Your heart had been pounding nonstop ever since your dom had marked territory on you. As you drove home, one hand stayed at your neck, fingering and fidgeting with the collar around it.

This is it. This is really it. I'm really a proper sub now. He's laid claim on me and everything.

It was still a little gross, and you could only hope that it would be the first and last time he would ever do it. But then again, you had no say in the matter, did you?

As the night progressed and you got ready for bed, your phone went off. It was a text message, and from Stephanie, no less. [Hey, I want to apologize. I didn't mean to go off on you the other day. I was just... shocked, I guess. Disappointed mostly. I'm sorry.]

You sighed as you looked over the message. Well, it was certainly better than being avoided, wasn't it? [It's fine, I forgive you for going off on me. If you'll forgive me, too. I swear he went after me, it wasn't the other way around.]

[Yeah, I got that. I'll see you tomorrow.]

You sighed and rubbed your face a little bit. Sure, Stephanie probably figured things out by now, but the real question was whether or not she would keep a secret when she did know for sure what your relationship with the professor was.

There was only one way to find out.

You had decided on a black top and pants the next morning, to go with the collar. At least that way the shock of it would be a little softer, if you looked a little edgier, you supposed.

Taking a deep breath you headed straight for the Unus building, finding Steph a few steps ahead of you. Putting on the kindest smile you could manage, you jogged to catch up. "Hey," you spoke once you were beside her.

As expected, her eyes were drawn to the collar. Her eyebrows went up in surprise. "Well that's new," she replied as she walked beside you. "I didn't take you to be a goth chick."

You smiled sheepishly and looked away, but deep down you felt unsure on what to tell her. The truth? It would probably only serve to hurt her more than she must already be. "Yeah, well..." you trailed off as the two of you headed into the classroom.

Seán was already inside, drinking a cup of coffee. Well, to be honest, he was scowling into it. He hardly looked up as the pair of you entered, but like Stephanie, his eyes drew right to the collar. That seemed to relax him a good deal, and he even smiled. "Top of the mornin', ladies," he chimed in.

The lesson felt normal, for the most part, despite the many glances you got on your new accessory. But there were no questions asked, so you didn't have to come up with any excuses.

Your math course, on the other hand, was another story altogether. Mark had been drinking from a bottle of water as you entered the class, but he promptly coughed and sputtered water all over once he caught a glimpse of you. His warm brown eyes were wide, but he quickly busied himself with cleaning up his spilled water, not saying anything to you.

You did expect him to stop you from leaving after his lesson, however, so you weren't surprised when he approached after class. "Please tell me you're just going through a phase. Please."

"I don't know what you mean," you murmured softly, standing up and forcing him to take a step back so you could gather your belongings.

"You know what I'm talking about. Your collar. Please... tell me it doesn't mean what I think it means."

Exasperated, you sighed loudly and eyed him. "Professor Fischbach, what do you think it means?"

Slowly he backed away from you, headed for his desk. He looked as though he were in a trance. "I told you to stay away from him."

You were fed up with the charade. "Professor, it's a little too late for that, now, isn't it? He's claimed me. I signed his contract."

Mark sat down, shaking visibly. He reached for his bottle of water but thought better of it, leaving it be. "This wasn't how things were supposed to go," you heard him murmur.

Your eyebrows knit together. He didn't seem to want to stop you from leaving, and quite frankly you didn't want to stay, so you headed for the door.

"You were supposed to be mine."

That made you freeze. "I beg your pardon?"

He got up from his desk again, headed straight for you and grabbing your shoulders. The look in his eyes made your face go pink. "You were supposed to be mine. I've wanted you from the beginning, you don't understand." Mark ran a hand through his hair. "No, he... he couldn't have..."

You wrenched yourself out of his grip, still frowning a good deal. "It's too late to be telling me things like this!"

"Don't you understand?! His last partner disappeared!"
