Chapter 28

(Ferryn's P.O.V.)

"You can remove the mask, everyone in here has seen you without it. Don't need you breathing through spandex for no good reason." Fury tells Peter as we walk into the base. Peter takes off the mask and follows us in. "Over there is Maria Hill. And that is demetry. And this is Mr. Beck." Fury points out the people of our team as we walk past until we get to Beck.

"Mysterio?" Peter asks and I roll my eyes. Just like Ned to name the new superhero.

"What."

"Nothing, it's just what my friends call you."

"Well you can call me  Quinten. You handled yourself well out there, saw what you did with the tower. We could use someone like you in my world." Beck says as he and Peter shake hands. Peter looks starstruck at the complement. I helped with the tower too, but whatever.

"Thank you.... I'm sorry, your world?" Peter asks

"Beck is from Earth just not ours." I explain

"There are multiple realities, Peter. This earth is in dimension 616. I'm from earth 813." Quinten explains and Peter starts to rant about how crazy it is that there are more than one dimension. I did the same thing when he explained to me but I kept it to myself.

"Sorry.." Peter apologised when he got a look from Fury and Hill to shut up.

"Never apologize for being the smartest person in the room." Beck says and I accidently let out a scoff. Peter is smart but, not to brag, I'm smarter. Everyone stared at me and I rolled my eyes and walked over to a computer.

"Anyway..." I say and bring up the hologram of the multiverse. Beck explains to Peter about how the elementals work and what happened on his earth. His story was rehearsed and exactly the same from when he had explained it to us other than us putting in new facts here and there. I'm not sure if I trust him.

"The fire elemental will be in Prague in about 48 hours." I say finishing out our explanation of it all.

"We have one mission. Kill it. And you're coming with us." Fury tells Peter.

"Did you say Prague? Mr. Fury this all seems like huge, superhero kind of stuff. I mean, I'm just a friendly neighborhood spider man sir."

"Bitch, please. You've been to space." Fury scoffs and I let out a small laugh. That frase out of Nick Fury's mouth is the funniest thing I've heard in weeks.

"I know, but that was an accident. There's gotta be someone else you can use. Ferryn has powers, why can't she do it?"

"Yeah, why can't I do it?" I hadn't thought about that.

"Sorry, Ferryn. You still aren't trained enough to control it in the field again."

"What about Thor?"

"Still in space."

"Dr. Strange?"

"Unavailable."

"Captain Marvel."

"Don't involve her name."

"Sir, look. I really want to help, I do. But if my aunt found out I left my class trip she's gonna kill me. And if I'm seen like this in europe after the Washington monument my whole  class will figure it out. And then the whole world will figure out, and then I'm done." at least he didn't say homework this time.

"Ok, I understand." Fury says calmly and this confuses me.

"I'm sorry what?" Peter voices my thoughts.

"Why don't you get before your teachers miss you and become suspicious. Ferryn, take him home." Fury says and I glare at him.

"Uh, thank you Mr. Fury. and good luck." He says and follows me out.

"See ya kid." Beck says as we pass.

"Yeah, see ya... Bye ma'am." Peter says to Hill as we leave. We walk out to the boat in silence. I truly hate this awkwardness but I'm not sure what to do about it. "So, how are you?" He asks awkwardly.

"I'm ok, how are you?" I ask as I start the boat.

"I'm fine." He says and we go back to the awkward silence for a moment. "How long have you been working with Fury?"

"A few months. Fury and Hill offered me the job at the funeral. I lived with Pepper and Morgan for a few weeks to make sure they were alright and then moved back to the city and took the job." I explain as I drive us back to his hotel. "How is school?" I try to continue the small talk.

"It's ok, Ned and I are still the nerds of the school. Flash still makes fun of us and MJ.. Well she doesn't just make weird comments at us anymore." Peter says and I can tell something's off. After the conversation I heard between Ned and him about MJ, I know he likes her. The rest of the ride is quiet and I just pay attention to driving.

"Bye Ferryn." Peter says as he jumps off the boat in front of the hotel.

"Bye Parker." I say, not even getting up from my chair. I see his expression change. I hadn't called him Parker in a long time. We are basically starting completely over again. I was back in the professional mindset and I didn't want to get close to him again. This time it's because  I still like him and now he likes MJ and I don't want to get hurt by letting the feelings grow. . It's kind of hypocritical because I was just with Harley and I know that hurt Peter. I know Fury let Peter off the hook for now but I know that wasn't the end of this. I'm gonna end up working with Peter again and I'm gonna have to be ok. So I put my mind on something else. Well, it was still on Peter cause I'm designing his new suit but it's kind of getting my mind off things.
