6- The Tapes

"Adalyn!" Her mom called from her downstairs

Adalyn woke up suddenly and was drowsy, she had only gotten 3 hours of sleep that night and was contemplating wether or not to ditch school, she figured she would just sleep through her classes as she didn't care much for her 1st or 2nd period, she looked at her clock beside her and it said '7:23' Adalyn widened her eyes and said
"Oh fuck, I overslept." In a exhausted but surprised tone, she got up quickly quickly and ran over to her wardrobe and put on whatever she could find, she grabbed her wallet and car keys, she grabbed the cassette tapes and the tape recorder and put it in her back pack, she put her backpack on and ran out of the house.

As she was running out, Adalyns mom tried calling for her as she made food, Adalyn ignored her and her mom sighed sadly.

Adalyn drove to school and parked in the student parking lot, she took her keys out of the car and opened the door, she stepped out and looked up and saw Olivia, she hesitated for a second but decided to call her.

"Hey"
Olivia turned around confused and said
"Oh, hey."
Adalyn approached her and anxiously said
"Can I talk to you about something?"

"Sure, what is it?"
Adalyn took a deep breath and started to explain

"So yesterday I was searching through my attic and I found a shoebox, inside of it was a series of 7 cassette tapes. I played only one of them and I haven't heard the rest, but I think the tapes are connected with the murders somehow."

"What? How so?" Olivia said curiously confused
"The girl who was on the tape was a 17 year old who used to go here and was class of '89, the first tape said that she thinks she was being stalked by someone and said that she found an envelope that was thrown at her that read 'Love the hair.'"

Olivia looked at her with a curious but suspicious expression and asked
"Do you have the tapes with you?"
Adalyn sighed and put her backpack down and rummaged through it and pulled out the shoebox, Olivia took it and opened the box and was examining it, but something caught her attention, there were initials on the box that were 'A.M' she chuckled nervously and gave the box back to Adalyn

"So are we gonna listen to the tapes?" Olivia asked curiously
"Yeah, later of course, not here. Let's go to your place after school."

Ioa was at Sura's house watching the baby and Kaja went out to the store, Ioa was watching tv and the baby was asleep, she heard a knock at the door and she got up instinctively. She hasn't been expecting anyone since Evie and Sura were at work and Kaja was out, she got up from the couch and approached the door slowly and looked through the peephole, but no one was there. She sighed with relief and opened the door slowly, she looked down and saw a small box on the ground, she looked at it suspiciously and slowly bent down to examine it, she picked it up after it seemed like an ordinary box, she went inside and shut the door behind her and slowly opened the box, she looked inside of it, and a eye looked back, she gasped loudly and dropped the box. The eyeball rolled out of the box and landed at her feet, she looked down, breathing heavily.

It was after school and nothing much had happened that day, it was actually quite boring. Adalyn waited by the school entrance for Olivia and she saw her approach her.

"Hey!" Olivia said enthusiastically, Adalyn smiled at her and replied
"Hey"
"So you can drive us to my place right?" Olivia said curiously
"Of course." Adalyn said assuringly, Olivia smiled and they both made their way to the car.

They had arrived at Olivias house and they both walked in, Adalyn greeted her parents and went to Olivias room and Olivia followed after her. Adalyn set her bag down on Olivias bed and took out the tapes and the tape recorder, she walked over to the power outlet and plugged the tape recorder in, while she was doing so Olivia asked her
"How many tapes did you listen to so far?"
"Just one, we're gonna listen to the rest together."
Olivia nodded and sat next to Adalyn, she had finished plugging it in and took out tape #2, they looked at eachother and nodded their heads. And Adalyn presses play on tape #2
