I stared absurdly at the huge book I snatched from Elmonde.
Right there it had everything about me.

My name,my age,my country, my job, some of my pictures, when last I renewed my licences,my birthday and right underneath everything came the name of the so called war that I had fought in with a description.

I was about to feed my eyes with the information before a particular hoarse voice at he door almost made Elmonde and I jump.

"One day Elmonde,I leave you incharge for just one day and this is the mess I come back to see?" A man said.

To my surprise, what he was wearing was not white. Rather a turquoise blue shirt and black pants.

Elmonde sat on the table. "Hey! No fair! You were supposed to be gone till six!" She exclaimed.

The man at the doorway frowned. "That was until I had a feeling something would be on fire if I didn't return."

The man's gaze swept towards me. "Who are you?" He asked and without letting me answer he walked over to Elmonde. "Who is she?"
He quickly caught sight of the huge book that was currently facing me.

"I'm.. Hanna. Hi." I said.

The man shut the book and carried it with such ease back to a shelf.
He turned back to Elmonde. "What have you done to this place ?"

Elmonde shrugged. "It's not that bad,Harold."

The man whose name I now knew as Harold turned to me. "Sorry for that... hello, I'm Harold,Elmonde 's father. You're not supposed to..."

"Step father who tortures me on a daily bases!" Elmonde cut in.

Harold turned around very slowly, trying his best to bottle up the fact that he wanted to snap at her. "I love you too, sweetie. "

Harold went back to me. "You're not supposed to be looking at employee records."

I frowned. "I'm an employee?" I asked.
I listened to myself for sometime. "My name was in there so I'm an employee? I don't remember getting interviewed or submitting my application forms?" I added.

"Duh,that's because you were part of the forget waaaaaar...."Elmonde slurred a bit at the last part from the way Harold looked at her. As if she had said too much.

"The forget whatever I said some minutes ago and some seconds before now because I'm stupid and I like cupcakes." Elmonde added as she ran out of the office and said a small. 'Totally nailed that lie!' Before leaving.

Harold pushed past some of the things Elmonde had scattered on the ground and sat opposite me. "I believe you are the newest employee then?"
"I find it hard to believe." I said.

"Well,you should."

"How did I get here?" I asked.

"It's really not an impotant something you should know." He lied.

"What are the forget wars?" I ever so desperately asked.

A look made its way to Harold 's face. "You begin work tomorrow." He said, quickly wiping my question away from existence.
"I just asked you something." I said.

Harold said. "I have things to attend to right now,why don't you spend the rest of the day off with Elmonde?" He said.

I reluctantly stood up and went back to the lobby.
"What a drip,am I right?" Elmonde asked.

I pulled the sleeve of my jumpsuit a little forward to cover my palm. "You could say that."

Elmonde put her reddish-orange hair in a very rough ponytail that got some of her hair sticking out the sides.

"Come on,let's go do something that's not boring."
