- The Past -
Marinette's POVSo... I maybe wasn't completely honest with Adrien.
For instance, did I leave out the little detail that the first time we pulled off this pregnancy hack was eight years ago? Specifically when we went to this very movie and I tried to hide my Cocoa Puffs? Yes.
Or that I had seen this awful movie many times, even purchasing it, all because it was so bad? I course! But I had to let my friends figure that out for themselves.
I watched the screen anxiously as the familiar movie played. At every awkward make out scene, I could see a mortified Adrien trying not to stare at me.
I laughed at his reply and went along eating my cereal.
The moment we exited the movie, my poor future boyfriend was beat red and I had secured the bowl back around my stomach.
"Oh my gosh," Alya fangirled, "no wonder that movie is so popular! Eek! Imagine if they actually did that in real life?!"
"Make a baby?" Nino clarified.
"Been there done that." I smirked under my breath, though apparently Adrien heard and his face grew even redder.
We continued talking about it, and besides the parts where I was laughing my ass off at the cringiness, I was proud to say it was my first time making it through with a straight face.
"How did you- huh?" Adrien stuttered as we separated from Alya and Nino, making our way towards the park. By now I had once again unhooked my bag of cereal and continued popping pieces into my mouth.
"How did I stay so calm?"
He ferociously nodded, his face slowly draining back to its normal color.
"I'm from the future aren't I? We ended up buying it after the identity reveal just to make fun of it. I've seen it so many times, it's sad."
"And you didn't think to tell me that?!"
"I'm sorry, I had to see your face. Though if it makes you feel any better, I think some cocoa puff came out my nose the first time I saw it in theaters."
"Wait, Cocoa Puffs?"
"Yeah! When did you think we got the idea for the pregnancy gig? You had come to my house to study but we both fell asleep. The next morning, on the way to the movie, you bought me some cereal. When I realized I wouldn't be allowed to bring the box in, you suggested the bowl idea. In all honesty, I should've pieced your identity together there and then when you gave me that 'I have an idea' smirk."
He nodded, finally letting the pieces fall together. "That- actually makes sense."
When we made it back to my house, we turned on the tv. We continued talking even as hgtv popped on, discussing the horrible movie while my parents were downstairs in the bakery.
"This program is interrupted by an important update, new akuma in the vicinity. This time villain is dangerous and we recommend staying inside at all costs. Ladybug and Chat Noir, if you're out there... please save us."
I gasped as footage was shown, a purple and black akuma rampaging through the city.
"I-is that..." despite everything I'd heard about the villain who got us all into this mess, I still hadn't seen him myself. Adrien nodded.
"That's him. That's Tok."
"Let's get him."
