Leaving Nik in the kitchen, Alyss walked back into the living where she found Remus frowning at Sirius who wasn't backing down from whatever the hell he had just said.

"Siri?"

Her son spun around and an unsure expression then rested on his face before he murmured quietly, looking almost like a child who was ready to be scolded, "Are you going to stop me?"

The blonde cocked her head only slightly, her brother's words from moments ago swirling around her mind. Her blue eyes looked deep into his as she took several steps closer to put her hands on his cheeks.

It gutted the Talisman to know that her boy wasn't used to such motherly gestures. That he always tensed slightly right before she touched him.

If Walburga wasn't already dead...

Alyss leant her forehead against Sirius's, knowing that she really couldn't stop him, "No, baby. I know you need to do this."

The young wizard threw his arms around her and squeezed her tight before he kissed her cheek. He shuffled back only half a step, their eyes locking and he whispered, "Thanks Ma."

And he walked off to the kitchen where his uncle awaited him.

The hybrid looked to her son's best friend, holding the sleeping child, "How do you feel about this, Remus?"

The werewolf startled, mildly shocked to find out that Alyss actually wanted his opinion. He turned his gaze from Harry to the blonde, conflicted, "I... Peter deserves punishment, yes."

"But death?"

Remus sighed. If he could run his hand through his hair he would, "Swift, yes. But something tells me that your brother is going to want to drag it out."

Alyss nodded, solemnly, agreeing wholeheartedly with the wolf. But hopefully with Sirius there, maybe it won't be.

Maybe.

"So he can turn into a rat?"

Sirius had apparated the two back to the scene of the crime and Klaus had managed to stop dry heaving in the alley, he and his uncle had mozied on down to where he could last remember seeing the rat faced traitor.

"Yeah. Me, James and... we all became Animagus to keep Remus company when he turned on the full moons."

The hybrid looked at his nephew, certain respect flickering in his eyes, "I don't know how to praise that..."

The Black smiled sadly at the road they were walking down and shrugged, "Don't mention it."

"If he can turn into a rat, then perhaps..." Klaus took a whiff of the air, making a face at the acrid, filthiness of the small town, "Be grateful you don't have a keener sense of smell."

Sirius grinned up at him this time, "Got that, Huh? But if what you and Ma have been talking about is a thing, me being an untriggered werewolf, that'll change, won't it?"

The Mikaelson stopped in his path and watched his nephew continue on. He took a few seconds to realise that his uncle wasn't next to him.

The wizard turned on his foot and put his hands in his pockets, "What?"

"If you think you are, would you want to trigger it?"

The young man shrugged and looked to the gravel, kicking away a small stone with his shoe, "Dunno, to be honest..."

The hybrid nodded and started walking again, "So tell me. How do you believe you can break my curse?"

"Ma told me about them-"

"Them?" Klaus interrupted, his eyes darting to his nephew's face for what seemed the millionth time since they'd met.

Sirius nodded back, "You got two hanging over your head, Uncle Nik."

The Mikaelson clenched his jaw as a heated shard of rage trickled down his spine, a low growl bubbling at the back of his throat. He very much struggled to not snarl at Sirius, "And?"

"There's the one that's got you stuck as a vamp and not like Ma and the other is a play off on the first," the young wizard informed carefully. He knew this was the first time Klaus was hearing that his own mother had screwed him over once again.

The blond ran his tongue over his teeth, silently thanking Sirius for his caution.

"Esther's way of breaking your curse was to sacrifice a vamp, a wolf and completely drain your doppelgänger, right?"

Klaus nodded.

"The second curse stops you from making more hybrids because you need the blood of the doppelgänger to complete the werewolf's transition."

There was no way to take out his anger on his mother again, she's dead, so the next best thing?

"Let's go find Peter."

"Sirius knows how to break the curses? i mean I shouldn't be surprised, Blacks are known for their delight in them."

Alyss chuckled, handing the wolf a cup of hot chocolate, "Sirius will just need the moonstone and his magic will pick apart both curses, leaving a plain boring rock and Amy brother as who he was meant to be in the very beginning."

"It'll be painful, won't it?" Remus took a sip of his drink, delighted at the rich flavour of the cocoa. Sirius must have told her he loved chocolate.

"Oh yes," the blonde's face creased into a worried frown, "Something that has been kept from him for over a thousand years is about to be snapped back into place, it's definitely going to hurt."

The wolf nodded slowly, many different thoughts going through his head.

But there was one, in particular, that was circling round and round.

Would he be able to stomach becoming a hybrid?
