Chapter 25 - TO THE HOSPITAL!!

~Friday~

-Abigail's POV-

We sat at a table in the cafeteria all silent,  it just isn't the same when everyone not here. Rob, Vikk and Jerome had to have there lunch time moved to a little later in the day.

All our phones went off at the same time, sort of clearing the heavy silence between us. We all pulled our phones out of our pockets and checked the notification.

Eye ~ GUYS! THE BEST THING JUST HAPPENED!! AUB'S IS GONNA WAKE UP SOON!!! THE NURSE SAID IT!!

We all looked at each other confused.

"We have to get to the hospital!" Lachlan yelled as he stood up out of his seat. "Come onnnnn!" He whined as he walked backwards out of the cafeteria still looking at us, waiting for us to go with him.

"Ugh." I said picking up my stuff and running after Lachlan. "TO THE HOSPITAL!!" I yelled as me and Lachlan sprinted down the halls pushing past people as we ran.

All of a sudden Lachlan just stopped, he was in my direct path so I pushed hard on the brakes and skidded to a stop a few centimetres behind him. "Wait, we can't just leave!" He said as he turned around to face me.

"We'll just go see Mary." I told him, he raised one of his eyebrows at me in confusion. "Oh come on." I huffed out in annoyance as I grabbed his wrist and pulled him down the hallway towards the office.

Once we found the office there was a lady manning the front desk. I politely asked to see Miss Smallfeild. She looked at me suspiciously but went to find Miss Smallfeild or Mary.

"Abi-daby-doo-daa!" She yelled as came running to the front desk flopping down in the office chair. "And Lachy what are you two doing here?" She asked as she looked at us confused.

"Oooooohhhhhh, you meant Miss Smallfeild." Lachlan said finally knowing who I was talking about. Miss Smallfeild is like our school mum, she takes care of all the pack. She also lets us do whatever we want in the school.

"Um, we both need to leave." I explained as I bit my lip waiting for her response.

"Sure!" She chirped as she reached for the slips to give us so if we get stopped by another teacher they can't really do anything about it. "Do you guys have a legitimate reason or do you want me to make something up?" She asked me looking up for the slips she was filling in.

"Well, we going to visit a friend in hospital who might wake up soon. Is that good enough?" She shook her head sadly and wrote something down on the slips. I tried to lean over the counter to see what she was writing but I could see far enough over the counter.

She handed me the slips and said "I just said you two weren't feeling well so Mrs Hughes is coming to pick you two up."

Oh right Mitch's parents actually live here!

I gave her a thankful smile before walking off to try and find out where Lachlan had wandered off too. I decided to just text him instead of searching the whole building.

Abi ~ Bro! Where'd you goooooo!!!

I put my phone back in my pocket and sat down in one of the chair that lined the foyer and waited for Lachlan to come back. I noticed him jogging down the hallway.

"Where'd YOU GO!" I yelled as I smacked his arm.

"First, OW!" He yelled back at me making me flinch a little at the volume. We started to walk to the schools exit as he continued to talk. "And second, it was Vikk's lunch time." He smiled.

"Ooooo." I teased as we leant on a brick wall and waited for the Uber that we called.

We instantly stopped talking as we entered the lift to go up and see the girls.

Ding

Both of us stepped out of the lift and walked down the hall. I took a deep breath as I pushed opened the door half expecting to see Aubrey sitting up in bed and talking. But instead we walked in to see a grey hospital room. Add was passed out in one of the chairs next to Aubrey's bed and Eye had her feet up on the bed with her nose stuck in her laptop.

"Guys?" Lachlan said as we walked into the room. Eye looked up from her laptop and smiled at us tiredly. We both softly smiled at her and sat down, putting our backpacks down on the chair near the door. I sat down next to Add, Lachlan sitting down next to Eye.

"Any jobs?" I whispered to Eye trying my best to to wake up Add since she probably hasn't slept in days.

"Well, I've got about..." She started to scroll of her laptop and then finished her sentence. "Four interviews tomorrow."

"What are they?" Lachlan asked her as he tried to look at her laptop, leaning as far over as he could.

"Well, Target, Walmart, Dominoes and a cafe somewhere." She explained as she sat up moving her feet off the bed and down onto the floor.

"Do you think you'll get any of them?" I asked as I sunk into the chair a little more but it make a noise. Add jolted up out of the seat actually so scared that she fully stood up. "Add it's ok, it's just us." I reassured her as I pulled on her sleeve making her sit back down in the chair.

I don't know why I did that? 😂

Yesterday was my first day back at school since.... well ya know.
