That entire lesson simply felt awkward. Stephanie may as well have walked in on the two of you doing something inappropriate. The heartbreak was all over her face.
You couldn't focus on the lesson, not even when Seán called on you to answer a question. You stared blankly at him, unable to say a word, making him frown and have to ask someone else.
He expects me in his office every day after my last class. I can't just tell him no! He's my dom!
Your strange behavior did not go unnoticed, as the professor gestured to you with a finger once the lesson had ended. "What is going on with you? You've been lost in your own little world since you arrived."
You closed your eyes and sighed. "I don't know what's wrong with me, sir. I really don't. I'm sorry."
"Apology accepted. This time." He sat back in his seat and eyed you. "How is your class with Mark going, anyways?"
"F-fine," you stuttered, your stomach dropping. Your mind immediately turned to what Mark had said, about your professor's last sub. What had happened to them?
"I'm not convinced. You're a bad liar. What has he said about me?" Seán's voice was sharp, his baby blues narrowed as he removed his glasses from his face.
Swallowing hard you shifted your weight in an impatient manner. What you wouldn't have given to be able to escape! "He... hasn't..."
"Professor McLoughlin?" Stephanie's voice cut through your poor attempts to stall, and you whipped around to find her nearby. "May I speak with you? Alone?"
He smiled. "Of course." Then he turned to you, his smile fading a little. "Do you mind?"
Yes. I do mind. Why am I suddenly so possessive over you?

All throughout Mark's class you had the sense of dread built up in your belly, so much so that you felt nauseated.
As you expected, Mark held you back after his lesson, frowning deeply. "Something is honestly troubling you. Talk to me."
You couldn't. You couldn't be honest with him and expect him to be okay with it. Your head hung a little as you avoided his eyes. "It's nothing, sir. Honestly. Just some more boy troubles."
You heard him sighing. "That isn't giving me much to work with, you know. I can't help you if you don't talk to me."
"That's... sort of the point. I can't tell you because you'll just be upset with me."
He ran a hand through his hair. "I don't understand."
"I know."
You were probably infuriating him, but you didn't care. Turning on your heel you walked out of his classroom, away from him and his prying questions.
I have enough on my mind without him telling me to avoid my own dom...
Seán's office seemed empty when you approached, which made you frown. Was he elsewhere? Surely he hadn't gone home? The blinds were drawn over the window, but the lights within were still on. Perhaps you had just barely missed him?
Regardless, you knocked on the door. But who answered it was not who you expected.
Stephanie opened the door, taking a moment to register just who it was that had knocked before she blinked wildly. "What?"
"Is... Is Professor McLoughlin in?" you asked, a creeping feeling rising from the pit of your belly. You didn't like this. Why was she there? How long had she been there?
"Yeah, he's here. But we're talking."
"The conversation is over." Seán opened the door further to reveal himself, glancing down at Steph and frowning a good deal. "Go home. We're done here."
"But sir--" she began to protest.
"I said we're done. Go home, Steph."
Tears standing in her eyes she lowered her head as she brushed by you, glancing back only once with clear heartbreak all over her face. Your heart wrenched, but your attention diverted back to the professor, who was rubbing the space between his eyes. "Sir? What... what happened?"
You were honestly afraid to know. Had she come onto him, somehow? He seemed frustrated.
Gently he reached out and pulled you inside his office, shutting and locking the door before pulling you into his arms. Your breath hitched. You had not known him to be romantic in any sort of way, so your body froze in his grip. "Don't speak," he said quietly. "I just want to hold you."
Slowly, hesitantly, you reached up and rubbed his back. He seemed to find it soothing as his muscles relaxed under your touch. You had a million questions for him but kept your tongue still; whether he was trying to be romantic or not, he had still given you an order to be quiet.
Eventually he did pull away, pressing a kiss to the space between your eyes and holding your face so he could gaze into it. The loving attention made your face turn pink. "If you truly want to know what just happened..." he began, pulling away and sitting on the edge of his desk. "I don't know how she found out, but your little friend knows that I am a dom. And she... tried to convince me that she ought to be my sub." He looked down and played with his ring a little. "I informed her that I already have one under contract, but she pleaded with me. Usually I am not so bothered by love confessions, but seeing as how this is your friend, I rather felt troubled letting her down. I assume she knows that we are together, and that will not change."
Slowly you sat down in the seat across from him, your entire body trembling from head to toe. Knowing that Stephanie tried to force her way into his lifestyle bothered you a good deal. You knew that she liked him, but how far was she willing to go to prove herself? That was what bothered you the most.
"Anyways," Seán interrupted your thought process, reaching and taking your chin into his hand. "You have nothing to fear. You belong to me, and no one else shall have me. Does this put your mind at ease?"
It did, and you nodded, but you still had to vent a little. "Yes, sir, but... I'm just afraid of what she might try to do. I..." Your hands clenched. "She seems very headstrong."
"She is. I can see that as well. But you'll find that I am not the type of man to be swayed so easily by some other lovely creature that tries to worm their way into my lifestyle." He smiled at you, the disarming sort that made you visibly relax. "Now then... like I said yesterday, you enjoy getting presents, don't you?" He got up from his seat and walked behind his desk, opening an unseen drawer and pulling out a box. It was black and sleek-looking, like the type that would hold something precious inside of it.
Gingerly you took said box, removing the ribbon before taking off the lid. Inside was a leather collar, with a metal o-ring attached to the front.
Your stomach did a few twists. "S-sir? Is this... m-meant for me to wear?"
"It is. I told you I was claiming you, and this is the first part. The second part involves me marking you."
You held the collar in your hand; the leather was solid and heavy, the o-ring polished and glistening in the fluorescent lighting. But at his mention of "marking" you, you glanced back up at him as he sat across from you again. "What do you mean by marking me?"
He grinned. "How do animals mark their territory?"
