching with unadulterated rage, "I'm going to leave now, Albus. Before I tear your throat out."

His rage had simmered down to quiet anger before it was completely squashed by the absolute anguish Remus faced as he stood outside the smoking remains of Godric Hollow.
The werewolf didn't even notice the tears tracking down his cheeks until the dropped off his chin, "Oh Merlin..."
Remus hesitated before he started off towards the blown in front door.
He couldn't thank the gods more, that the Aurors had already been and gone. But he couldn't not see everything...
Somehow, the man had reached Harry's nursery. It was practically destroyed, obliterated. The shadows of the nightmare that happened no more than forty eight hours ago stained the blacked walls. The werewolf's lips trembled and he backed into a corner, sliding down into a foetal position, burying his face into his knees.
He didn't know how long he was there, until the glint of something shining in the moonlight his puffy, tear stricken eyes. Leaning over, Remus managed to snag the small object. It probably took his a second to realise that it was the small hand mirror that Sirius had always carried with him in school.
The werewolf had always wondered why he kept the mirror in his pocket and would freak out when he couldn't find it.
Slowly...he opened it.

Harry was asleep. Sirius was asleep. Minerva was asleep. Elijah had gone out to terrorise a group of teenagers. And that left Alyssandra at home washing some fucking dishes.
The sound of her magic mirror rippling in the hallway made her frown. Had Sirius accidentally dropped his mirror when she came and got him? Who the hell had it now?
Warily, Alyss stalked down towards it, a growl bubbling in her throat. She put her hand in the mirror and a handsome young man with several scars on his face appeared, "Who are you and why the fuck do you have my son's mirror!?"
Startled by her vicious snarl, the brown haired man blinked once before a scowl of his own appeared, "Are you the one who kidnapped my best friend and his godson?! Where are you?! Where are they?"
Narrowing her eyes, Alyss ran her tongue over her teeth. She pursed her lips, "Friends?"
"Yes! Now, where-"
"Is your name Remus?" Her voice was suddenly so much softer, that it surprised the werewolf, "I'm Alyss."
A look of recognition came over his face, "Oh, you're Ms Talisman, Sirius's mother? He would spend hours telling us all about you."
A gentle smile fell on her lips, "I'm sure plenty of it is very much exaggerated."
Despite the pain Remus could feel, the warmth Alyss was projecting, even through the mirror, was soothing and needed beyond belief.
"Siri and Harry are here with me," the blonde tipped her head to the side, "Do you want to come here too?"
The werewolf mulled it over, chewing in his tongue. Remus looked away from the mirror with a sigh then turned his eyes back to Alyss's soft blue eyes, "Okay."
