Chapter 23: Liar

Half of us were gathered at the place we were teleported to, while the other half took care of the souls that still needed to be protected. "What happened?" Namjoon and Jungkook come in together.

"I don't know, this came from my portal." I held the feather close to my chest.

"Taehyung no..." Jimin says

"We have to stop this, where is he, has anyone seen Seungmin?" Han asks.

"GUYS! GUYS LOOK OUT!" Seungmin screams and a giant demon came rushing at us.

"What the hell!" Jungkook jumps up out of the way. The beast gets his horn stuck in the tree.

"CHAN ILLUSION BUBBLE!" Namjoon shouts. Chan puts up a shield around the area. 

"Humans may not be able to see us and the demon, but they can see the environmental damage." Jungkook grabbed me and Seungmin out of the way from another charge after it released it's self from the tree.

"Seungmin what happened?" I asked as Jungkook set us down.

"I don't know! I saw Taehyung and Lord Death, and then they were gone! No time to explain. We have to take this thing down!" Seungmin crushes the ground and uses the rocks against the beast.

"Jungkook!"

"Yeah?!"

"I got you!" I shouted to him as I launched him into the beast. He sliced it down, but that didn't stop the beast. Namjoon grabbed Jungkook out of the way from being clawed by the demon.

Jimin rose up and used his voice... but it didn't work. The monster launched himself at Jimin, bringing him to the ground. Jimin used his water to temporarily mess it's vision so he can run away.

"Jimin?!" He races to me with a giant gash in his wing. 

"It's fine I'll heal. I think the damn thing is deaf. It's like it was made to counter me." he explained.  The demon never did notice the people behind them until they attacked it.

"Guys the demon is deaf!" I yelled.

"Good to know!" Jungkook yelled back.

"You and Seungmin get out of here. You are injured and I don't want him to leave alone cause he's a witness" I instruct Jimin. He nods and takes Seungmin, who was still trembling, through another portal. Taehyung, where ever you are I hope you are okay.

I group up with Han, I.N, Namjoon, and Jungkook.

"While they are distracting Han and I.N. will go for the torso, while we will go for the nape." They nodded as we tried to stay out of its sight. It was successful as we took the final blow. I look around to see if everyone was okay.

"Everyone, finish your shifts, I'll get yoongi so he's not alone. When we reach 5 AM, everyone must go to our place for a meeting" Namjoon instructs. No one disobeyed Namjoon, who's faced was covered in crimson blood, and he was furious.

Stay safe f/n we will find Taehyung, even if it's the last thing I do. I know how much you two care for each other. Jungkook tells me mentally before he goes off. I meet up again with Felix.

"What happened? You're covered in blood?" Felix said with worry.

"I'm okay, are the souls delivered?" I asked.

"They are all fine. I checked on Amanda, she's doing okay too. Now please tell me is everyone okay?" he asked.

"Felix, Taehyung is missing. I need to ask, when your partner faded, how long did it take you before you started to forget his name?" I asked

"30 minutes," he said

"It's been 45 minutes," I say

"So Taehyung hasn't faded," he says happily

"Yes, Seungmin said he saw death with Taehyung, then they disappeared." 

"Are you saying death has something to do with this?" Felix questioned

"I'm about to find out. I open a portal to death's base."

"You can't just walk into his office!" Felix yelled.

"Watch me." I smirk entering the portal. I walk past the front desk.

"Uh Ma'am you can't just..."

"I'm seeing Death right now."

"I'll make you an appointment."

"Nope!" I ignored the front desk lady and went straight to the door. I knocked, no answer, I invited myself in. I looked over at Death and Life really close into their faces, not like a kiss, but a death glare.

"Sorry, did I interrupted something?"

"No, f/n, in fact, we were just finished." Death backed off.

"Indeed we were" Light storms out of the room

"Sorry about her, we got into an argument. Like a married couple dare, I say" He laughed with elegance.

"You're fading more every day," I commented. Before it was only a quarter of his face, but now half of his face was missing, but that single, glowing, yellow eye remained.

"Your responsibilities are coming soon."

"I didn't come here to talk about that. Taehyung is missing, you were last seen with him." I said.

"I don't know what happened, if I did, I would have told you."

"Taehyung isn't someone who runs from a fight, neither are you."

"Are you accusing me as a liar? After everything, I've done for my Grim. I don't want them to fade as much as you would."

"If he faded we would have all forgotten about him, I know you have something to do with this, so why are you lying?" I asked.

"F/n...Taehyung is alive, I will do everything in my power to find him and return him to you," he said. Was he telling the truth?

"Grim's blood is a deep red, almost black. Why is it that the blood on HIS feather lighter? You must have seen what happened and why his blood is on his feather and not the demons. Why was his partner terrified and shaking when he witnessed what happened. What are you hiding?" I got above his level as he stayed in his chair, not moving an inch.

"These false accusations can get you in trouble. Oh f/n... I think you forget who's in charge. I could find another person suitable for the next role as death, it doesn't have to be you." His hand makes his way around my neck and he slams me to the ground and pins me to the floor. 

"You're going to find out what happens to pretty faces like you who think they can run things around in my domain. What happens why you don't believe in your own leader."

 He uses one of his many passed down abilities to prevent me from changing into my hybrid form. I tried, but I couldn't even fly away as a bird.

Trigger Warning

"Now you will obey my commands. Reply with yessir."

"Yessir." What? I didn't want to say that?

"Remember when you saved little Amanda earlier?"

"Yessir"

"Well you said you'd trade places, as punishment for intervening her death and disobeying your leader, you will experience everything that woman was going to experience."

"Yessir" I was trying to fight the tears. I am stronger than this.

"You will surrender yourself to me" he whispers in my ear.

"Yessir..."
