Alyssa's P. O. V

10:00pm the time I waited for finally came. Angie had left since with some and dropped off some food since my mom won't do that....not like I'd collect the food from her anyway.

I was ready for my little mission dressed in pyjamas and socks with my fancy hairpin. People had started going to bed but the lights were still on and I was happy about that.

I walked downstairs casually so I won't be suspicious. I had to tip toe downstairs and dodge a lot of nurses especially Bernice to avoid being seen. I was happy I was getting better so Bernice didn't have to keep bothering me as she used to. I think she had others to attend to now and I was happy about that.

I finally arrived at the place I needed to be. Using my hairpin I opened the door successfully and tip toed in without being caught. I learnt that from now other person than Angie.

I closed the door behind me and then I turned around. The room was pretty dark so I tip toed to  the switch and put the light on My eyes took some time to adjust to the bright light and soon it did. I hurried to cover up the curtains so I won't get caught. It was time for my search and of course...reading. I read almost everything I needed to read and eventually found what I needed.

My guess or partial reading was true. He had torn part of the spell book and I was over joyed to see the binding spell lying on his desk. How could he have been so careless? I smiled. I noticed he was pretty good at hiding stuffs and I ended up scattering the place to find something useful. Something else got my eyes. A large paper with list of people with their pictures stapled beside their name and I didn't need a soothsayer to tell me that those were their names. Each and every name of the family as they called it. It made me sad to see my mom's name written last with her picture stapled beside her name.

I was about to rip her picture off when another paper caught my eyes. On this paper people's names were written with black ink and most of them were crossed off with red ink...or blood eww

Again I read that and I knew at once that it was the names of the people given as sacrifice of because I could even see someone that looked like the crazed man that caused the chaos in the hospital. Poor man died for nothing. I would've cried Now sad tears tempted to form but now wasn't the time to cry.

I read too that the people who could not sacrifice the owner of the name to which they had written would have to be killed. The last name was cancelled, 'Bertha'. That name sounded very familiar.

Shoot! The daughter of the grumpy man who never smiled. But how the hell do they get people out of their wards for sacrifice?!

I had seen her this evening which meant there was still a high chance at her survival and I knew just who was going to try to kill her. I had to save her.

Grabbing some spells that I could, pouring oil on the binding paper and arranging things back in order quickly I ran out of the office not forgetting to switch off the light.

On getting to the ward I sighted Gloria walking away with a partly sleepy Bertha to God knows where. I followed behind quickly and she walked down to Louis' ward. Why was she going there for the sacrifice? Why not the normal route like I followed?

Now wasn't the time to ask endless questions anyway. It was the time for a little act.

I yawned loud enough for Gloria to jump forward obviously scared and even Bertha's eyes flew open although they were red from insufficient sleep.

"What are you doing here?" Gloria whispered taking a step towards me.

My eyes met with hers and I let out a high piercing scream making Bertha join me.

Hey loves! What do you think of this chapter? Why do you think Alyssa couldn't figure out the place is connected to the sacrificial ground with all her reading? What do you think will happen to Bertha? Where the hell is Mary? She'll be back when we need her 😂😂
