The summer had practically been paradise. Or at least the last four weeks. The magic of begging is strong with one child, but as twins, there was no way Roman and Remus could fail. It was their father who'd given in first. Then with a little help from Joan, their mom broke too. And just like that, the boys had secured a four week sleepover... of eight. All of them were squeezed into the twins' room, and spending every day and night living like animals. Or just- like Remus.

The travel wasn't far for Remy, as he lived just on the other side of the village, but Logan and Patton had had to use the flu network, Dee had come by side along apparition with his kind faced, though anxious looking mom, Virgil had taken the Underground, and Emile had been allowed to take the Knight Bus (which he told the others he wouldn't recommend).

Just on the other side of the long thicket of trees behind the manor house there lay a wide open field far from muggle eyes, which made it perfect for the group to enjoy most of their days. They studied, explored the woods, chatted, and most of all, held two on two quidditch games. Their teams switched around, but often included Roman, Remy, Remus, Patton, and to everyone's surprise, Virgil.

Over the course of their stay, the Bond family had become more or less, a kind of family for the others as well. The twin's mom had a fiery sort of spirit, and roasted anyone who was asking for it without hesitation. So it was a beautiful kind of surprise to feel her kind, motherly side. Patton often helped her in the kitchen before mealtimes, which always earned him a second cookie. They shared a certain affinity for cooking, though while Patton was more accomplished in baking, Mrs. Bond was especially talented with meat; which resulted in many Remus-worthy jokes about death. Their father, on the other hand, shared with the boys the upstairs library, which had some of the most interesting books they'd ever seen. For once, Logan was not alone in his thirst for knowledge after Virgil and Dee had seen some of the Titles. But though he was bookish, he was silly and jubilant with his sons. A different person every day was levitated off the ground at the breakfast table, knowing who the perpetrator was, but not knowing where. He would then apparate right onto the table, seemingly from nowhere.

The other family members showed a kind of wildness in other ways. Aunt Patty's one year old daughter, Emmie was showing her powers at an abnormally young age, and frequently turned her own and other people's eyelashes different shades of orange. Aunt Patty herself told them so many exciting stories of her life, she could've written a whole novel filled with stories. Kind of like the one you're reading right now. But none of them held a candle to Joan. Having graduated from Hogwarts only a year before, Joan was the most liberal with their freedom to use magic outside of school. If they needed to go somewhere, they apparated. If they needed something, they summoned it. They also spent much of their time in the library, so that when times got too quiet, they spit out the most offhanded, strange, and often disturbing magical facts. Remus enjoyed this tremendously. Privately, so did Logan, but for different reasons.

The best part of having Joan around was the nightly slumber parties. As they were pursuing a career in magical cosmetology, the boys woke up every morning with make-up smeared across their faces, relics of Joan's masterpieces. Everyone had their preferences; Patton and Logan liked to keep things sweet and simple, whereas Emile, Roman and Remy always went crazy with the glitter, and Virgil an Remus always asked for excessive amounts of black eyeshadow. Dee on the other hand, put Joan through their paces by asking for the same thing every night: a full on spread around his hazel eye, so that when Joan finished, half his face resembled a snake.

The slumber parties overall were probably the best part of their summer together, but certain moments were worth specific highlights. Remus falling asleep on Dee's lap at only three in the morning, and being punished for his weakness when he woke up the next day with an extravagant mustache, magically grown there by Joan. Virgil and Roman arguing so heatedly that it escalated into a full group schism and a two sided pillow war, whereupon Emile was sacrificed by Roman's team and pushed off the bunk bed into a pile of stuffed animals. Roman claiming he had more poetic skill than the rest of them combined, followed by a "FALSEHOOD" to shake the walls, and a Rap battle that Logan won easily to everyone's shock.
