Chapter Seven: Kickstart My Heart

A girl in ripped jeans and a Raspberry colored T-shirt stood on the balcony of a house, peering through a pair of binoculars. She switched on her radio and with a short burst of static began to speak...

"It seems like we've got a conflict, I've never seen the first kid but the other one is definitely Nightlight. He has just entered the house now. Over"

A male voice spoke from the other side of the radio...

"Are you sure it's him, what makes you so certain. Over"

The female spoke again, "He is out of costume, but this is definitely our guy. He was just using his ability and it matches all of our descriptions. I'm heading in now. Over"

She jumped off of the balcony and began to run over to the house for sale.

The world felt dark and cold to Hiro, who was on his last breath. A bright light appeared in front of him. The potential that he had lost was the only thought going through Nightlight's head.

The hand of an angel reached out to him, and a great amount of pressure hit his stomach. As if someone was pushing down on it.

Hiro's mind returned to him, and he looked up. To see someone reaching out their hand to help him up. He stretched out his hand, and slowly stood up. After coming to his feet he looked at the person who had just saved his life.

"What just happened?" He asked, struggling to grasp his current situation. He was knocking on heaven's door just seconds ago with a huge hole in his stomach.

"Nice to meet you, you can call me Chiaki. It's my code name. What just happened was I saved your life. You were going to die but my ability; Overwatch, healed you completely" She said through a loud yawn and despite wearing a dust mask she covered her mouth with the tip of her fingers.

"Umm thanks, but..." Hiro stutered "...why did you do that?"

"Oh yeah. Well you might not know it, but you have sorta caused a stir, everyone is wanting to find out who you are because Cain has a bounty on your head and well... Oh my god... you're Hiro right?" She stammered

"Well maybe, but if there is a bounty on my head why didn't you just claim it, you're not clearing up much here. Cut the shit, what do you want from me?" Hiro said becoming agitated

"That's the thing, our organization, I guess you could call it that. We know the truth that Cain is leaving out when telling people about their powers. You need allies, and we know that you're the key to saving this world. We have basically been hunting you since the church incident. But the bounty thing is new. Your going to be facing some serious opposition from here on out"

"That is a lot to take in!" he shouted... "And the way you reacted, you know me don't you?"

"You should come to our HQ before the end of the night. We have a lot to discuss, but make sure to wear your Nightlight outfit ok, here's the address. I'm heading back there now, see you soon" She said, handing him a business card and completely disregarding Hiro's question before slowly walking away.

Just as quick as she came, she was gone. 'I guess I owe it to them, she did literally save my life. Isn't that crazy! If she wasn't here tracking me down, I would be dead. Hows that for luck Faust!'

He walked home, replaying what had just happened in his head. After he got home he checked his phone and messages. Still no reply. It was 1:00am exactly and still no word from those two.

After putting on his outfit he walked down to the address written on the card. The building was just a simple motel. The unit number 3 was the one written on the card. He walked up to the door and knocked twice.

A tall Japanese girl wearing a galaxy skirt and shirt stood at the door staring directly into Hiro's eyes with a disapproving glare. Before grabbing him by the arm, pulling him into the motel and slamming the door. Before he could even say anything or look around the room, the girl began shouting "He's here!"

Hiro turned around to see the other people in the room, of which there were 3. One male sat on a desktop computer with several monitors, typing away at the computer so furiously that he barely noticed Hiro's arrival. A large boy with huge shoulders sat in the corner of the motel with his head down flicking a lighter, on and off and then there was Chiaki, fast asleep on the motel bed snoring loudly still in her outfit.

The girl began speaking in a cheery tone completely unlike her greeting at the door...

"Welcome Nightlight, we are Dedsec and we know you are going to save us all. You started this and fate has chosen you. Oh and i'm Haru! Nice to meet you. I'll introduce you to everyone here."

The girl continued while pointing at the guy in the corner slouched over the computer. "That's Max, he gathers intel from all our inside people, he doesn't even have any ability. He is just Max." He had dark red hair and wore a 'Honk if you're gaming' T-shirt.'

"Hey asshole! Are you listening to me?" Haru shouted. This took Hiro completely by surprise. Snapping his full attention back to her, "Ummm, yea" he nervously responded

She continued in her normal happy tone straight after. "That guy in the corner's codename is Joker, It's ironic because he refuses to wear a mask" she groaned.

Joker looked up toward Hiro, shock went through Hiro's body as he saw his face... It was Axel. Someone who had brought so much pain to his life.

'I think I know why Chiaki was so worried when she realised who I was, she must know Axel and I don't get along very well. Then... she does know me.' he thought

Axel scanned Hiro from top to bottom before going back to his lighter.

"His ability is ARMS, a punch from his left arm will create an energy that is stored in whatever he hits, impact from his right arm will release that pressure almost like an explosion. It's pretty cool to see it in action." Haru proclaimed.

Axel wore a maroon tank top with a hood, 'Why does HE have to be here?" Hiro thought to himself. Either way as long as he didn't recognise him there shouldn't be any problems.

Chiaki slowly opened her eyes and sat up on the motel bed.

"Oh, i'm so glad you came!" She yawned out.

"Well you did save my life. It is the absolute least I can do for you, but I am still very unsure of one thing..." Hiro replied.

"And that is?" Axel finally chimed in, his voice just as condescending as when the two would fight at school.

With a quick glare at Joker, Hiro began explaining "What do you guys see in me that makes me the one that's gonna save everyone on this earth? I might be the guy that started this all, but I almost died not long ago. If it wasn't for Chiaki I would have been dead meat."

Chiaki seemed a lot more awake now. Coming to her feet and walking closer to Hiro and Haru who were still standing in front of the closed door. She started talking in a voice that contained so much genuine belief that it was almost infectious "Doesn't that just prove us right though! With my lack of strength and non offensive power I should never go out scouting at night, but tonight was that one exception! Someone up there has your back and you will be the one to defeat Cain. So please, let us help you find this stone, and save our world"

She was so elegant.

Hiro thought for a second. 'What she's saying could be true and if Cain was really going to start sending more people to get rid of me... I'm going to need all the allies I can get.'

"I'm in." Hiro proclaimed.

You could hear Chiaki giggle and clenched her fists, shaking with excitement.

And after some light chit chat Hiro left the motel and headed home.

Hiro groaned as he opened up his front door for the final time that night, making sure to lock it before heading upstairs and checking his phone one more time. No new messages.
