When my mom came back she was smiling and limping awkwardly. She looked hurt and it was almost impossible to think she was okay.

"Mom", I ran to help me walk because she looked like someone that was going to collapse any minute.
"I'm fine Alyssa", she giggled like a child. I looked around but didn't see anything funny so why was she laughing. My thoughts didn't allow me to read her. I helped her to my bed and she sat or rather laid on it, her head facing up.

"How did the appointment go?" I asked to break the awkward silence.
She shot me an unreadable look before facing the ceiling then she burst into laughter again. An old woman turned to look at her then looked at me and shook her head sympathetically. Great! My mom was looking like the sick one now...or maybe she was ..

"Mom please be serious"
"Fine. Fine. " she sat up and for a second I thought she was going to fill me in on the appointment but instead she said, "My head it hurts"
"Do you need water? or I could call one of the nurses or doctors?" I tried offering.
She shook her head, her hands still placed on her head.

"I'll get you water then "
"No Alyssa I promise I'm okay" she said smirking. Could I say I wasn't surprised. An appointment with a freak makes you a freak yourself. I just stared at her and she got uncomfortable and said, "I got goodies for you Alice. Check the bag you have all your favourite in there."

Before now I would've thought the name Alice was cute but now it was nearly irritating because I knew she didn't actually mean it. I opened my bag and true my favourites were all there, cotton candy, chocolates and the rest were all stuffed inside. I looked over at my mom. "Thanks mom"

She sniffed herself and the colour drained from her face. "I need a shower Alice"
Stop calling me that...
"Mom...
"I'll be back tomorrow Alice I promise" she said pulling me to a hug and I read it all before she could pull away. She pulled away rather too quickly but which only confirmed what I read. She was with them.... The cult...

I changed the topic quickly so she wouldn't have time to understand what she felt just like Louis did. "Mom I want to attend dad's funeral"
"I need a shower now. We'll talk about this later", she walked away without letting me utter another sound from my mouth. Typical.

                        *****
I felt so chill under the shower. I didn't exactly come home because I stunk in fact it wasn't bad i just decided to come home to clear my head. Louis had invited me to be part of his family. When I walked on that fire I felt so big and mighty like no one could stop me.

I left the shower and limped to my room going straight to my bed. I sat on it and raised My left leg and placed it on my right so I could see under my left toes very well. It was filled with awful blisters and so did the right leg. Alyssa obviously thought I was mad. I wanted to tell her I found the solution to all my problems but Louis had filled me with so many rules which were too scary to be broken and I already loved the family so much I couldn't break their trust. There was also meant to be one of the family meeting in the next forty eight hours were I'll be welcomed properly and it was my husband's funeral night. Maybe I wouldn't go and before I realized what I was thinking I began to laugh out crazily like a maniac. Life was just getting sweeter
