6 years Later

"Welcome to the real world Akaashi!" Bokuto yelled as soon he saw his closest friend enter the restaurant reserved for this occasion.

Kuroo let out an ugly laugh on the across the table while Kenma was as usual, indulged on his phone playing.

"Was I in the a fake world before Bokuto-san?" he monotonously asked when he was able to sat down next to him, a bit annoyed by his former captain's remarks. Why do people say that when you finally graduate? he thought to himself.

Bokuto just chuckled and placed his arm around Akaashi's shoulder, gripping him tight showing how he missed the guy. They haven't had a small gathering in a a long time as he was busy with his career in pro league playing for MSBY Black Jackals while Akaashi was also occupied by his College.

"Well, now that you're officially out of school you don't have any more reasons to slack off nyahahaha!!" Kuroo joked.

"That's rude Kuroo, Akaashi don't slack off unlike you." Kenma huffed looking the bedhead for awhile before returning his gaze to his phone.

"Ha ha ha! That's true, that's why I keep telling him to relax a little. He doesn't listen though, he's really determined to impress [Y/N]-chan." Bokuto said. "Oh, speaking of [Y/N]-chan, is she going to be here? Or is she still in abroad now?" he asked.

"She'll be here, she arrived earlier from New York." Akaashi answered.

"Of course she'll come, it's your celebration after all. She can miss our games and birthdays but not yours." Kuroo said with a hint of jealousy and sadness on his tone.

"What do you expect Kuroo? She doesn't like you." Kenma retorted making Bokuto growl in laughter.

"Tsssk, I don't like her either. Her attitude just don't go well with how gorgeous her appearance is." he said making him earn a glare from Akaashi. "Don't give me that look Akaashi." he said.

"So, are you two finally dating now? Not that I care so much, I'm just curious." Kenma asked the celebrator to cut down the nonsense topic putting down his phone but Akaashi stayed silent.

"What? C'mon Akaashi it's been what? Almost 6 years already and you're still waiting, it doesn't seem to end." Bokuto whined as he shook his poor friend.

"We'll get there Bokuto-san, please let go of me already my shirt will be crumpled." he complained.

It's true, it has been almost 6 years since he had confessed to you. Ever since that day, he had done his best to be the better version of himself whether it be volleyball or academics. He got even more motivated when you moved to Fukurodani weeks after the Interhigh Nationals. He was ecstatic.

He knew something happened between you and the volleyball team as you seem to avoid the topic when it comes to them but he could only care less. All he could ever think of was he finally got a chance to treat you right. He would walk you home and sometimes fetch you at your house when he doesn't have early practices. You'd do study dates too and sometimes Bokuto would join only to disturb the both of you.

For your remaining months in high school at Fukurodani, Akaashi never left your side. Others really thought that the two of you were already dating. But will be shocked every time they got a "no" as an answer every time someone asks what's the score between you two. We like each other but chose not to date yet. Not now, but maybe in the future.

When you graduated together with Bokuto, things went back to how it was it the first place. You went to a university in Tokyo, fortunately near home but the heavy loads of being a dual courser occupied your time a lot. Akaashi became the captain and the same year too. Phone calls, texts, video chats and rushed dates were the only strings that tied you together but somehow you managed to survive that.
