So the following day I was released from the hospital. We decided to stop past the Tremor household on our way back to the office to grab the rest of our equipment. Naru asked me several times to just wait in the car. He still had raging anger towards Dale. I guess I understood it. I think I'd probably feel the same if someone had done to Naru what Dale had done to me. I could feel his PK rising to the surface as we were approached by Dale. I took his hand to calm him down, but let's just say Lin did all the talking. Lin handled it pretty well though. Dale was demanding compensation for the damage to the house. Lin denied it and threatened to take the video of him attacking me to the police if he brought it up again. He didn't bother us after that. While the others were packing up the things, I wandered into the third bedroom. If nothing else, I just wanted to say goodbye.
"Irena, Kaori? Are you there?" I asked quietly. Two balls of light appeared before me. They both greeted me. Suddenly they seemed to appear as the spirits I had seen before. My brother who looked similar to me, just with slightly lighter hair; and Irena who was a beautiful young girl. I wondered if this was one of Eugene's abilities.
"I've been thinking," Irena began. "I'm ready to move on, but... I think Kaori should be back with you." I was surprised, seemingly so was Kaori.
"But how?" I asked.
"I'll give you his essence. He'll still need to give him the energy to bring him back though," She said, looking towards the door. I followed her eyes to see Naru standing there, leaning against the doorframe. He was so handsome. He pushed off the frame and walked towards me. Standing behind me, he placed his arms around me so that the backs of my hands were resting on his palms. Irena gently positioned Kaori's green coloured essence in my hands. As she did, I felt a freezing cold energy seem to travel through my hands and into Kaori's essence. This was Naru's PK that was travelling through me, so gently. As I placed the light to the side, I turned to thank Irena, but she was already gone. I was so happy. She'd found peace. Kaori decided that he wanted to spend some quality time with Rei since he hadn't been able to spend any time with her. So they went out for lunch. The rest of us headed back to the office. Though on the way there, a very strange dream came to me.I was standing in a field surrounded by white and blue flowers as far as the eye could see. It felt warm out. The sky was clear and making beautiful rays of light off the grass and the flowers. I was wearing this abnormal black pleated skirt and a white singlet. I followed a path made from the gap between the flowers. I felt so peaceful here. It's a shame I knew it was a dream. It was so pretty, the type of place I'd want to visit in person. After walking for ages, I saw a plaid blanket on the ground with a picnic basket under a large tree. I walked up to it, snooping around, trying to figure out whose it was. Suddenly I felt a strong arm wrap around me and hand rest on my waist. I smiled even before I looked up. I turned around to face him. My handsome man. I could feel his serenity coming off him. I was so happy to see him. He wore a dark blue button-up shirt that matched his eyes over dark pants.
"Hey you," I whispered, huddling against him.
"Come with me," He replied. I took his hand and obeyed. He led me through the field and up a hill where there was a beautiful view of a valley. It was gorgeous.
"It's so pretty here," I looked back at him. "Where are we?"
"Miharashi hill," He answered softly. I kept looking around at the beautiful scenery around us. but despite how beautiful it may have been, Naru just kept on looking at me.
"Why are you staring at me?" I asked him.
"Because I love you Mai Taniyama. And my only wish, for the rest of my life, is to be with you. So Mai," I watched as he knelt down on his knee and pulled out a black velvet box with an elegant diamond ring inside. "Will you marry me?"It must have been the shock from my dream, but I woke up in the back of the van with a jolt. I looked towards Naru and Lin who were up the front discussing something or rather. So obviously Naru hadn't been there, so it was just a crazy dream. I was exhausted still and a lot had gone on recently. It was normal to have strange dreams right? And surely not all of my dreams have meanings. Naru turned and looked back at me.
"Are you alright?" He asked looking concerned. I turned red.
"Yeah, I'm good. Absolutely fine. Don't worry about me." I replied. Although this was definitely not something I wanted Naru knowing about just yet. The only issue though... He can read my mind. Oh well, I'll just have to keep distracted. I thought about books I had read and videos I had watched all the way back to the office. I helped bring in all the equipment. Finally, we all sat down on the couch, except for Naru and Lin who went to the table to finish off some paperwork.
"Mai, Tea!" Naru called over, standing hunched over Lin. Thinking about Naru just started the images of the flowery field in my head all over again. No, I had to stop thinking about it. All while making the tea, I started doing my times tables to distract myself. It was really hard not going back to thinking about it. But every time I started to slip, I'd just go back to my tables. As I walked over to put his tea on the table, I began my sevens. One times seven is seven, Two times seven is fourteen... 'Thanks,' I heard Naru's voice say in my head. I smiled at him. Trying even harder to concentrate. Twenty-one. Twenty-eight. Thirty-five. Forty-two. Forty-nine. Ahhh Naru's looking at me. I could see him glancing at me from the corner of his eye. Fifty-six. Sixty-two. This time Naru straightened and turned to look at me.
"Nine times seven is Sixty-three, Idiot." That took me by surprise.
"Uh, Naru? What are you talking about?" Monk asked. The surprise wore off and I began giggling relentlessly as I realised what had happened. Naru was reading my mind without thinking about it. He thought I was just saying them aloud. And when I got it wrong, he corrected me without thinking. Everyone was looking at me as I was in fits of laughter, while nobody but me saw Naru blush a little.
"Mai, what's so funny?" Monk asked. But I couldn't breathe for long enough to explain. Naru walked up and sat on the couch beside me.
"Stop trying to talk or you'll choke," He warned me. I gripped onto his arm. My stomach hurting in laughter. 'Idiot' Naru thought at me. 'Narcissist,' I sent back. Even my mind's voice was covered in laughter. Naru smiled gently at me. Everyone just sat peacefully and chatted for the rest of the day. And Naru didn't get up anyone for it. Slowly though, everyone went home, until it was just Naru and Me. Naru asked to take me home today, so I stayed and waited for him to finish. When he did, he locked up and we walked out to his car. We got in but instead of driving me back to my place, he drove me to a little house I hadn't ever been to before.
