The quinjet soared through the air. Bruce was restless in his sleep, Cap was staring into space and Thor was wringing his hands. "The news is loving you guys. Nobody else is. There's been no official call for Banner's arrest, but it's in the air," Maria Hill reported. "Stark Relief Foundation?" Tony asked. "Already on the scene. How's the team?" Hill asked.
"Everyone's...we took a hit. We'll shake it off," Tony said. "Well, for now, I'd stay in stealth mode, and stay away from here," Hill advised. "So, run and hide?" Tony asked. "Until we can find Ultron, I don't have a lot else to offer," Hill said. "Neither do we," Tony said, ending the call.
"Hey, you want to switch out?" Tony asked, going over to Clint. "No, I'm good. If you want to get some kip, now is a good time 'cause we're still a few hours out," Clint said. "A few hours from where?" Tony asked. "Safehouse," Clint responded. Tony sat down on one of the plastic chairs.
"Ellie, get some sleep," Tony said, lying down. "I've had my fill of sleep for the past few days," I said, getting up so Tony could have more room. I waited until soft snores filled the air before turning my attention to Clint. "So...who were those two?" I asked. "Wanda and Pietro Maximoff. Twins. Wanda manipulates the mind, as you can tell, and Pietro runs fast," Clint said.
"You really should get some sleep," He said, and I relented. "Fine," I said. I went to near where Nat was, leaning against the middle thing and falling asleep. I woke up as we landed in front of a very familiar house. Clint helped Nat up, and we all staggered into a line, trudging towards the house.
"What is this place?" Thor asked as we trudged up the stairs. "Safehouse," Tony responded. "Let's hope," Clint said, pushing open the door. I followed in after Clint, Tony, and Thor behind me. "Honey? I'm home," Clint called, and a brunette woman came around the corner, art supplies in her hand.
"Hi. Company. Sorry, we didn't call ahead," He said, giving her a quick kiss. "This is an agent of some kind," Tony said. "Hi, mom," I said, going up and hugging her. "Gentlemen, this is Laura," Clint told the rest of the surprised team. "I know all your names," Laura said, smiling.
Tony gave an awkward wave as the rest just stared at us blankly. "Oh, incoming," Clint said when there was thudding on the stairs. "Hey, sweetheart! Hey, buddy!" Clint said, scooping Lila up and hugging Cooper. "There are...smaller agents," Tony said. "Did you bring Aunty Nat?" Lila asked.
"Why don't you hug her and find out?" Nat said, scooping Lila up as she ran towards her. "Sorry for barging in on you," Steve apologized. "Yeah, we would have called ahead but we were busy having no idea that you existed," Tony said, crossing his arms. "Yeah, well, Fury helped me set this up when I joined. He kept it off S.H.I.E.L.D.'s files, like to keep it that way. I figured it was a good place to lay low," Clint admitted. "Honey, I missed you," Laura said as Nat went over.
"How's little Natasha?" Nat asked, putting her hands on Laura's pregnant stomach. "She's...Nathaniel," Laura admitted. I heard the scraping of legos and assumed that someone had stepped on them and was moving them out of the way. Nat's face fell as she crouched in front of her stomach, both of us looking at it. "Traitor," We both muttered.
Lila wandered over to Thor, staring up at him. The toast finished toasting, catching Steve's and Thor's attention. Thor then turned and walked out the door. "Please refrain from scorching the lawn," I said on his way out. Steve followed him out, catching everyone's attention.
I heard Thor's hammer swinging around, and I stuck my head out of the door. "Alright, the lawn is safe," I said, returning to the living room. Clint and Laura went upstairs, leaving me in a room full of Avengers. Lila wandered over to me, feeling where my leg is. "It's cold now," She observed.
"Well, Tony set me up with a new one," I said, picking her up and resting her on my lip. "Your teeth are bloody," She said, pointing at my mouth. "Well, we got into a bit of a scuffle," I admitted, running my tongue along the fangs. "A little? We got our a--" I cut Tony with a glare. "Rear ends kicked," He corrected.
"By who?" Lila asked. "By some bad people. Don't worry, they won't find us here," I said, setting her down, crouching in front of her, and brushing some of the hair out of her face. "Ellie, come here!" Clint called from upstairs. "Coming!" I said, getting up and going upstairs. "Can you show everyone where they'll be staying? I trust you to make those decisions, but some of them are gonna have to double up," Clint said.
"Yeah, that's not gonna sell," I said, running a hand through my hair. "Good luck," He said, then left. I went back downstairs and into the living room. "Okay, since y'all are staying here, for the time being, you're gonna have to double up," I said, breaking the news to them. "What? What allowed you to make that call?" Tony squawked.
"I didn't. I just didn't argue with my dad, who did. Now, come on," I said, leading the line of people upstairs. "Nat and Bruce, you're in the guest room. Don't try anything, my parents are at the end of the hall and I hear all. Cap, you're in Cooper's room, and Tony's with me and Lila," I said, pointing to the various rooms. "Now, go get settled. Call anyone if you need anything," I said, going to my room. Tony followed after me as we entered the room. "There's only one bed. Where do we sleep?" Tony asked.
"You're getting a cot, and there are two beds in the room," I said. "Where?" Tony asked. I went into the corner and pulled on the string that leads to my room. A folded ladder came down, and I unfolded it to its full potential. "My bed's up there," I said, pointing to the hole.
I climbed up the ladder, Tony following me. We entered the crawlspace I called my room. It was quaint, and currently pitch black. I pulled on the cord, and my light bulb flickered to life, flooding the room in warm light. There was a bed tucked against one wall, my bassoon case under it. A small dresser sat at the end of the bed, and there was a desk on the other wall.
"This is where I sleep,"
