Maddi's Pov-

"wait what" Kie exclaims. I just nod my head. JJ moves closer to us. I stiffen up becoming self consious. My face was red and blotchey from crying. I don't wear makeup so that wasn't a problem but crying always made me break out. It felt so weird not being close to JJ. I've never worried about crying around him or him judging me until now.

"Where?"

"When" 

JJ and Pope both ask. I look up to JJ. That was the first thing he had said to me in 10 months. My heart fluttered at the sound of his voice. I snap back to the conversation after a second.

"Um- I don't know I just kind of left" I shrug looking to my feet.

"Did they find the-" JJ asks about the bodies. I look up taking a deep breath. His eyes finally met mine. They were filled with worry for John b.

"No" I say shaking my head. I see relief wash over him as he disconnects our eyes. 

"Okay, okay" Kie says trying to calm herself.

"I think i'm- i'm gonna head home" I say looking mostly to Topper.

"Do you want me to go with you?" He asks me. I look back to the group. Kie and Pope look almost happy. I guess they're just happy i'm not alone. I look to JJ who looks angry.

"No, I just want to be alone." I hear JJ scoff but I ignore it turning around and walking out the door.

JJ's Pov-

As soon as the bell rang we all ran downstairs and stood infront of the office. I leaned against the locker and Kept glaring as Topper. Eventually he scooted a couple feet down from us. Kie and Pope stood next to me.

"What do you think that was about?" Kie asks looking to us. She glanced over to Topper who just shrugs.

"How come you don't know, you've been screwing her" I snapped at topper. Kie shushed me but I brushed it off. Topper looked almost confused.

"I haven't bee-"  He was cut off by Maddi walking out the door. People rushed passed her but when I got a good look at her my heart dropped. Her face was white- ghost white. Her eyes were rimmed red like she was holding back tears. We all just stood there staring at her. She wrapped her arms around herself for comfort.

"Maddi" Topper says. Her attention snapped to him. She broke when seeing him. She stumbled almost unable to walk into his arms. He held her tight as she sobbed. I tensed up. That should be me. I should be holding her. Kie goes and rubs her back to calm her down. People were staring at her. I saw a group of girls whispering and laughing. I shot them a glare and they quickly stopped and walked to class. Eventually everyone was in class and Maddi had calmed down. Topper comforted her. 

"I'm Sorry" She whispered. My heart hurt looking at her broken state. I could tell she was embarresed. For the past 10 months i've done everything I could to get her off my mind, and nothing worked. 

"Hey no, it's okay" Pope speaks softly.

"What happened?" Kie asks snapping me out of my thoughts. I looked to her. She took a shakey breath before talking.

"They found the boat" She tells us her eyes filled with pain. My heart drops. They found the boat. Does that mean..

"Wait what?" Kie questions. I take a step closer and Maddi stiffens up, she looks embarresed as she looks to her feet I realize she was self concious. I want more than anything to tell her how beautiful she is but of course I can't.
