The next three weeks flew by and dragged on all at once. Chris had been on a war path. Whatever business dealings he had were leading up to a group coming to the ranch. They wouldn't invest until seeing the property and how it was run. The first week and half had the ranch hands replacing the rest of the fence all the way around the property.

She and Emmy had done everything they could to be around Chance. Every time Emmy asked to take the boys lemonade Erin obliged. She shouldn't but all she wanted was to be around Chance. They hadn't had any time alone but she had even volunteered to help replace the fencing. They had worked together on a portion farther down from the guys, laughing and joking all day.

The following week and a half had been spent caring for the animals and mowing the grass. Chance had taken Emmy on the tractor to help him mow grass. When they came back they were both covered in grass and Emmy was so excited. Chance made them both happier than they had ever been.

She hadn't forgotten just how wrong all of it was. Erin knew she had crossed a line she could never uncross. She had fallen for Chance in two months time. He was kind, funny, and free. He was smart and damn was he handsome. She couldn't bring herself to end things and she justified it by the fact in a little less than a month he would be gone.

They stole kisses here and there when backs were turned or when someone left a room. They had only had sex once since their day together. It was about a week ago when Chris had gone into the city. It was a Sunday and he came inside to tell her he was going to the bank. Emmy had begged to go so she could get a sucker and Chris had agreed.

As soon as they were out of the driveway Erin called out to Katie letting her know she was going to the barn to brush her horse Honey. Instead she climbed the ladder to the loft. It was only 9:30am and Chance was still in bed. She tried not to wake him as she climbed into the bed and under the covers with him.

Erin kissed his lips gently just brushing hers on his. She moved down kissing his neck and chest. He shifted but his eyes never opened. She made her way down his body and reached into his underwear pulling out his cock. She slid her hands up and down it and then took it into her mouth as he hardened.

His hand slid into her hair holding her head as it bobbed up and down on him. She could hear his quiet groans but suddenly he pulled her up to him. Kissing her deeply. "How long do we have?" He asked moving to her neck.

"Maybe an hour." Erin answered titling her neck to the side giving him more room.

"Hell all I need is five minutes," He joked pushing her on to her back and pulling her bottoms off in one swift motion.

"Only five minutes?!" Erin asked in shock.

"I figured saying five seconds would really make me look bad." Chance laughed and Erin did too.

That was the last time they had been together. They spent 45 minutes in bed before she made her way back to the house. Every second had been amazing.

Now Erin was putting on a light coat of makeup and getting ready for the investors to arrive. Chris, Erin, and Emmy were supposed to be giving them a tour of the property and Joe and the ranch hands would be doing their daily chores and letting the horses out to stretch their legs.

Erin slipped on the sleeveless boho style dress and her cowboy boots. Her hair hung in its usual waves around her shoulders. She let Emmy's blonde curls hang loosely and put her in a striped jumper with her own cowgirl boots.

"Mommy can we go see Chance?" Emmy asked looking up at Erin.

"Maybe later baby. Daddy's friends are coming so we have to ride around the ranch with them. I think Chance will be around for the big barbeque tonight though."

"Yay!!"

Erin couldn't help but feel her excitement but for some reason sadness was overwhelming her. She tried to smile back but she knew it didn't reach her eyes. Chance would be gone soon and all the things she was feeling would be gone. Life would go back to the same way it had been for years now. Before it was normal so she didn't even realize anything was missing.

"You look sad mommy."

"Oh no baby I'm okay." She responded giving Emmy the best smile she could.

The investors consisted of five men and one woman all in business suits. Chris had put on his own suit but wore it with cowboy boots. His gray hair was smoothed down and he looked nice. He as well as the investors all looked out of place. They spent two hours touring the property on golf carts. She and Emmy road in the back of an extended cart carrying four of the investors. Chris and the other two road on a second cart next to them while Chris talked them all through the tour.

Emmy had fallen asleep and Erin took the time to tune them all out as she looked over the valleys. She felt empty at the thought of life a month from now.
