•The Skilled Potion Maker •╘══════════════════╛
═══════Living in the outskirts of town wasn't easy. Building a shelter made of broken planks of wood coming from the sea and running around the city's market place to ask people for left over food almost everyday at the age of four wasn't a pleasant childhood. No kid should experience such things but she guessed, that maybe, the ones who were up above decided that she's an exemption.
Seven, it was her age when she realized that no crumbs of bread and no droplets of water given by strangers that pity her will ever keep her alive.
Young is her body but her mind was mature, enough to understand that in order for the kid to keep herself full, she needed to work. With that in mind, the girl asked the local pub's owner, mr. Luigi, if she can be his somewhat chore girl. He immediately gave the position, explaining that he really needed a helping hand.
Potions, it was her saviour back then. It was the only thing, other than the small pay at the pub, that kept the girl away from hunger and the only thing that kept her entertained when you're home. It was hard to find herbs but it was easy to create them. Using her skills, she made a living out of it, selling flasks of mixtures that cure hungover and what nots. At first, pirates only bought the kid's potions out of compassion but after trying it and noticing how effective it was, they bought tons of it to stock up to use while in their voyage.
Of course, she never sticked on making hungover shots; she wasn't a barmaid, she's a pition maker, well, she claimed to be. After having enough money, the girl bought additional flasks, weird looking plants, and a cauldron. Experimenting and trying out different ingredients, she successfully created elixirs that can effectively cure; heart problems, breathing problems and blood problems.
The silver head tried selling her creations at the local market but all she ever received were glances and shrugs. Selling them was hard as no one believes that her creations can actually cure people, not until a desperate looking old man came rushing to her small form, holding her by the shoulders as he asked in a shaky breath if he can have one of the elixirs.
Apparently, his grandchild, who was the same age as the kid, was suffering from an unknown disease that made his heartbeat extremely slow and no clinic nor hospital in town was willing to take them for free. He was distressed and was begging her to give him some of her flasks. Feeling sad and worried for the old man and the kid, she gave him a bottle for free.
The man was very grateful when his grandson was healed that after two weeks, he came back, running with happy eyes towards her, shoving a ragged sack on her arms. He told the gitl that it was something that was worth more than millions and have decided to give it to her as his payment and sign of gratitude.
After multiple tries of polite refusal, in the end, it still came to an awkward 'thank you' as the girl took the bag. Going back to the jungle, where her shelter: four shaky corners and weak roof, was located. Plopping down on the floor, she decided to open the fabric. There the kid saw a round, odd-looking fruit that had a faint color of gold with swirls all over it. It was seriously weird but it somehow looked appetizing, making her mouth water and stomach grumble. With a hesitant bite, she took a piece of it and immediately gagged. As inviting as it looks, the taste was awful that she wanted to spit it out but somehow, she cant. With tears in her eyes, she begrudgingly swallowed the foul-tasting fruit as she force herself not to cry.
