It was Christmas morning. The rest of Team Layton and I sat on the floor or on the couch.
"Who's opening their gift first?" I asked.
"Emmy?" Foliis questioned, staring the brunette down.
"I guess," Emmy said suspiciously. She opened her box to see yellow boots with bow ties at the top, filled with candy.
"Merry Christmas!" Foliis exclaimed happily.
"Thank you!" Emmy grinned, catching on to who her person was. "Now that I've gone, I pink the next one to go. Flora?"
Flora was taken by surprise, but loosened the ribbon around her small box. A Golden Apple was inside.
"Emmy!" Flora smiled. "Thank you!" I think she was tearing up. Only her father had ever called her Golden Apple. "Your turn Luke!"
I froze. There was no box for me.
"I'll go get it," Flora said, jumping up before dashing into her room down the hall.
Flora came back with a black and white cat.
"I'm Lola! I heard you can talk to us," the cat said.
"Hello Lola! I'm Luke!" I smiled.
"I see you like your gift," Flora smiled, sitting next to me.
"I do! Thank you!" I exclaimed.
Then Foliis stood above us with the mistletoe.
Flora closed her eyes and kissed me.
I blushed as she pulled away shyly.
"Your turn, Professor!" I said.
He opened his present to see a puzzle book. "Thank you, Luke."
"Your welcome!" I grinned.
"Claire, the Professor began taking the bow off the box.
He opened it and to say the least, he proposed.
Claire grinned and kissed him right then and there. "I thought you'd never ask!"
Flora nearly fell over from crying so hard. The Professor had adopted her, which meant she finally had a family again, after four years.
"That's wonderful!" she exclaimed.
We celebrated that for a few minutes, but then Claire spoke. "Go, Faith."
Faith opened her gift. Blue and white headphones were inside.
"Thank you!" Faith exclaimed. "Now I can play my music without waking the neighbors!"
"Welcome!" Claire smiled.
"Clive, your turn," Faith grinned.
Clive opened his gift to see a hat and tie. He pulled off his current hat and placed the new one on. "Thank you!"
"No problem," Faith said.
"Foliis, your turn," Clive announced.
Foliis opened her box to find a smaller one. And again. And again. And again.
Foliis opened the smallest box to find a paper. "Stand up? Okay."
Foliis stood. Clive did the same. He kissed her, and she actually kissed back.
"It only took a year for you two to kiss!" Emmy exclaimed.
When the kiss released, Foliis looked like a cherry. "Best. Christmas. Ever."
