Chapter 20: Blood, Sweat, and Tears

"We can't sit here anymore, we'll worry about that later. LETS GO!" Jungkook ordered.

I looked up to see Yoongi and Jimin using their powers together.

"Holy shit, they work well." Felix said behind us finishing a demon.

"How many left?" Namjoon asked

"5 from what I can see. The Strays and Blinks will finish them off. The Beheaders are working with Everglow on the big guy with the boss. GO NOW!" Chris yells when the giant demon's tale hits the ground between us.

"Taehyung, you want to try the new move we've been practicing?"

"Taehyung nodded as the two flew up in a spiral. Their wings blew air to push the tail down. Taehyung got above Jungkook and used his wings to keep him in air as Jungkook flew in circles repetitively. 

"Silver bullet!" Tae yells and kicks Jungkook talons to launch his silver bladed wings into the monsters tail. The monster roars and sends Grim flying that were in front of it. 

"JIMIN, REMEMBER WHAT I TOLD YOU ABOUT YOUR POWER!" Life yells to Jimin.

"DO IT WITH ME" Jimin yells back.

The joined together and used their most angelic voices as an attack against it.  Their voices were low and strong. They went an octave higher between breaths, angelic. Their voices pinned it down, getting it stuck. Jimin took a breath while life kept going. They began to alternate so the beast would stay pinned down. Everyone used their attacks on the demon. Namjoon linked arms with the four of us and spun together. We use our talons to cut off one of the tusks. The demon roared in agony.

Death took the final blow to its head, and the demon began to slowly fade away. Everyone immediately came down to the ground out of breath.

"Hyung." Felix said and rushed to one of his members side.

There was a deep hole in his stomach.

"F-felix?"

"Woojin...it's going to be okay."

"All divisions have 8 members. I guess loosing me wouldn't be a problem" Woojin coughed up blood.

"JIN!" I yelled for jin to see if he could use his healing powers to help. 

"JINS KNOCKED OUT! HE SEEMS TO BE FINE OTHER THAN THAT" Someone shouted across the room from the other side of the beast. 

"Thanks...but healing won't save me." Woojin held his hand up, and his hand was turning black.

"Holy shit...he's fading" Chris said as the rest of the Strays gathered around him. They watched as he slowly faded from existence. The members cried on each other until he was no longer physically there. He was faded an cries of mourning filled the room.

The four of us rushed to Jin's side.

"Is he okay?" Jungkook asks

"Yeah, just hit his head hard. I made sure nothing happened to him." Hoseok clarified.

"Everyone, please head to your bases. We will assign your day jobs to smaller groups who can manage it. You must focus on resting up so you can be alert at night. Groups will now work closer together. You are dismissed." Death ordered.

"Let's get Jin out of here." Namjoon opened a portal and Jungkook helped Jin as the rest of us went through. I turned to see death looking me dead in the eyes. I couldn't tell what he was feeling. It was weird though. Upset? Happy? Satisfied? Angry? Sad? He's hard to read.

I lay in my nest, rethinking all that happened. I looked at my arm, which was bruised and scratched up. I touched it slightly as it stung. 

"Demon wounds take a bit to heal up." Namjoon said peeking into my nest.

"Namjoon! I'm surprised to see you here." I said as I welcomed him in. I scooted over to leave room for him to sit down. He laid down, holding one of the pillows against his chest.

"Are you okay Joon?" I asked

"Don't call me that." He snapped. He looked angry, but i could see the slight blush on his face

"I'm sorry" I said quietly. There was a long pause.

"No I'm sorry y/n. Being leader is stressful. I felt fear for the first time in a long time." He said.

"I can't imagine how you feel, but I think you're lying." 

Namjoons head looked towrds me.

"About what?"

"Feeling fear in a long time. What about that time Jungkook was injured, or when Jungkook almost dies against the demon at the shrine, or today when Jin woke up in pain." I explained.

Namjoon chuckled. I don't think it was for humor.

"Damn, she was right about me being an easy book to read." 

"She?" I questioned.

"No one important."

"If she wasn't important, why would you remember something like that?" I got him there.

"There was this girl I really liked. I never had the chance to be with her because I was a coward," he explained.

"What happened?" I asked. He sat up and sighed.

"I was so in love with this girl, but I was drafted into the Army during World War II. I promised I would return, but in the heat of the battle, Death took me over. We were outnumbered. It was either die or be apprehended. I didn't want to end up in those damned nazi camps. I wanted to die fighting, but death in action wasn't an option. They were taking prisoners. So before they could take me to my doom, I shot myself. I made sure to take a last look at my lover before releasing the trigger on my head." He explained.

"Namjoon..I'm so sorry. That's..I can't relate at all. I wish I knew the fear you had."

"You don't need to. I watched over her until the day she died. Then I watched over her children, then her children's child...and then..."

"And then?" I asked

"And then I found myself watching over you."
